  1. I hate how nobody thinks Khiry has a shot to be a major contributor in football because he won't give up baseball. Pretty ironic considering how excited everyone was when he turned down good money to play football and baseball for us. What's even more ironic is everyone wanting Khiry to give up baseball YET still wanting Bubba to come in and play BOTH SPORTS! Bubba should learn from Khiry's situation. Why turn down MAJOR money if you're not going to have a chance to contribute on the football field? I LOVE my Husker's but I think Bubba should go pro.

  2. They're a five-win team this year, in one sport, a sport where they were in the MNC game last year. Texas is not really analogous to Notre Dame here. Texas is a perennial power in a huge football state with several large media markets and a broader national appeal. It's a pretty smart deal for ESPN in football alone.

But the Longhorns also typically excel at men's hoops, women's volleyball, baseball and a few other Olympic sports. They have a darned good athletic program down in Austin, and they'll have no trouble filling air time. Heck, I'd like the Bevo network just to watch their women's VB matches.

Come on man! How can you put Texas above Notre Dame. Texas is a fad, Notre Dame is backed a religion. 11 titles and 7 Heisman's are much greater than 10 years of being pretty good.

  3. Lavonte set the single season record for tackles tonight, and Kyler Reed set a record for TD catches bye a Nebraska TE with 8.

Reed is good. Wats can now move him to slot and complete erase his effectiveness from the program. Good luck Mike McNeil!

LOL! Dumb thing is I can see that happening. Gilmore can't coach up his own talent so he borrows coach Brown's TEnds. Kyler is a player but he would suck under Gilmore!!

  4. Cody's a man-child. Alright, he doesn't have to emerge cloaked and hidden from the third string. He'll ride in with armor and banners and trumpets heralding his arrival from days out. And the 'clones will shake in fear.

@Sipple (maybe) and the leakers though... <_<

But it's OK. Cody knows there's a time for retribution, but right now he's got a bunch of asses to kick first.

You guys are forgetting the other speedster in the QB position to run the zone read... Brion Carnes. LOL

Burn Brion Carnes's redshirt? STOP IT!

We run a zone read option attack and we have a 6'3 230 lb option style QB sitting on the bench and we're worried about depth and talking about burning redshirts! STOP IT!!!!

  5. I think we have a lot of talent at receiver right now...

Niles Paul is rated as one of the top players coming out of college this next year at the receiver position. There is a VERY good chance he will be drafted somewhere in the first 3-4 rounds.

Brandon Kinnie came on strong at the end of the season last year. Once he got his routes and the playbook down he really started to shine. I think he's gonna do big things this fall... and he'll be here next year to add to it.

Mike McNeill has lost some weight, gained some speed, and we all know he can catch and run routes well. I think the fact that he is a dual threat at the TE position and WR position will allow us to run some offenses that disguise our plays. I also forsee him have the ball in his hands a lot this season.

Stanley Jean Baptiste is going to be a good one... he'll sit out the first half of the season and then get playing time the second half of the season... look for him to have a year like Kinnie did last year and come on strong at the end of this season.

Quincy Enunwa is also going to be great... he was a steal of last years recruiting class and was underrated as a recruit. He was just getting comfortable with the game and the position his senior year of high school and really impressed by the end of the year. I see him red shirting this year and then being a contributor next year and a starter his sophomore year.

I don't see Currenski Gillyean, Khiry Cooper, Will Henry, Antonio Bell, Kenny Bell, and Tyler Evans being great this year... the freshmen will redshirt, and the others will contribute some but I don't think they'll do anything amazing.

Solid post! I'm with you on the majority of your picks. Niles Paul is arguably one of the top five wideouts going in to next season. I also think Brandon Kinnie is very good. I think he has the size and talent to play in the NFL someday. Khiry Cooper's routes are fluent and he has very good hands which is why i feel he'll be a pretty good player for us. My fourth choice at wideout is Quincy Enunwa. I have a really good feeling about him. I feel that he can contribute this year.

I think the depth chart could look something like this:

Z: Niles Paul, Antonio Bell, Joe Broekemeier

X: Brandon Kinnie, Quincy Enunwa, Tim Marlowe

Y: Khiry Cooper, Will Henry, Stanley Jean-Baptiste

H: Mike McNeil, Currenski Gilleylen, KC Hyland

Antonio Bell is second string at Corner. He comes in for Alfonzo in the 4th quarter.

  6. Imagine last season without Suh! He was good enough to play as a true freshman but an injury eventually forced him to redshirt, allowing him an extra year to develop. I would rather have Suh as a 5th year senior than have him be a minor contributor as a true freshman.

Chase will NOT start and he will NOT be first off the bench. Redshirt him!!!! It will help him and the program in the long run!

  7. Who the hell cares what time the game is at? Either way we're gonna beat down Texas like never before.

    GBR!!!!! :throwdabones1::throwdabones1:

I hope we play early! The sooner Texas gets their beat down the better. They think they'll be alright because Suh's gone; well Crick will let the nation see that day that we mean business.

  9. One of, if not, my favorite play of all time. I remember having to order this game on Gameplan PPV since ABC wasn't showing it in my area and was so mad the entire game until this play to send it to overtime and keeping our national titles hopes alive! :D

Hmmm... did anyone else pay attention to the clock?

  10. Locker vs. Crouch... the difference.

Locker probably plays in the pros.

    Crouch had better support players.

The difference between Crouch and Locker? Hmmm... one of the two owns more Heisman's than both Washington and Iowa St combined. Other than that, the difference is Locker is better in the passing game while Crouch is light years ahead of him on the ground. Funny how people seem to have forgotten how good of a player Crouch was.

    The Eric Crouch tape:

  11. as much as i would like to see nu beat texas, i doubt it will happen....they out-recruit us..though the 2011 class is shaping up nicely

Would somebody please get this gentleman some kool-aid!

That's how most fans sounded last year when we played both OU and UT! We're 127 days away from the whole nation BO-lieving!

  12. We are all pretty upset about everything that went on with UT and the Big XII. With that being said, would it bother you if UT took over the PAC like they did the Big XII? Should we as Huskers be rooting for the PAC to beat the BIG XII South schools or beat just UT? Should we cheer for our soon to be former conference members or should we not care at all? Last question is who will be the top 5 teams in the PAC?

I'm thinking PAC rankings from #1-5 will go...

    #1 Oklahoma

    #2 USC

    #3 Texas

    #4 Oregon

    #5 Texas A&M

My sleeper picks would be UCLA and Texas A&M. With USC dealing with NCAA sanctions, UCLA might rise back to where they were in the 90's. My other pick, Texas A&M could make noise as early as this year.

  13. Offense

Qb: Z Lee, C Green or T Martinez, L Washington

    Rb: R Helu, R Burkhead, D Robinson, L Ward

    Fb: T Legate, CJ Zimmerer

    X : N Paul, A Bell, K Cooper, KC Hyland,

    Z : B Kinnie, C Gilleylen, Q Enunwa, W Henry

    H : M McNeil, K Reed, KC Hyland

    Te: Young, Reed, Cotton, Harper

    Rt: M Jones, DJ Jones

    Rg: R Henry, B Qvale

    C: M Caputo, C Pensick, M Smith

    Lg: K Williams, M Smith

    Lt: J Hardrick, J Sirles

    Defense

    De: P Allen, J Williams

Dt: T Moore or B Stein

    Dt: J Crick, T Randle

    De: C Meredith, J Ankrah

    Wlb: W Compton, S Fisher, M May, M Kreikemeier

    Mlb: A Whaley, E Martin, L David, M Holt

    Pb: E Hagg, A Cassidy

    Cb: A Dennard, A Green, L Middleton

    Ss: PJ Smith, A West,

    Fs: R Thenarse, D Gomes, C Osborne

    Cb: P Amukamara, A Blue, C Evans

    Db: D Gomes, L Thorell, D Washington

    Qb: A West

Still can't tell what's going to happen at the linebacker position. David is a sleeper right now. I'd also think May would be able to play the peso back since he is a safety turned backer but I'm not sure if that will happen.

  14. I guess for the future, I'm most interested in seeing if Kody can come back from his injury and compete. Right now, I'm too scared about all the other guys (except Lee) starting to be excited for them, so it's gotta be Lee.

One thing I disagree with is "Brion Carnes' tape blows them all away!" Doubt it. We get too excited about new recruits and too down on current players and sometimes forget that our current players we like to rag on were all high school stalwarts with stud tapes too.

Think what you want but Brion's tape is awesome! Reminds me of a mix of Tyrod Taylor and Seneca Wallace!

    Brion Carnes:

Some of the other qb tapes

    Cody Green:

    Zac Lee: http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recruiting-football/Zac-Lee-San-Francisco--7289

    Latravis: http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recruiting-football/Latravis-Washington-Bra-16523;_ylt=Ak5LC76NfR9tastRKluspl45zJR4

  15. With the exception of the Sun Belt schedule and the Holiday Bowl, the offense really had a thud of a season. The QB play was below average and at times just bad. With that said, there still seems to be an abundance of raw talent at the position. Zac Lee looked like the player we all hoped he'd be against Arizona. Green struggled most of the season but he still possesses a lot of "raw" talent. Latravis has a cannon for an arm to go with good speed and nice size. Taylor apparently has blazing speed. Ron was last year's scout team MVP. Kody was a decent recruit coming out of high school and Brion Carnes's tape blows them all away!

So my question to you is who would you like to see under center when September 4th comes around?

Who do you think will actually win the starting spot?

Which one of these guys excites you the most?
