  1. we'll be ranked Sunday for sure.....in the coaches poll at least....

    ECU lost

    WVA lost

    FSU lost

    ASU lost

    Oregon lost

Boise will pry jump us, but if you look at it after that......no one there can jump us....Okie State was off this week as well....so I think we'll be sitting right at #25 tomorrow, I would be surprised to see us still unranked

  2. LSU gave up 48 points to kentucky last year and 50 to Arkansas and they won the national title......

not trying to defend Misery but someone just didn't remember the horrible year last year that was 2007. ;)

  3. I was reading a previous thread about Missouri's schedule and how easy it is. There was a post in there about there not being any SOS formula in the BCS, and honestly I think that is a complete joke. DON’T PUNISH GREAT TEAMS FOR LOSING A CLOSE GAME LATE IN THE SEASON!!!!!!

honestly the preseason polls are what is messing up the BCS, they shouldn't have any polls till the week before conference starts. Now do you think that their should be some sort of a SOS formula in College Football?

I honestly say yes...and here's how it should be based on. First of all you need to come up with a point system (just like High School ball here in Nebraska). Teams in college generally play 13 games, possibly 14 (the way to make this work, conference championship games should be thrown out. Every team plays equal amount of games for the regular season, which is 12) In high school here in Nebraska its 9 (for class A and B) 8 for (C1, C2, D1, D2)

In high school here in nebraska it works like this, they take the final record of everyone and apply a point total to those records. For example

Beating any team that is 7-1 or 6-2 at the end of the year gives you 50 "power points"

Beating a team that is 5-3, 4-4, or 3-5 gives you 45 "power points"

Any thing less than described above is only worth 40.

If you've lost to a team that ends up 8-0, 7-1, or 6-2 the team that lost gets 38 "power points"

If lost to a 5-3, 4-4, or 3-5 team, you get 33 "power Points"

anything less than 3-5, you get 28.

Now applying this simple formula to College Football....what I described earlier, Teams general play 12 games in the regular season, some play 11, but lets just talk about the teams that play 12, just to keep it easy. So lets do this....

Wins vs teams with these records translates to this many points....

    11-1 = 60 points

    10-2 = 60 points

    9-3 = 60 points

    8-4 = 55 points

    7-5 = 55 points

    6-6 = 55 points

    5-7 = 50 points

    4-8 = 50 points

    3-9 = 50 points

    2-10 = 45 points

    1-11 = 45 points

    0-12 = 45 points

Losses vs teams with these records equals this many points

    12-0 = 43 points

    11-1 = 43 points

    10-2 = 43 points

    9-3 = 38 points

    8-4 = 38 points

    7-5 = 38 points

    6-6 = 33 points

    5-7 = 33 points

    4-8 = 33 points

    3-9 = 28 points

    2-10 = 28 points

    1-11 = 28 points

--------------------------------------------------------- Are you with me so far?

After the regular season is completed you would then take the total points each team earned and divide it by 12, take that average and apply it accordingly. Now for kicks and giggles lets just take the LSU and NU schedules for example last year, just to give you an idea of what it would look like.

LSU’s Schedule looked like this (teams finished regular season record)

    W - Miss State 7-5 = 55 points

    W - Virginia Tech 10-2 = 60 points

    W - Middle Tenn 5-7 = 50 points

    W - South Carolina 6-6 = 55 points

    W – Tulane 4-8 = 50 points

    W – Florida 9-3 = 60 points

    L – Kentucky 7-5 = 38 points

    W – Auburn 8-4 = 55 points

    W – Alabama 6-6 = 55 points

    W - Louisiana Tech 5-7 = 50 points

    W - Ole Miss 3-9 = 50 points

    L – Arkansas 8-4 = 38 points

    Total Points accumulated = 616

    Point Average = 51.333

    Nebraska’s Schedule

    W – Nevada 6-6 = 55 points

    W – Wake Forest 8-4 = 55 points

    L – USC 10-2 = 43 points

    W – Ball State 7-5 = 55 points

    W – Iowa State 3-9 = 50 points

    L – Missouri 11-1 = 43 points

    L – Okie State 6-6 = 33 points

    L – Texas A&M 7-5 = 38 points

    L – Texas 9-3 = 38 points

    L – Kansas 11-1 = 43 points

    W- Kansas St 5-7 = 50 points

    L – Colorado 6-6 = 33 points

    Total Points Accumulated = 536

    Point Average = 44.667

After you list greatest average to lowest average that will give you eachs strength of schedule...implement it into the BCS formula!

    THOUGHTS?

  4. Just re-read your post and i'm not done...

your out of conference games were:

Central Michigan - like you said, finished 8-6 won the MAC

Southeastern Louisiana - finished 3-8 only beating 2 D2 teams and Nichols State

    Toledo - finshed 5-7

    FIU - 2007 Season: 1-11 ... do i have to say more?

In conference, while I know the school has no control over:

K-state - A team who has been struggling, but was ranked at the time (24)

    Baylor - no explanation needed...

Colorado - See k-state (without the ranked part)

Texas A&M - mediocre year for the aggies, Quality win for KU

Nebraska - A scoring explosion by both sides early, but Nebraska had serious troubles last year

Oklahoma State - Just came off a bad loss to Texas, barely finished above .500

Iowa State - the baylor of the north

Missouri - Need i say more?

    I mean come on...

Despite my obvious bitterness, you miss my point. I am saying Central Michigan is mediocre, and everyone else is here calls them weak. OK, well, they are better than Western Michigan regardless. We beat the better Central Michigan 52-7, so if you can compete with us, you should be able to beat Western Michigan. That is my point....

The rest is just my bitter rant. (A&M and OSU on the road not otugh? CU in Boulder not tough? Come on, some credit???)

OK, enough ranting, I want to know how can the Mighty Cornhyskers have a fair contingent of fans afraid of these guys. I am trying to stay on toipic, and that is what I want to know. they have ZERO faith in what is going on. Western Michigan is not good by pretty much any measure.

What is the difference between 2007 and 2008? ITS 2 DIFFERENT YEARS. Oh i guess LSU is going to beat OSU in the championship this year again cuz it happened last year.

WMU returns what? 18 starters? Granted they weren't that great last year, and in no way shape or form am I scared about this game. I am going to say that I have faith in my team, but I think KU is going to need alot more than fan support for what is instore for them in 2008....

I want to know, do people down in Lawrence really think that KU will do better than 8-4? Especially with Oklahoma, Texas, AND Texas Tech on your schedule, plus Mizzou, potential Big East Champion South Florida, and upcoming Colorado? Not to mention KU visits Lincoln, where you haven't won at since god knows when. Actually this just sounds stupid cuz I've mentioned most of the teams on the schedule but alot of people aren't talking about KSU, and I personally am more scared of that game than our game with KU.

Case and point -- KU's schedule is brutal, KU has like 7-8 games that are "TOSSUPS" or "PROBABLE LOSSES"

    heard it here first

  5. Are you freakin kidding me? Who is going to be the reciever for the class? Brady Brown went to freakin Vandy over us, He's got good measurables....bring him "N" because we know this staff can develop

  6. I was going to say that I think its apparent and shouldn't even be questioned that he'll get a 5th star, cuz remember that 4* was basically going off of his SOPHMORE year due to the injury he had as a Junior.

I think you'll see alot of the kids we have committed now, be moved up in rankings, I believe in this staff so much that I think they know how to recruit better than Cally

  7. just because he says theres a good chance that shirt won't be red.. doesn't mean it won't be red.. and even if its not, that doesn't mean it'll be black.. tbh, i'd think more white, but thats just me... even if it's black.. there won't be a b*******.. even when they try.. it sucks.. its worthless.. dumb..

Ok now I'm mad at husker fans...If the staff/administration/players etc...if they want a b******* and they are asking for the support to do it...THEN DO IT. Us as fans are not HIGHER UP than TO or BO. Do you want to go back to prominance like before...then support the program in whatever it does and quit whining about a dumb color they may or may not want you to wear to the game.

  8. Where's the novelty in wearing Nebraska stuff in Nebraska?

I wear it out here to attract attention from other displaced Huskers..Sometimes I'll even get an occasional Sooner come up to me and reminisce about past games.

I wear ASU stuff whenever I go back to Nebraska..I can't believe how many semi-hot Chicks came up to me at P.O.Pears last time I was home, asking if I lived in AZ.

Shy (ugly) people like me need icebreakers for people to notice us.

Today, I'm wearing a (W.Moon) Vikings jersey at work and already had someone ask if I was a fan..(I usually only watch teams that have former Huskers on the roster).

I replied, No, I just bought the shirt for a couple bucks at a garage sale, and I don't want to ruin my good (Husker) stuff.

Your post about wearing ASU stuff here in Nebraska reminded me of my trip I took to Rapid City not long ago....we stopped in Chadron and I was wearing a Padres shirt and the guy at a C-store in Chadron asked me if I was from San Diego....I just laughed and said no. I guess I understand that some people would think you are from that place seeing you wear it.

  9. I was walking around at the mall on 56th and O streets the other day and its sad to see how many more MISSOURI shirts and hats I see walking around the mall as if I were in Columbia, but then again its not only Missouri. A few years ago it was TEXAS, and before that it was USC....getting pretty annoying to see the younger fan base like 17 - 25 years old (that I'm in) wearing other teams colors. Heck I've been seeing alot more Kansas stuff than usual. Kind of disgraceful if you ask me.....oh well just thought I needed to vent.

  10. I haven't been to a game since 2002 but now that I live in Lincoln its going to be alot easier for me to go.

Only been to 2 games in my life, i'm only 20 but we are 1 and 1 with my presence at the stadium

    1999 or 2000 20-17 win over S. Miss

2002 24-27 loss to Texas (damn Lord for throwing that pass)
