  1. Some more info:

So, how does a Nebraska football player stay motivated during the dog days of preseason camp?

Well, you can create informal competitions in practice, Matt Slauson said.

Word on the street is this was the secret to KU's success last year. Except instead of being player driven, it was fostered by their coaching staff. I am impressed that our players are showing leadership.

  2. I would have to agree that it's the surroundings that they are in for one. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not they have a beautiful campus and are surrounded by a multitude of outdoor activities. The other would have to be because of Hawkins. He is a good coach from what I have seen so far and is doing a good job recruiting. Whether we like it or not we are going to compete with sCUm for the North once we get going again. MU and KU are short lived and once again NU will rise up and compete with sCUm for the North. I don't hate them as much as I hate KSUcks though......................I would disown my future children if they said they were going to KSUcks.

Lets get Buffet to go build us some mountains! And then chissel Devaney, Osborne, Rodgers and Larry the Cable guy's face on one.

  3. KC sports radio talking head said this about the MU scrimmage:

The difference in level of play was night and day. The Tigers had better pray hard that Daniels does NOT get hurt. The spread offense is SO dependent on the play of the QB. When Nebraska won in 95 they plugged in 4 different QBs and it didn't make any difference.

Maybe a good discussion would be who has the best backup QB

  4. I say kick everyone off the team and go with replacement players. What's Keanu doing these days?

Edit - Or Bakula, for that matter, which would make a bit more sense.

Why would you play a delicious flaky pastry desert?

    thats Baklava.

  6. Since when does the coach schedule the time of game?

    Game time depends on

    1) TV

    2) AD, with input from HC as in "Hey Pedy, if you don't want us to gravitate to mediocrity, I gots ta have a night game so I can fly in my 5 star boys from Callyfornia.

  7. One of the good things the-coach-whose-name-shall-not-be-mentioned did, IMO was to put early non-con games at night for recruiting purposes. The recruits can fly into Lincoln after their game on Friday night and witness the splendor that is a Husker home game. Then fly back to California. Now the emphasis is Texas so this may change.

  8. Down here in Kansas land one of the radio talking heads actually said "Of all of the Big 12 coaches, Mangino is the best Xs and Os coach. Period. Not Stoops. Not Pinkel. Mangino. No question."

You've got to be f'ing kidding me.

No kidding. Said Stoops had more talent. If they had the same squads Mangino would have a better record than Stoops.

  9. Oh my gosh. I'm not even going to respond to this. KU is more unproven than NU? That's crazy talk. Have you lost your mind??? Did Nebraska win a BCS game last year against the #3 team in the country? Geeez...I must of missed that. Plus the fatc that you add a new coach, with a new system, yet you can say with confidence at least 7-5? Interesting to say the least. :dunno

Oh stop being such a pessimist! We prefer to say we rid ourselves of a g** d*** incompetent blow hard of a coach.

  10. You're forgetting this is Kansas land. Jayhawk fan's aren't deterred by these little facts. Yeah, their gritty home-grown defense got smoked for 484 yards and their disciplined secondary gets to answer for 405 of them. Ganz made a few bad decisions, the crowd played a factor, and we didn't field a defense. Had we played anywhere but the Twilight Zone this would have been an entirely different game.

This is what Kansas fans need to understand. I'm not predicting a sure-fire win. What I'm predicting is a game Kansas sure as hell better not overlook, especially if they're doing well at that point in the season. Nebraska's offensive production will probably stay reasonably stable. We're going to run the ball. You're not going to see as much of Reesing. Mangino is going to have to scheme against Bo freakin' Pelini. No offense, but cupcake-munching Kansas isn't the worst monster Pelini's ever had to watch on film. Just ask Ohio State.

It'll be a fun game once it gets here. Nobody can make accurate picks at this point, but going off the info, 10-3 is almost laughable. Believe it or not Kansas is still a team with something to prove. You guys aren't sitting on the hills of the promise land drinking tea. You overachieved against weak opponents. Congratulations. Now let's see what Mangino can do against some real tests.

    We'll see

  11. KU will be better than last year. There is no question about that. We lost 2 guys-Talib and Collins-keep in mind that Collins played hurt the last 5 games of the year. Talib is the only guy we lost from a very strong secondary.

Talib is gone? That WILL help KU. Now NU's WR won't zip right past him into the endzone.

  12. I think you should have to take a man's life before you get a blackshirt.

Or be sent out into the jungle with only your bare hands and a loin cloth, and then come back with a tiger's head on a stick.

Or Buffalo head, or JayHawk head or Wildcat head or Cyclone head (????) :dunno

  13. The only games that I think the Huskers have a very limited chance at winning is at OU and at TT. That TT game is looking scary.

Unless TT implodes. I say 30% chance of that since the game is in the 1st half of season for NU -( it will be the second game of the season for TT) 70% chance that TT implodes by the end of the season.

  14. IMO i don't think the polls should come out until week 5 or until conference play starts because in non-conference play a lot of teams play cupcakes with one maybe two decent teams. Look at Michigan last year.

I'm for that!!! Notre Dumb would NEVER be ranked EVER again!!!
