  1. How could that have fooled anyone. There's no way we could afford to only get three there.

With that much time left, 99% of coaches would take the points. It was a great call, obviously planned earlier since the field goal team came on the field so quickly. Great call...

And 99.99% of coaches would have punted 4th and 4 on their own 35(?)

  2. Everyone has something to learn....even Bo. TO did the same things and learned from them Bo will do the same.

TO's first year 1973, against Missouri, Kansas and Okie St. were 1 pt loss, 1 pt win and a tie, respectively

Against Missouri he went for the win, and was chastised for not going for the tie.

Two weeks later, learning his lesson, he went for the tie. And was chastised for not going for the win.

TO said from the experience, paraphrased: "From now on I am going to do what I feel is best for the team, and not read the papers"

You can't compare the decisions before the overtime rule was in effect vs. now. Used to be that the decision was an almost sure tie vs. going for the win. Now the decision is whether to try to win on one play vs. trying to beat them in OT. There is no clear cut decision.

I took a quick google at the odds of making a 2 point conversion. The only thing I found quickly was this article: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news...o&type=lgns, which refers (I think) to NFL stats that says an extra point is 99% while a 2 point conversion has a 44% success rate. If you think you have a 50/50 chance of winning in OT, that says you should go for 1 and go to OT.

But it's close enough that you might reconsider if you are big underdogs, like we were. It might be a lot less that 50/50 in OT. However, we were out playing TT at that point, and have a better kicker. And that kicker difference could easily have been the decider.

I think if you are the better team, it's a no-brainer to put it in OT. If the teams are even-up, still looks like better odds in OT. If you've tied it on flukes and have no business being in the game with the other team, roll the dice and go for 2. Otherwise, it's a gut feeling call. I was calling for sending it into OT but wouldn't have been upset to go for 2, even if it didn't work. We were a big underdog but I don't think we got there by flukes at all.

Yes I know the rules are different.

The previous poster mentioned " TO did the same things and learned from them" and I gave the data that backed him up.

The most important line from my post was TO learned that unless you win, people will always second guess you, so as a coach you can't listen to what others (thats us) say, but be true to yourself.

  4. I hope I am wrong but anyone who thinks this this team will give up less than 60 this weekend is dreaming and it won't be the last time either....We are looked upon in the same regard as the slugs TO would bring in back in the day to use as tune ups and tackling dummies...pathetic but true.

You say may I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one :)

Perfect - and on John Lennon's birthday, no less!

What?!? That isn't your picture for your avatar?

  5. Ugly? Course it'll be ugly...but who cares? When confronted with ugly just do what I do....shut off the lights, enjoy the ride and then sneak out before the sun comes up. As long as you don't have to look directly at ugly, you can usually fool yourself into thinking it's not really that ugly...

Anyway...no matter how ugly it is, it's better than the off-season.... <_<

And lots and lots of ethyl alcohol

  6. I don't get it. I have been trying to be the most positive person when it comes to our beloved team. However, I couldn't understand the formations we were running the other night. Why do we have to shift so much? Why can't we just line up and hit someone in the mouth? Am I missing something. Didn't Ozzie say you can wear teams down with running right at them. By the fourth quarter, they are mush. Question, do we need to revamp the offense and get back to basic blocking? I don't know. It' almost like we are out thinking ourselves. Line those big boys up front nose to nose and get after it.

Just venting. The pass doesn't set up the run, it's the other way around....isn't it???

To run right at them and wear the opponents down, you have to stop the other team from scoring on every drive.

"The pass doesn't set up the run, it's the other way around....wasn't it???"

    is the current climate

  7. What would you do to defend the Spread Offense?

    i would use the shotgun.

not the formation, LITERALLY a shotgun.

to daniels head? i mean no shotguns are bad...give me a power i...

The following statement is a JOKE

A spit wad to the head?

The previous statement was a JOKE

PS Herbuckeyestreit is now on ESPN. He is really hoarse. What team was he cheering for? He just said TTech is the most over-rated

  9. I am amazed by the number, quality and class of posts by fans from teams that play the Huskers. Many of them are regulars:

Iowa State: The one, the only, Cy

Kansas: JHaWk, JGS30, Jayhawk, all class acts

Missouri: Fro Daddy, GoTigers, MUTigerFan and the frequently misunderstood Tuff Tiger, and many others

    Colorado: Buffan

South Dakota (or State) I don't want to insult: I can't find user name - jackrabbit or something like that, some reason caught my attention

    Western Michigan: wmsam04, very knowledgable

    NMSU: Kev, friendly

    VT: rjh4vt

    TTech: RaiderRed7 already welcoming us

There were others from memory from So Cal, Alabama and else where.

I didn't mean to leave anyone off.

However - there is one team that is mysteriously missing. Someone from the B12 north. Any theories on why K-State fans are so conspicuously absent?

  10. I was thinking the same thing.

The only way Snyder got K-State going was when he red-shirted every senior that had one left. Lost a lot of games but in two years he had enough depth to start their streak of good seasons.

Plus any seniors that aren't with the program can go "to the league" like they were promissed when recruited.

  11. Wow, can some people learn to spell PELINI's name right?

As for the other upset alerts involving Big 12 teams, I agree with Texas/Colorado given the altitude and the sCUm team that's figuring out ways to win ball games. Texas Tech/KSUcks, that one may be a shootout and Tech may have an average secondary. But KSUcks is a lot worse on offense than what foxsports.com is telling ya. That has to change if KSUcks is wanting to pull off the upset against Texas Tech, although I doubt that happens.

    Its not PelleeKnee?

KSUck got a lot of their numbers against the high school teams they scrimmaged in the first 3 games.

  12. Especially this year, when my MU friends are so high on their team, they think they could easily beat the Chiefs.

My kid's youth league football team would give the Chiefs a run for their money this year.... <_<

    And slaughter the Denver Broncos?????????????
