  1. Wrong.

Zac Lee is not that good he is another average qb.

If cody comes here he has a very good shot at taking down Lee who by the way wont even be the back up this year...it will be Pat Witt who is also just average.

If green comes here he can dethrone either one of them.

WRONG! Zac Lee is a tremendous QB with exceptional mechanics, from what i'm hearing he still needs to learn the system...

Lee will be the back up, and you were right about Witt being an average QB

and you were half right about Green...who would be nice to get but i wouldn't mind getting Scheelhaase over Green.

  2. I stole the below from another board. It validates what I have been saying all along --- Pelini is inheriting far less talent than did Callahan --- and that the talent level at NU after Callahan is worse than it was when Callahan arrived.

I saw this posted over on BigRedReport by most excellent poster HuskerDynasty :

Callahan inherited no less than 26 guys that went on to sign NFL contracts. I guess we'll have to wait four years to see if Bo has that many, but it's pretty safe to assume it won't be much different than that. In fact, if you look at all-Big 12 selections, Bo is coming into a much worse situation talent-wise. Bo is inheriting 1 2nd team All Big 12 and 4 Honorable Mentions. Callahan inherited 3 All Americans, 4 1st team All Big 12, 1 2nd team and 5 HM.

Callahan inherited seven heralded players (All American or 1st team all conference) and left Pelini with 0.

    Zero. Nada. Not one.

People forget that in Callahan's recruiting classes ca. 1/2 the players who were highly rated are gone (did not make grades, discipline trouble, washed out, or did not pan out). Also, the vast majority of the high profile players that NU courted (and in so doing got everyone so enamored of Callahan's recruiting ability) chose another school with NU as the # 2 option. The impression is that of great recruiting --- the reality is very different.

Pelini has inherited a team with mid-conference talent, perhaps in the # 5-7 range in the Big 12 and no better than the top 35 or so nationally.

Bear this in mind as Pelini goes into this season. Seven wins will be quite, quite the challenge --- and Pelini is a great coach --- he may get NU there --- may get 7 wins --- but expect no more (hope for, sure --- expect, no, that would not be realistic).

Keep in mind that Bo Pelini is inheriting a team that went 5-7 mainly due to horrible defense

BC inherited a team that was 10-3 top 10 in D nationally and he went 5-6 the next year

lets just say that BP goes 10-2 regular season....what does that tell me? Coaching bar none....thats all it was and is. Nebraska has the talent, i've been reading alot of article that support that. The fact of the matter is getting them to play FOR NEBRASKA with passion and all that.

Anyone who really thinks that the talent level that was left when BC came is coo coo. Just look at the players they look so much more physical especially our DB's now. Would you take pat ricketts and put him on last years defense with no pass rush over Armando Murillo? highly doubtful.

  3. Fabled Coach: TOM OSBORNE

Legendary Player: Tommie Frazier or Brooke Berringer

A Memorial Play: The punt return from the Game of the Century or Eric Crouch Miracle Catch against OU

    A Unique Mascot: Lil' Red

I'm not buying this whole Berringer thing....sure he was a great QB and all that....but if it weren't for the tragic event that took his life.....would we be saying that he is the face of the program? NO probably not.

  4. AMAZING athlete in terms of running track for just a sophmore. Saw him run the 300 IH at State Track this weekend. Ran a 38.8 =, by the time he's a senior he'll get the state record i would assume. My cousin's who was also running in that event had his mom talk to Stephon before the finals, and she said all he was concerned about is getting that record, so he's definitely a hard worker. Respectable kid from what my aunt said.

not sure about football skills but....Coach O, recruited track athletes and developed them

  5. I have seen this kid play and run track numerous times....very impressive on a state level. Under the old staff he wouldn't even sniff an offer, but I believe he has talent to work with....wouldn't be a early contributor.

    As for measurables -- this all approx. 5-9 , 165-170 , 4.5

I saw him run at State track this past weekend his 100 meter dash time was 11.1

  6. rofl on another message board.

    here are his reasons.

A- I don't think there are any more passionate fans in the country than LSU fans

B- When considering the most passionate fans, I rarely ever hear NU fans mentioned

C- I hung around a bunch of NU fans in S.A. in '03 for their bowl game vs. Mich. St. --- talked mad sh#t to them for about 3 days straight and never heard as much of a peep in response.

Reason A -- Crock of crap right there

Reason B -- How does NU not get mentioned? Just cuz our team put a bad product on the field doesn't mean the fans go away!

Reason C -- Thats because we aren't classless and don't have to talk trash to make us feel good like LSU Fans

  7. Nice read, I think it has alot of valid points and the question that's coming to my head is this....

    "Well, Why not?"

I was thinking, because we already run some of that Zone Read out of the shotgun, all you have to do as a Coach/OC is just implement little bits of it at a time. Like you were saying Ganz will be fine but he's no VY or DD and the such. I do however think this kind of Offense would play right into Zach Lee's strengths in a year or 2. Your thoughts?
