  1. Until Mizzou beats down IllAnnoy on ESPN Sat. Night Football. Oh yea - Nebraska plays somebody that night too.

Who do you play the next week North East Missery State

    :wacko::rant

actually i believe its North Central Community College of the Blind of Downtown Columbia-Tech

  2. You really played at ISU? Thats awesome!!

    Not according to Jim Walden....

But I was reportedly a member of the team 1980-84, back when Cyclone Football and Jumbo Shrimp were both accepted oxymorons when used by English majors in the term papers they wrote for me...uh...I mean, that I wrote.... <_<

Maybe I am too young to know Jim Walden... if you donned a helmet, pads, etc. and took the field with the Clones, then you were a player!

What??? He was an assistant at NU in early '70s. He bailed/left/fired when TO was named HC.

  3. I assume it is going to be Watson, but I have not seen confirmation of it one way or another. Has this been announced/discussed by Pelini?

Th OC usually calls the plays unless the HC is an offensive guru like Osborne, Tressel, Leach, Weis, Johnson... Very rare the Hc casll his own play now days, but some do, but Weis has stopped doing this and don't know if Johnson will do it at GA Tech.

    Don't forget the-coach-whose-name-is-not-to-be-mentioned :laughpound

Agree with Bigredfxtoy - Remember hearing that Bo will let Watson call plays, he will listen in and give his 2 cents where appropriate

HuskerfaninOkieland - I think I remember Bo saying that once the D "gets going" he will let Carl take more control

  4. At least with the PPV stuff you get to see the Tunnel Walk. That and even though there a lot of the University plugs, you don't have to sit through all the commercials.

If my family doesn't get the PPV's, I know my Wife and I will probably go to The Varsity or BWW to watch the games.

Brewsky's is a fun place to go to too.

Couple of years ago on PPV - Baylor I think - NU had 4-6 different commercials. The other team had ONE that you saw over and over and over and over . . . ad nauseum (Latin for repeat until you vommit)

  5.

“I liken it to our I-back situation in 2001 at Colorado, where we had four of them,” said Watson, a Buffs assistant from 1999-2005. “Having Cortlen Johnson, Bobby Purify and Chris Brown, and also a young Marcus Houston — that wore defenses out.

“Man, we had some guys. And I see us being the same way at Nebraska. We have guys.”

    . . . .

“I mean, everybody knew who Marcus Houston was,” Watson said. “But nobody knew who Bobby Purify was, and he had the best career. Can we have something like that happen here? It has to be proven. But is the potential there? Yeah, it is.”

I know Watson is a Nebraska guy now, but still I really cringed when he kept on gushing about the CU players.

  6. My dumb a$$ brother got married in 1986 when NU played south carolina. It was an away game, and supposed to be a cake walk. Not only was the ceremony the same day, it was the same TIME as the first half of the game. My sister-in-law said it was the only time the church was available. DUH. Wore earpiece and gave *discrete* symbols during the ceremony. The new bride (and her family) was pi$$ed that EVERYBODY went out to the parking lot to listen to the end of the game. NU won by 3 points.

Couple of years later the two families were invited to have Thanksgiving dinner together. Turns out they are VERY religous. One of their traditions was to stand around the dining room and tell everyone what they were thankful for in the past year. They had a rough year, the father had cancer, they lost the family business, so everyone of them gave the sad sob story - but were thankful for God and family. I was the first one from our side of the family to talk. It was 1988 and NU beat OU the week before 7-3. I said I was thankful for a good defense. That opened the flood gates and everyone elso on my side was thankful for some aspect of the Huskers that year.

We were never invited back for Thanksgiving.

  7. Wn or lose, South Florida is not even close to a tougher game than Mizzou last year. I despise Mizzou with all my sould, and OU had their number, but they were really good. THey are mostly back, and They are the first team in a while from the North that could challenge the South toe to toe. I think my Hawks could win some games, and I think we have a chance, but Mizzou is really good and a lot better than South Florida, IMHO. I will grant you the South Florida game is on the road, and I am not saying we have it in the bag, but from an odds perspecitve, I would say we are favorites over USF and underdogs vs. Mizzou at a neutral site. Advantage Tigers.... (This post was painful to write and my attempt at being fair-minded should IN NO WAY be interpreted as a concession to the enemy of all decent, freedom loving people, the Unversity of Missouri. :) )

Did you happen to read the title of the thread?

  8. I haven't heard anything about it and I only live about 10 miles from NFM. In Kansas. Needless to say its getting zero air time in KC.

BTW they aren't doing anything with KU or MU either.

It might just be for the one in Omaha. Was in the local newspaper ads

Plaese get all facts before posting on another teams board.

    :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

    :yeah

what the hell does that have to do with anything. Because I didnt say Omaha. God lord man. get a freakin life. It had nothing to do with me being a mizzou fan. I LIVE IN OMAHA, my bad

Or were you referring to me? This weekend I am driving down to Village West and ask if I can get the deal down here. Not taking it, just askin'

The only way I have a problem is when they switch teams every couple years according to who is the most popular at the time.. .

Maybe not the most popular, but who has the most former Huskers. I used to like the Rams (Feragamo), then the Patriots (Fryer), then the49ers (Rathman/Craig), then the Packers (Green), then the anti-Jets (coach-whose-name-is-not-to-be-mentioned)

Today, I'm wearing a (W.Moon) Vikings jersey at work and already had someone ask if I was a fan..(I usually only watch teams that have former Huskers on the roster).

Not wearing a (B.Favre) Vikings jersey?

  10.

Callahan had precisely one 5-star recruit --- Marlon Lucky, thats it. Many of the high 4 stars never panned out. The notion that Callahan had excellent recruiting classes is a myth. he courted many 5 star athletes but they all (except Lucky) went elsewhere in the end. Following Callahan on the recruiting path was fun and exciting. What was actually produced was no so much so.

Plus Jeremy Crabtree was a good friend of the-coach-who-shall-not-be-mentioned helped his recruiting aura

  11. Single digit and low numbers stick out. A lot of people may say that numbers don't matter but it's like that with most positions.

Waaaay back in the day I was a DB. I still remember the look on my coach when I asked for the #13 jersey. He wanted to know why, I said I was going to be bad luck for the reciever.

It turned out to be bad luck for the chain gang since I always tripped them up because I never left the sidelines.

  12. I think the players that have been there with Callahan have gone through the "Pelini Purification Process", and all thoughts, memories and instructions given to them by Callahan will be wiped out.

Callahan was supposed to have had all these 5 star recruits, but he didn't know how to bring out the best in them or push the desire to win or make them understand what Nebraska Football is about.

From what I've read, Pelini has put that fire back into the TEAM. The key is TEAM. Callahan had individuals, Pelini has a TEAM.

From the Big 12 media days:

Josh Freeman blamed the K-Satan 4 game losing streak on "Snyder's players" on purpose undermining the Purple Prince's efforts. I hope the "Pelini Purification Process" works better than the "Patented Purple Prince Purification Process"

  13. Wasn't there a similar situation that happened at NU with the-coach-whose-name-is-not-to-be-mentioned? Was it Keller after his injury (maybe) or am I just totally confused?

no, it was when Mann went down with Mono, and lost all of that weight. an interview with Kurts dad, said that basically if you were hurt/unable to contribute you didnt really matter

Thanks. That was it. Damn this Alzheim . . . . I like pudding.

  14. You know, what Jason reports about Holtz is absolutely true. There was a kid that played for Holtz at Notre Dame named Huffman. His brother played for Holtz when Holtz was at Arkansas. When the younger Huffman was injured, he said that Holtz made it clear that he was a "non-entity" until such time as he could contribute.

Same thing happened all the time at Arkansas. A cold way of viewing the very people that can make or break you as a coach...
