  1. Joe is not that good of a QB. He cannot throw a proper screen pass (no Touch just guns it). Does not have the Arm Strength, and is not very accurate.

Where Joe does well is that he is a scholar of the game. However so was Taylor. Taylor got his shot at the NFL...as a free agent, and Taylor was way better. Probably just as smart as Joe in football as well.

Chase Daniel would have a better chance, and I don't think he will even be drafted. They're both too short.

You don't think chase daniel will be drafted? I'm pretty sure you're wrong on that one stud.

agree, he will definitely be drafted...

maybe you're right. But numerous scouts have been to Columbia and few think he can overcome his height, although there was some AFC scout there today who said his quick release might even out his vertically challenged status. He's closer to 5'10 than the reported 6'0"

    Elevator cleats?

  2. I could care less about a bowl game right now I would like to see this team win out the rest of it's schedule and make more improvement on D. If Baylor's QB doesn't get hurt we are probably talking about "How did we lose to Baylor". I can see NU beating CU,KSU because I do feel those programs are in much worse shape and a 50/50 shot at KU because it appears Mangino's all you can eat buffet is starting to run out of food.

If the boys can play like they did against TT and control the clock and finish off drives with TD's they have a real shot because OU's D is almost as bad as NU's right now.

    GBR

Not sure what Baylor game you watched, but we handled him well enough to win easily, healthy or not.

It was the game where NU was losing at halftime and griffin's ankle injury late in the 2nd or early in the third took away his mobility which there was no answer for before the injury. The injury made them one dimensional and passing without the threat of the run enabled NU's D to focus on baylor's below average pass attack. Look at the stats most of their yardage came before griffin got hurt. That was the game I watched.

I seem to remember his injury being end of 3rd/beginning of 4th. Could be wrong - I think he was contained for most of the third on 2 good wheels.

  3. My wife and I were blessed to be invited back to campus a few weeks ago for an alumni leadership conference.

We attended practice on Thursday before the New Mexico State game and toured the new practice facilities. Awesome!

Did you know in that practice facility EVERY sport can conduct practice? The VB team practices in sand to help their jumping/dig abilities...the softball team was practicing batting practice a few feet from us...even bowling?

Security was tight but gave way when they saw recognized our escort. We saw the new weight room and the new physical treatment rooms (thank heavens only a couple of players were being treated). First class facilities.

We went outside after walking through the tunnel walk and touching the horseshoe and went onto the field for pictures. As if on cue, the rain stopped and our picture opps stopped. Bo had the team on the field within minutes of the sun starting to peek out and chased us off the carpet. Then to watch again the precision the special teams went thru from the sideline was special.

Then off to the 4th floor suites to watch more practice and get a presentation from the compliance department on what 'alumni and fans' can and cannot do regarding contact with potential recruits (NO CONTACT) and other NCAA rules.

Then we walked across the street to the Champions Club to hear a reflection on where we are coming from and going to from AD Tom Osborne was the cherry on top.

Sorry Touchdown Tommie, not trying to hijack your thread...we all have memories whenever we are in that stadium.

I've always wondered about that. What if I experienced a "revelation" and became a Texas or some other team's fan. Some money exchanges hands with 5* recruit. I feel guilty and report my transgression to the NCAA and BAMB - the team gets sanctioned.

Man, that would be frigging awesome! No way in hell my wife would move to Lincoln though............not going to happen.

Umm, wife versus NU football . . . I know which one I would choose. :horns2

Not when she doesn't spend alot of money or nag at me alot. Don't find too many of those walking around and she likes the Huskers, but she doesn't care for Lincoln except for the campus and the stadium.

Mine spends a lot of money and nags me a bit. She loves the Huskers, (and hates on Missouri) - so I stick around.

  6. Does anyone know if Johnny R. was at the game yesterday?

Yes. They interviewed him during the game on TV. I hate when they talk over the game. Do the interviews during time outs - talk over the commercial - anything but the game.

  7. Used to be when unlimited recruiting was allowed, NU would recruit 10-15 running backs and very few DBs. If a player washed out at I back he would be moved to DB.

Different time and a different team! I can't say enough how people our undervaluing the LB spot. Sure you could throw a dozen athletes into the position. And you would end up with a bunch of half ass LBs, who can't tackle to save their lives. (And frankly we have to many poor tacklers to begin with!)

LB is NOT a throw away position. It may well be the most important on the defense!

Yeah - thats what I meant about a bygone era. Now days DBs are very precious recruits. I sent before I put that part in. I was going to edit it, but last time I did that I got blasted because I didn't say I edited it.

  8. From OWH: LInk

What was that? On the second play of the second quarter, senior Dan Titchener's punt hit sophomore Prince Amukamara before bouncing inside the 10-yard line. However, as the play evolved, nobody but Amukamara knew it. Baylor and Nebraska players scrambled to fall on the football, just in case. Redshirt freshman Mike Caputo did recover it, desperately hoping that he had set up the NU offense with a first and goal. But replay confirmed that Baylor got the ball on the 24-yard line, where Amukamara touched it first.

Did Prince admit that the ball hit him, or is the writer giving the "official" :sarcasm point of view? He did slow up and did not go after the ball right away.

  9. I have only seen this on blogs, the only real news source I had heard on this is ESPN said that construction is stalled. It is probably true, but it did not exactly come from CNN or Reuters... Could be half true or exaggerated.

What? Verify your source? You mean I can't depend on fake Oklahoma Daily News web sites that report made up stories about OU football players? Sounds like 4 clicks on the mouse too many.

  10. Have you seen the video at the games. That does not indicate just a starter. We have made them into something far more important.

The reason for them was to tell the starting defense in a two platoon system. Actually no need for them at all as the defense has its own practice. Let's do away with them if your going on history.

Ask the Peters if they think they should be awarded on what they have seen. Ask any of the players in the mid 90's if this team looks like black shirt material, as what Blackshirt has come to mean not historically.

Excellence, heart, devastation, loyalty, brotherhood, above all else. Do you really feel this edition is what we want to call Blackshirts. I guess our standards have been lowered so far, we just want the name, not the action.

I have yet to see one on this team, there are several close, but overall not even near to what they need to be to deserve the accolades the video system gives them.

Unlike the previous four years I have heard rumors that the offense and defense do occasionally scrimmage each other during the week.

  11. Is anyone a little concerned that it took Watson this long to figure it out? He has been here for what, 3 years now, I would have thought he had a better idea of what was going on/what he wanted to do.

At least Watson doesn't dial up a 7 yard pass on 3rd and 10 like the ISU coordinator did on Saturday.

  12. The blackshirts were never intended to raise anyones confidence. It was a reward for effort, stong play and consistent perfection. (or as close as you can get) Stopping ISU shouldn't be that hard. I really hope they are awarded this year sometime but, maybe not yet. Or maybe to the best two or three performers first. Part of the problem here is, everyone keeps saying "when will they be given out. I hope they never are.

Originally they were given to the first team defense when 2 platoon football evolved. It has evolved to mark excellence over time.

    Just setting the history right.

  13. Would some one PLEASE post the video clip at the start of the broadcast where the Cyclone runs out of the fog and straight into the goalpost?

That was a great indicator of how the game was going to go.
