  1. this day and age, it likey won't happen that we got 30+ years with 9 wins or more again. Even with all the new bowls and everything, and thanks to Michigan svcking last year, I feel our Bowl Streak record will never get broken cuz everyone is just getting so equal.

  2. I was curious how many of you fans that live here in state are NOT going to the opening game! I'm just a student out at the community college here in Lincoln, but I try to get to every husker game possible, this year for the first week, I'm not so sure that i'll even be going to the first game. I think I'm gunna head to sportscasters or BW3's and watch the game there, so I can also watch the other big games of the day. The first week is gunna be a doozy on a national scale!

    Notable Games:

    Obviously the Nebraska game.

    Okie State vs Georgia

    Alabama vs Va Tech

there are others but i don't have the list in front of me

  3. for what its worth, I have baylor going 7-5 this year,

Aside from the Northwestern State, Kent State, ISU and probably A&M game which other 3 games do you see Baylor winning? I assume it would be 3 of these games at Wake, UConn, at Mizzou, & Tech (Dallas) because there is no way they beat OSU, OU or Texas and you said they will lose to NU.

Yes I have them winning at Wake (toughest of the 3), at Mizzou (shoulda beat them last year) and vs UConn. I have the Tech game as a tossup, but i gave it to Tech in the w/l column.

  4. for what its worth, I have baylor going 7-5 this year, and have them as a trap game for us since its the week before the OU game. They have talent all over the field, its just their OLine that is suspect from last season. David Gettis at WR will be their go to guy, and was a very good recruit out of high school. Nobody seems to remember their RB in Jay Finley due to the fact that everyone is just completely facinated with mobile qb's they tend to forget the other playmakers.

Nebraska will win, but i'm taking baylor to beat the line, unless its less than a 4 pt spread.

  5. am a tigers fan but anyone who doesn't pick KU is not paying attention. This a league about qb's and Reesing is just damn tough, is best in the north and no one is in second play and has what many experts say is THE best Wr corp in the country, plus a serviceable rb in sharp. NU? no proven playmakers at qb and almost no production at wr. what you have is two good not grt backs and a solid TE. Your Oline is ok nothing special and when teams shut down your running, which they will, Lee is a total unknown to make big plays as he had no PT last yr. could he be solid? sure but just as easily he could not be. You can say the same thing for MU which has without question the most talented qb in North but hasn't played for the last two years as he was hurt early in his sr hs yr. He is big, talented and with a cannon arm but hasn't done it yet. DW is best rb in north without question and backup is very good so it looks like they will run the ball more. Has most talented Oline and it is a spread team so easiest to replace on they fly, like TTech.

Now the fun starts with matchups, with suhie and a solid Dline as NU's d strength they could really give KU problems as they have 3 rs freshmen Olinemen (including a RS freshmen TE who is being converted to LT and only weighed 260 in spring), so the only running KU will be doing will be Reesing, for his life! NU should be able to run the ball against KU, which takes pressure off Lee, game should be very interesting. Plus later in yr so Reesing could be beat up or gone by then. Very interesting.

NU against MU in Columbia, after taking a beating at blackwater, sorry dudes it is going to happen Vtech is very tough this year, MU probably has lost at Illinois as they have a veteran O and stars in Juice and Benn who is a monster and d has new coordinator and lots of new players, tho they are very fast and athletic, have to say both teams have one loss. NU won't be successful running the ball and passing will be difficult. MU will be able to pass the ball effectively as lbers and secondary are inexperienced and tigers are talented and led by two outstanding seniors, Washington will do well running the ball. Have to give this one to Tigers.

as for rest of schedule? who knows, MU loses at OKS and tx, beats baylor at home. MU wins rest of schedule easily, KU by then will have a very beat up Reesing and defense isn't much.

NU still has to go to Baylor, trap game Griffin is very good, OU is a beatdown and tech is another very tough game, Leach always has the Offense ready to go, huskers still ahve to go to CU and Cu had you last yr when they were terrible.

point is, no one can really predict this year, you are optimistic, beakers are as well and they have the most productive offense to justify their confidence, Tigers are young but more athletic and faster than ever. Who will win? Is why they play the games. Enjoy the season and don't take it to seriously, all teams are in flux and no one has a chance to beat the south team in championship game anyway, so what does it matter?

I'm sorry but I think you should re-read what you posted, then ask your self this one simple question, "Do I make any sense?" The answer to that question is no. You just wait till we travel down to columbia fella. Missouri's time on top is over. You failed to mention that you are replacing and offensive coordinator that is really the reason pinkel had any success for the first time since....well ever. You also replace a defensive coordinator from a team that was out right horrible last year after the nebraska game. You lose your best QB, TE, and WR in school history! Derek Washington is good, but not great, and you got the Gabbert that is lesser than what we'll have. Blaine got benched in high school and replaced by his brother who outplayed him during the time he was out. MU will do no better than 6-6....

  6. I'm sure non of you will think this is very credible but I had UNC going 10-2 this year, and Nebraska to be 11-1 with its only loss coming against VT...i think we'll beat OU at home, only because I think that OU's line will not even be near as good as they were a year ago. Bradford will be running out of the pocket ALOT more this year...

  7. I love lincoln, thats why I live here obviously. Although I have noticed that there is absolutely NOTHING to do during the summer, or pretty much once football is over. Lincoln kinda turns into a dull regular small city. During football season everyone seems to be real excited everywhere I go, talking about the football team etc....but I never go anywhere after football season is over and hear people excited about wrestling or basketball, during the spring it doesn't help that the baseball team is struggling either.

Now i'm not suggesting that some kids don't come here because of the other main sports programs being sub par, but is it out of the question? I don't really know how a kid thinks. I just know that if it was me and I had to chose between Nebraska and Florida. I wouldn't never base MY decision off of how great the team USED to be. Its all about winning in my mind, and Nebraska will do that alot soon, but these kids dont' see it yet.

  8. Nebraska is 1-7 vs Texas since the inception of the big 12, but this isn't what I want to talk about. I don't know if any of you have noticed or gone back to look at past scores but I thought it was interesting that everytime we play Texas, the game is relatively close.

    1996: 37-27 UT

    1998: 20-16 UT

    1999: 24-20 UT

    1999: 22-6 NU* (big 12 title game)

    2002: 27-24 UT

    2003: 31-7 Vince Young

    2006: 22-20 UT

    2007: 28-25 UT

So 6 out of the 8 times we've played them its been 10 or less points. of those 6, 5 were decided by 4 points or less. So what i'm getting at, is that no matter how good either side is, they always seem to play a heck of a game, classics if you will.

I just thought it was interesting....

  9. I completely 100 percent agree, with the exception of missouri being tossed in there. I had Missouri going 5-7, but others may see them as a contender for the north still. If KU can win just 1 of those 3 road games...our game with them becomes just that much more important.

I had the 4 teams finish in this order

    1. Nebraska

    2. Colorado

    3. Kansas

    4. Missouri

  10. Time will tell, but before we accept the North Division Trophy maybe we could beat a top 25 team. The Kool-Aid tastes good but I am afraid that some of you may OD on the stuff. We have been one of the most irrelevant CFB teams for the last six or seven seasons but still think we deserve the respect that USC, UT, or OU gets.

Win, and you can shut chumps like this guy up.

wow, let me assure you people that I'm a freakin Husker fan, I'm just not a huge red kool aid / sunshine pumper like the rest of Nebraska computer chair quarterbacks. I consider myself to be a realist. I will admit I wasn't really focusing on CU's defensive side of the ball. However with the given schedule I just don't see how they can't be AT LEAST 8-3 coming in to the game vs Nebraska. Either way, this isn't the first time i've been called a "chump", "troll" or whatever, i'm not here to say things just to erk you. I'm saying things that are interesting for discussion. Take off the red sunglasses and actually look at other teams progress rather than just basing you're decisions on how well Nebraska recruits.

anyway it is, in fact, sad that Nebraska hasn't beaten a top 19 team since 2001, NU has been one of, if not thee most irrelevant major program in the decade.

  12. I hate it that i'm defending colorado, but yea sure MU beat them 58-0, well MU beat us 52-10....well 17 if you really count that last score. The game was done. Maybe Nebraska needs to get up for games like Colorado now, maybe we'll see another 62-36 if we don't.

Like have said before, Colorado does get KU, MU and NU all at home....I think thats pretty favorable when those are the top 3 besides CU in the North. Its going to be a wild ride in the big12 again this year

  13. I found the RB comment particularly funny. I think Derrick Washington is a very good back, but to say that Helu isn't as good as him is crazy. Helu had a YPC average a half a yard better than Washington, 6.4 vs. 5.9 ypc. I wouldn't put Castille in the same category, but he is a very good back in his own right and NU clearly has the best RB stable in North.

I agree with that statement 100 percent, in the preseason. I think that by seasons end you'll see that CU has a plethra of good young backs, that could end up being the reason why I think they'll finish #2 and god forbid maybe #1 in the North. I also think that Colorado's schedule helps them out BIGTIME! They get Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska at home. Granted they play Okie State and Texas away, but as much as I hate the Buffaloes, they very well could be riding a 9-2 record going into that game with Nebraska, even though I have them beating Texas, and its only a hunch because Texas always seems to beat OU and then screw everything up by losing later and I felt the only place it could be was vs Colorado. So as long as Hawkins doesn't start his kid at QB they should be, as much as i don't wanna say it, rather good.

  14. I've always said that I could handle a change, I like the way it is, but both sides of the decision are selfish. Things have to change one way or another at some point.

Like I said, I like it, but I can see the argument about not being able to get pumped up to it, I wanna see the entire stadium rocking when the team enters the field...I know alot of people use this as an example, but you'll see a really intimidating entrance if you go to Blacksburg this year. I'm going, hope alot of the husker faithful are as well
