  1. Willie, You have interesting logic. I guess the best way to respond is that perhaps the biggest reason CU has a new coach, a new AD and a new president is because of the scandals you reference. So if you're suggesting CU is guilty in regard to Darrell Scott on the basis of past issues, that's quite a leap considering none of the same folks are involved. So, to set the record straight and get back on topic, CU fans aren't worried. Far from it. We're really excited: program's headed in the right direction, a good core of important players returns from last season, the coaches put together a really good recruiting class filled not just with athletes but solid students/citizens, there is unprecedented (for CU) enthusiasm among alumni, GPA and graduation rates among players are at all-time highs and steps have been and continue to be taken to control those elements that have given the school a black eye. Seriously, hope you all will make the trip to Boulder in 2009, that it's a safe and enjoyable one for you (except for the result on the field) and that it's a game that determines the Big XII North champion.
  2. That's right mel. And in none does there seem to be the slightest evidence of wrongdoing by anyone other than Sonsini, as Redsteel notes. In fact, however, each of those newspaper articles was written in response to the Internet rumors previously mentioned. If you'd actually read the articles I wouldn't have to point that out. Look, this could go back and forth forever. Fact is if Texas really has evidence of anything, I'm sure they'll let the NCAA know and then we'll actually have some actionable assertions to go on. In the meantime, the only folks giving these reports any credence are folks who - like Willie, it seems - simply hate CU. Maybe you fit that bill as well. If so, that's fair. I understand the mere mention of CU makes some Husker fans see red just as some Buff fans bust a gut at the thought of Nebraska. Just don't confuse your hatred with righteousness.
  3. Nice Willie. We have google, too. We're just smart enough not believe everything we find there. Remember, friend, these are peoples' lives you're playing with. It's pretty easy to be an anonymous Internet poster spreading rumors. It's quite another thing to prove any of the accusations you've become party to. What kind of person do you want to be?
  4. By the way Willie, and anyone else interested, here's a link to an interesting article about the whole situation: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/07/sports/n...amp;oref=slogin For what it's worth, the main allegation is that Darrell Scott's mother was given a job at a Boulder bank in exchange for delivering her son to CU. Fair enough. That should be pretty darn easy to prove, if true. First, she'd have to move from SoCal to Boulder. Second, that would mean she'd have to leave her job as the director of an OB/Gyn center in LA. Third, she'd have to be on the payroll of the bank. Fourth, given the bright lights shining on CU following the Neuheisel and Barnett years, Hawkins would have to be out of his mind to even get a speeding ticket much less resort to dirty tactics in recruiting one of the top recruits in the country in one of most public processes imaginable. Dumb is one thing. Suicidal is another. Ok. That's one side of the story. I and every other CU fan, coach, player, alum and official is waiting for the other...
  5. Looks to me like there are folks in Boulder, Lincoln, wherever who want to have a rational conversation, then there are those who are just p.o.'d and can't get over themselves. Willie, will you also admit that you're willing to buy anything as long it's negative about CU without any thought to how wild and unsubstantiated the claims? Seriously. when, in a couple weeks time all of these rumors add up to squat, will you come back on this forum and admit you were wrong? To be fair, I'll do exactly that if any of the crap being peddled is ever proven. Until you're willing to do the same I question your membership among the class group of fans that most of America knows reside in Nebraska. I have a long memory. I'll be waiting.
  6. Mel, I think a few of my fellow fans have gotten ahead of themselves. National title remains a distant dream and I think CU's probably a year away from outright contending for the north. But after last year, you never know. If the Buffs can plug the hole left by Dizon's graduation, our young d-linemen and d-backs live up to their potential (by young I mean guys on the roster last year, not incoming freshman), D. Scott is as explosive as advertised and a talented group of receivers (Simas, Celestine, Smith, Williams, McKnight) really steps it up, then with a few breaks, why not? I think the same thing could be said for the Huskers. The talent seems to be there. If Ganz proves to be the real deal, replacements on the o-line can be found and the defense... well, we all know the work Bo has ahead of him there... Nebraska should be in the thick of things as well. Really, I see a four-team dogfight: Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. K-State, meanwhile, should win the junior-college national championship hands down.
  7. Gosh, guess what you guys really wanted was another forum to bash Buff fans...
  8. As a CU fan I'd say we're excited because we disagree with the characterization of our class as mediocre. All of these ratings are subjective - they don't mean a thing; only performance on the field in the fall does. But a number of services have the Buff class in the top 15-16. Some say the No. 2 linebacker group in the country. Two of the top-rated tight ends. Some stud o-linemen. A playmaker punt returner. A tall, fast wide receiver. And then there's Darrell Scott. Not to be argumentative but if that's mediocre, what would that make Nebraska's? Truth is both schools have plenty of raw talent coming in, the type of talent to help get each back to the top of the north. Seriously. There's reason for all of us to look forward with excitment.
  9. I agree, and I also can't argue with the fact that their campus is really in the perfect setting. Hopefully the Blackshirts will return so they can limit Mr. Scott's yards per game. Hey, normally I don't condone trolling other teams sites but I'm 100% against being an anonymous jerk, so a little full disclosure: I'm a Buff. Still, I really appreciate the apparent sincerity of the last two posts. Thanks. Also, I came here to ask a question and to offer a little unsolicited perspective. The latter first: Congrats on a really, really strong class first time out of the chute with Bo. Speaking from experience, it ain't easy comin' in in January and pulling off a solid recruiting class. Props where they are due. Bodes well for the future of a proud program. Now, my question: how many scholarships do y'all have to give this go-round? 27 seems like a bunch. Will some be grayshirted? Do you expect some not to qualify?
