  1. I never knew the story of the Jack, good story. I don't like how NU glorifies having an African American on the team in George Flippin during the late 1800's. While it was monumental, they fail to mention that many of our own players didn't want to play with him and another African American would not be on the team for some 60 years.

Part of the reason was that Missouri and Oklahoma threatened to not play NU if we continued to play African Americans.

  2. One of the biggest "hits" that hurt NU was the Big 8 allowed "partial qualifiers"; players who did not fully qualify academically but could come to school and if they met certain grade requirements, could play, I'm thinking 4 years with no redshirt allowed. The old southwest conference didn't allow this (Texas is chock full of JUCOs) and part of the deal to form the Big 12, partial qualifiers were forbidden. Many of the great Big Red players from the '80s and '90s were partial qualifiers. This was one of TO's great misgivings when forming the Big 12

  3. While I do really like Okie State's offense (Mike Gundy's a man and was drawing up plays on the sideline all night long), we don't have the personnel to even come close to matching the production. Zac Robinson was highly underrated, and is the definition of a dual threat QB. OSU also has a great wide receiver and a great running back.

In my opinion, Nebraska's offense would stall if they tried to start an offense like this right now. I say...just keep with what is working for US right now: short passes, get Lucky in space, and run the ball after many successful short passing plays. Then, ever once in a while, throw in a play action pass and heave it downfield.

Hell...I really liked what I saw. That's what I want my offense to look like, especially with the lack of a defense. Sure the defense didn't seem too bad this game, but that was because they weren't on the field too much. When they were, Texas Tech scored four out of the five times.

Whenever you have the ball for 40 minutes (assuming you punch some drives in for TDs), you set yourself up for a win.

Are we working to LOSE? They have lost 3 in a row, including 2 at home! If losing is the goal, then it is WORKING FOR US!

NU has the toughest SOS in the country.

  4. I think MU bounces back this week. I'm still not convinced texas is coached well enough to put forth a complete effort every week.

You are kidding me, right? I would make that argument against Pinkel and Mizzou, not Texas and Mack Brown.

    Wow.

You would argue that Mack Brown is a better coach than Pinkel? I have to disagree. Mack Brown consistently fields under achieving teams with world-class talent. The guy should write a book on how to squander talent. Texas has a top 5 recruiting class virtually every year since the mid 90s, and they have only 1 NC to show for it. As far as I am concerned, the only saving grace of the Texas coaching staff is Will Muschamp.

I would also argue that the current Mizzou team is extremely well coached by a guy who finally knows how to use the weapons he has. It would not surprise me if they beat Texas.

Do you remember that great drop-back passer, Brad Smith

  5. We chose not to give them much time in our 3 cupcakes. Now, it might be the only game they get a shot is against ISU. Baylor will be a dogfight I'm afraid which will not help out of backup QB's getting experience. I'm still dazed and confused why we saw neither of them in the Mizzou game.

the clones have clawed their way into creampuff status (#95). they should get a backup some time against ISU, but who knows? but as you pointed out, they didn't play backup qbs against the other creampuffs.

I hope the game is close enough that they need the ganzinator the whole way.

BTW-- He can go back to the interception mode for one week. ;)

what are we?? we cant be that far behind at 3-3

    #39

And #39 last week as well. Does any one know NU's strength of schedule?

i remember seeing something on cbs sports but i dont think its correct but it said we had #1 SOS...

Looked it up. We are still #1

  7. You really think crabtree goes pro?

Did he red shirt? I thought that you had to be a junior to declare for the draft. I forget his name . . . the freshman tail back from Ohio HerbState, LaBron's friend, got arrested . . . he lost the lawsuit.

  8. if not for all the penalties NU would have won this game.

The skers surprised a lot of people today so dont be sad, be

angry. Iowa State better watch out next week...

hey cy, where you live? address wise, that way when i see a damned offical trip one of our players i know where to place the explosives. :moreinteresting:nanalama:steam:restore:LOLtartar:woo:woo

    "Yard marker of death" Bwahaha

  9. When you look at the next 6 games here is how they shake out to me:

ISU - they are very down right now and I think we will beat them in their house if we can play like this again.

BU - this game is going be closer than we all had hoped for, but I think we pull it out if we can play like this again.

OU - again I think this game is closer than we think it will be if we can play like this again, but still end up losing this one.

KU - I'm still not buying into KU this season and I think ISU showed that they are very vunerable if we can play like this again.

KSU - Oh, I can't wait to stomp these bastards again. We win

CU - We know this game is always competitive, but with us at home we win this one IMO if we can play like this again.

So that would make us 8-4, a HUGE improvement over 5-7 last season and we meet Iowa in the Alamo Bowl for a slug fes if we can play like this againt. :cheers

The motto for the rest of the year is if we can play like this again I hope like hell they will. But there will be ups and downs for the team. Still need to improve on the mental errors.

I need to calm down, take a deep breathe and take a step back. After the first three games the expectations were guarded optimism. After VTech, concern. After MU, we the fans "knew" we were in for a losing season, the players can't play coaches can't coach. Now, we are destined for #2 in the B12 North. Don't get me wrong, I think it might be possible. For the rest of the season I swear to celebrate any wins and not slit my wrists after any loss.

  10. Here's my only strike against Chase and his run for hypesman. First, keep your mouth shut after a game even though you think you've been wronged. Voters will appreciate this much more than what transpired last week. Second, don't come out in the biggest game of your season thus far sporting a mohawk. This might turn voters against you as well. 3 INT's, it happens and won't keep you from winning it. Play to the best of your abilities, beat Texas next week, and you'll probably jump back to #1 or #2 in the race.

Does anyone know what Chase said during last night's post game interview? anything stupid? Or did he learn his lesson?

  11. As Bo would say "Lipstick on a pig, its still a loss"

TO would always say NU plays against themselves, striving for perfection on those those things the players can control. NU is not there . . . . yet.

  12. I heard ESPN say recently that for nebraska to really succeed bigtime, they need to start doing some real recruiting and stop taking all these "walk ons".

I got my shotgun and blew my TV up. Niles Paul bitches.

Its evaluation and development of talent. Not scholarships vs walkons. I thought we just got done with 4 years of "real recruiting"
