  1. For non-conference games the official crew should come from a 3rd conference, like in bowl games. Being a former official, I think most of the calls would be the same (99% of officials are honest, except in the NBA) but it would reduce the appearance of bias.

  2. I forget the yr-late '80s, early 90s?- NU/KU in Lawrence, went down to the wire, NU prevailed 21-20, although outplayed by the jbirds. THAT was a huge game cuz I think we were in the top 10.

I don't think in my lifetime-born '59-I had scene us lose to KU.

But that was the thing about OZ: he almost never lost the 'easy' games.

    ;)

well we have lost to KU in Lawrence the last 2 times from my recollection

He kept his eyes closed - as in "I can't stand to watch this crap"

  3. thank god i have my safety glass on..honestly ,i don't think red and black color combo is all that bad if done right...i kinda like the ATLANTA FALCONS uniform...that's just me though

    ATLANTA FALCONS

That alone is the nail in the coffin against

  4. So I received a phone call last night about 9:30 est time. It was United calling to see if there was anyway I could switch my flight because they had over sold the 9:55 flight on Friday to Omaha from Chicago.

I am flying in from Charlotte to go to the game. So I asked what type of incentives are you providing. She reponded "100 dollars", I chuckled and then proceeded to ask when the next flight out was from Chicago. She responded and said 4:15 pm. I chuckled again and told her I had made my reservations 4 months ago.

No way I am going to sit in Ohare Airport from 8:30 , when I get in from Chicago, till 4:15 for 100 dollars. That is NUTZ!

Anyway my whole point of this story is that I am going to be on a flight of Hokie Fans.

Should I throw a red smoke bomb on the plane when I get on ?

Just start a rousing chorus of 'Dear Old Nebraska'....

    and duck! :)

  5. Talent gives a team a starting point. Beyond that you have to keep the players, keep them eligible and healthy, coach them up, get players matched up with positions where they can excel, and get some luck.

I am totally convinced that the number of stars, and rating services in general, are way over rated. They exist to get money from fans. There is not that much difference between a 5* and a 4*, it is subjective, and doesn't reflect character, hard work, and "good fit" for a system.

The main problem with the-coach-whose-name-shall-not-be-mentioned is how he recruited. "Come play AT Nebraska and I can get you to the League", flashing his last place super bowl ring. He got INDIVIDUALS with great potential, instead of team mates. When things go OK (2006) it works. When stressed, it crumbles into individuals bickering and finger pointing like last year.

  6. You know... another thing I'm going to be interested in seeing is how Chase Daniels handles his trip to Lincoln this year... after his 'high school' remark last year I have a feeling Memorial Stadium is going to be pretty hostile to him.

I wonder how much motivation the NU defense is taking from that? That kind of smacktalk can really change how a game goes sometimes. That's one of the reasons I'm not willing to just assume a Mizzou win. This could be a radically different game than what you'd expect from analyzing statistics. It's going to be interesting to see how it turns out.

he has been crazy on fire the last three games. he was 36-43 today. over the last three games he is 75-88 for 1089 yrds, 9 tds & 0 ints. He is a gamer. I am pretty sure he will eat it up.

I think NU will be more motivated for a game against a top 5 team and a team that but a whoopin on them last year more than a newspaper clipping anyway.

plus as Ebyl said, he didnt say anything that every husker fan wasnt already saying. In fact i would argue that husker fan was harder on the NU defensive players and said worse things than daniel ever did :)

Chase is over-rated. He had what, 6 incomplete passes? :sarcasm

  7. Well, from Callahan's first recruiting classes, Brandon Jackson, Carl Nicks, and Zack Bowman are already playing in the NFL. After this year, look for Murtha, Lucky, Potter, Slauson and possibly Murillo to be in the NFL. Not exactly talent devoid, but maybe not as rich as the media had pumped it up to be and recruiting afficianados thought.

Enough talent depth for 8 man football. Hhhmmmmm .. . . National champion 8 man college team, by default

Look at Colorado's two frosh running backs, did the 5* guy or the 5' guy get 166 yds thursday?

  8. Sorry, but there is no way we can beat Mizzou. VaTech and TTech are definitly do able, but Mizzou will roll by at least 14.

Really? What if Chase is out with the flu finger stuck up his nose and Maclin misses the flight and whatever other good players they have get the syph? Then would it be possible?

    Fixed it for you

  9. Great I get stuck w/ Penn State vs Ill :wtf:moreinteresting

Yep, me too, probably. I'm stuck in Big 10 territory, so I'm pretty sure they'll be showing the stupid St. Penn game.

Doesn't the Big Can't Count Conference have their own network they can show the game on?

  10. VT is winnable and so is Kansas. I havent been impressed with Kansas yet(Last year or this year) so I think that game is very winnable too. Hell Kansas will probably come into our game with 3 losses.

9-3 is reasonable I believe. 8-4 is more probable.

ALL games are winnable. Some games depend only on how the Huskers play, good or bad. The first 3 games were like this. Some need help from how the opponent plays. Tex-ass Tech and KU are in this category. We need our best and help from Missery and OU to win, but its do-able.

  11. My son just turned 15 a couple weeks ago. He's 6'2, 180lbs, and country strong. I told him, go to college where ever you like (except OU or CU), but if you went to Nebraska, i'd be the happiest Dad on the planet...

    OK w/ KSUcks?

Definition of country strong: You ask him to go move the tractor. He picks it up and asks where you want it?
