Breon Dixon being off the depth chart in favor of Caleb Tannor is super intriguing. I wonder if that's only performance related or if there is some kind of behavioral situation at play. Good on Tannor for positioning himself for playing time after not being here in the spring.

FWIW. Jovan Dewitt did tell all of us coaches that #34 drove him nuts in the spring during the coaches clinic. This was went he was showing clips of drills. So, for me, it's not all that surprising after hearing what he told us in attendance

  2. We drove 9 hours to wrestling camp this year in Dubuque, IA.

If you can keep yourself entertained it’s not bad, at least for me. However both drives were fine because we were there for 4.5 days.

Road games suck for us out here west of Lexington. It’s 3 hours to Lincoln and 3.5 to Boulder. So a road game to CU is about the same as a home game for us.

There is also the fact that travel on Friday is impossible with coaching HS football, at least till the final 3-4 games for NU. Even then the other coaches have to understand that I wouldn’t pull my weight on film for that week if it were during HS season.

    Such is life though.

Gebbia took first reps today and is the first QB on the 110 Roster. Interesting.

In my opinion. This does not matter. I think the only way Gebbia starts is if Martinez hasn’t developed or is injured.

if the “race” is close. You give it to the guy with better physical skills/measurable. The only way physical skills/measurable don’t come into play here is if the mental part is completely lopsided.

  4. I’m just excited to see tough nosed football. Regardless of the wins. I’m fine with 6-6 in year one as long as the players show the some testi.....mental fortitude game 1 through 12. Though I truly think NU will win 9 games.

No more tails between the legs and “oh no we suck again” crap

16 years of crappy NU football. Ready for it to change.

  5. How is it that you have to have evidence that you talked to your wife. That’s ludicrous.

Urban freaking knew. He knew about 2009 and he knew about 2015 and everything in between.

Anyone who thinks that spouses don’t talk to one another in their home is nuts.

    Urban is gone

why else would Smith also say in a text to his wife that if this all came out and he got fired he was gunna bring everyone down with him? Because THEY ALL KNEW IT WAS GOING ON!

Oh, and Akron went 6-2 in the MAC and won its first division title in 12 years. The Zips beat WMU, Buffalo, Ohio, and Kent by a combined 15 points while losing to Toledo and Miami (Ohio) by a combined 37. They saved their best performance for their biggest game, a 37-34 upset of Ohio in mid-November.

They got obliterated by Toledo (in the MAC title game) and FAU (in the Boca Raton Bowl) to finish the season, yes. The Rockets and Owls pasted them by a combined 95-31. Because of this and blowout losses to Penn State and Iowa State in non-conference play (plus a tight loss at Troy), Akron finished with a rare 7-7 record.

  7. So the mass they are building will obviously help them shed the bad weight later. It's not going to be instantaneous.

However I posted this back when I did my recap of the coaches clinic in April.

Khalil Mack was the example on how he came in weighing 219 and 15% BF, left the program at 265 and 7% BF.

Don't get too worried about weight gain, considering I don't think Frost's philosophy is about Speed as much as it is about Playing fast and processing fast in the mind. He never said anything about making sure were slim enough to out run everyone. He wants to play physical football. He just wants to do it from the spread. Which is completely possible and some people tend to think that "physical" means Stanford....not even close.

  8. I like the N on the front hip of the pants. Im not a fan of stripes on the pants, said it for years that I hate it. I also don't like the black shoes, BUT, if we were to go with black shoes it has to be with white socks. I hated the black shoes and black calf high socks we had in the mid 2000's

I'm not a big fan of the Adidas logo being under the Husker patch either but I don't really care either.

I would really like to see All white uni's without the stripes on the pants with that chrome lettering and facemask. Or, do a throwback uni to the "old gold knights" and use UCF's stuff without the "UCF" ;)
