You can't compare this class to all 120 schools (with Furman, Florida Atlantic, etc.). You have to compare it with its peers, which would be Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin. That's not even going out of conference.

I'm not saying we have to have 20 4/5 stars like Alabama, but this class.... is lacking relative to our peers', to say the least.

Doesn't matter how you compare it. It's still not a bad class.

You can't simply focus on the stars we signed. The crucial thing is, did we fill needs? O Line was not a need in this class. LB was a need. QB was a need. CB was a need (and we're short there, although CJ making it to campus will help).

We never signed the top class in the Big 8, either. Seemed to do OK there. We signed a top class once, near as I can remember. Failed miserably with it, too.

Didn't say it was a bad class. I didn't say I was using stars to evaluate it.

However, right now, you can't say it's a great class. That claim can be made after they've achieved success on the field, but right now, you can't compare it to the other elite schools'. It's a fine class as it stands, but with a completely non objective view, I would be hard pressed to say I wouldn't trade it for two dozen other classes out there.

Ha, you have got to be kidding! Please do enlighten us as to which two dozen other classes you would perfer this team brought in. (Not a mythical PS3 roster, but NU's current one.) And feel free to use that "completely non objective view" you spoke of.

Someone seems to be a tad bit angry. Fact of the matter is, this is our class so I'm content with it.

Look at it without a subjective view. Would you really not prefer the likes of:

    Texas', Cal's, Stanford's, Michigan's, Ohio State's, LSU's, Alabama's, USC's, Wisconsin's, Missouri's, Oklahoma's, Florida State's, Notre Dame's, Georgia's, UCLA's, South Carolina's, Auburns', Oregons, Clemson's, Miami's, etc?

As much as you think I'm being a debbie downer here, I'm only being objective while your post is on the attacking side and turns guests away from possibly joining this site.

Again, I want to say I'm content with this class and am looking forward to a lot of the recruits we managed to win over. As a whole, it's not a great class as of yet, but they could be in four years from now.

Angry? Far from it, your statement actually made me chuckle a little. Hence opening with a "Ha!"

To answer your question though, no I wouldn't trade a majority of those classes for ours. Manly due to the fact that they don't fit what NU is trying to do. Now of course I might trade ours for a ridiculous class like Bama's, but LSU's no, Mizzou's , no, Wisky's no, and Ucla's.... heck no. But each to his own I guess.

  2. We are done.

You may very well be correct. I do not know.

Why do you say with confidance that we are done. Again, you may be right. I am not contesting that. But... how do you know?

Cause aspeedlin knows. Even when he don't know. Ya know?

  3. I think all Bo's eggs were in one basket with Peat.. possible assuming that because his bro is here that he would come. I dont blame Peat for going to Stanford, just blame Bo for not MAKING SURE he comes here. I am dissapointed that we didnt have a backup plan. Just dont see how you cant get a guy here when his bro is already here...... baffled

In a perefect world this would be the case 100% of the time, but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world...

  5. I can't say I understand all this talk of moving one of our young RBs to defense. Sure it worked with Amukamara, but I don't think AA or Green are the same kind of player that he was. And I can't see Morrow and Cross moving either because they would almost certainly be LBs and the staff has put in a lot of work to bring in a handful of them in this class already. I could easily be mistaken, but IYAM this is prob more of a depth and size building plan for a backfield that could definitly use more of both.

  6. Overall, I think this is a great example of how we can recruit dual-threat QBs for a run-heavy offense with zone-read mixed in, who isn't a total project, a la Taylor or Cody Green.

I don't think Cody Green was much of a project. He looked pretty polished from day one, but he just didn't fulfill all of the hype. I could never figure out if it was his mentality or what exactly the reason was that he couldn't perform real well. One thing that he couldn't seem to be able to do was take some mustard off of his passes and put some touch on the ball. That was probably the biggest downfall to his game. The fumbles IMO were all mental.

  7. Plagues And Pleasures On The Salton Sea

"Once known as the California Riviera, the Salton Sea is now called one of America's worst ecological disasters: a fetid, stagnant, salty lake, coughing up dead fish and birds by the thousands. Yet a few hardy eccentrics hang on to hope, including a roadside nudist waving at passing European tourists, a man building a religious mountain out of mud and paint, beer-loving Hungarian Revolutionary Hunky Daddy, and the real-estate Ronald McDonald known simply as The Landman. Through their perceptions and misperceptions, the strange history and unexpected beauty of the Salton Sea is revealed."

  8. Is Caputo's situation different from those of Baker Steinkuhler and Rickey Thenarse last December?

"Yeah, I would say that," Pelini said.

Indeed, we do not really have other options at center.

At least - that is why it will look bad.

Could be worse. He could have beat the crap out of his ex-girl friend while the new boy friend and back up QB hid in the closet listening to her get her face slammed against a wall, door and shatter a glass window. And then we let him play. Or he could have grabbed a Kearney chick by the throat held her against the wall, grab her by the VaJay Jay and said "you're gonna be my bitch tonight", get convicted of assault, charged with rape by a second lady, and still get to play. But thats ok...cause they won a national championship.

Wow man, really? That was sure in great taste, and completely relevant.

  9. I believed there was some unwritten rule among B1G members that you don't go poaching other schools' coaches. Assuming that to be the case...Bo is the one that initiated this. Which also might be why TO hasn't heard anything about it...Penn State isn't the one contacting Bo, it's the other way around...?...

That's a lot of assumptions your throwing out there. I mean there's speculating and then there's throwing the proverbial s#!& at the wall...
