  1. I was walking around at the mall on 56th and O streets the other day and its sad to see how many more MISSOURI shirts and hats I see walking around the mall as if I were in Columbia, but then again its not only Missouri. A few years ago it was TEXAS, and before that it was USC....getting pretty annoying to see the younger fan base like 17 - 25 years old (that I'm in) wearing other teams colors. Heck I've been seeing alot more Kansas stuff than usual. Kind of disgraceful if you ask me.....oh well just thought I needed to vent.

    I can't speak for those people, who very well maybe fair weahter fans, but as a MU fan living in omaha, it has become MUCH easier to get your hands on MU gear in Omaha. Up untill this last year the only way I could get new stuff was online or when I made trips to KC. Hell now I can go to Oakview or Westroads and pick up my tiger gear.

    Plus in general its easier to support your team when they win. I.E. my many husker friends that no longer sport their Nebraska gear on a DAILY basis. They still have it and wear it but with MUCH less frequency

    Blasphemy.. Damn it.

    I wear Husker gear probably 3 to 5 days a week not counting the two new white caps that are clean as hell that I bought at Huskergear.com (Selfish promo) ;)

    Im 20 miles from freaking Norman. :box

    I'm with you on that. Hell I grew up a KC Royals fan. If you see some fool in omaha, probably the only one sporting Royals & Chiefs gear its me. There has never been a time it was cool to sport Royals gear in my lifetime. Atleast not since I was 3 there hasn't

  3. I am just curious how many people are going to jump of the free tv promo. ALL that has to happen in 10 regular season wins for Nebraska, then they have to win the Big 12 Championship. IF all that happens you get your new $3000+ tv for free.

    It would take a true homer to jump at that deal. I hate when people to "give-a-ways" that are near impossible.

    At my college there was an auto dealership that would always have a "free truck give-a-way" at football and basketball games. ALL you have to do is kick a 40 yrd field goal through the uprights and have the ball land in and stay in the bed of the pickup. Or JUST hit 3 half court shots in a row.

    What a joke. If I wasnt such a Mizzou fan I would pray that NU could make that happen this year and stick it to NFM.

  4. Its not rediculous or unwarrented...

    ...ANYTHING you say in media form (newspaper, radio, website, message board and even blogs) can come back to haunt you. If you write something it had better be true or close to it. ..

    Can you prove those statements?

    I'll agree this was a boneheaded move, but the only party I see being sucessful in a lawsuit would be the newspaper for format something or other.

    This could set a bad precident.

    These things are can be brought on a libel or slander case

    Attacks on a person's professional character or standing;

    Allegations that an unmarried person is unchaste;

    Allegations that a person is infected with a sexually transmitted disease;

    Allegations that the person has committed a crime of moral turpitude;

    The act is considered common law. In this case what the husker fan did is lible, because it was in written form or printed medium (i.e. newpaper, magizine, online article). Slander is when its spoken word.

    It is different from the Cally pictures because that was a parody of a well know figure. You couldnt prove it caused any harm to his reputaion and was not done to try and cause harm.

    The reason it could be a law suit in this case is it was done in malace and the figures could claim that harm was done to their reps because of a false crime allegation

    Look at it this way, on the news they have to say that someone is suspected of a crime. They can't say that person is guilty or say they commited the crime until after the trial proves they are. If a news anchor said that joe blow was arrested for commiting 'xyz' crime, instead of joe blow was arrested on suspecion of 'xyz' that could cause a law suit.

  5. 1620 nearly did, but the guy stopped halfway and said, "No, that can't be true." And then had some people go fact-check.

    This is a douchebag move (by the Husker fan), who I'll bet didn't realize the serious implications of doing what he did. But Landry Jones' father doesn't need to stoop down and match his douchebaggery by prosecuting him "to the full extent of the law." Puh-lease.

    The whole "I've got deep enough pockets to do it." statement was just over the top. Like I said earlier, what the fan did was wrong and he could, by law, be sued over it. However that jacka** statement by Landry's dad made me loss all symthapy. They have caused him public shame, I personnally think thats enough even though they could take it further

  6. There apparently were a few Texas media outlets who ran with this "story" once it was posted and essentially presented it as fact without any sort of fact-finding done at all.

    thats the lazy part. All they had to do was make a few phone calls to check facts and they would have seen it was bogus

  7. " The truth is, you can be sued for ANYTHING these days......literally."

    That is very true. Like the family that sued dateline and NBC because their molester son/husband commited suicide after the tv crew and cops approached his house to arrest him.

    i'm with you about a law suit crazy America. But this suprisingly has merit. It more than anything is a perfect example of someone who just has too much time on their hands

    <_<

    Has merit??? Maybe. But c'mon. This is the sports world. Rival fans do crazier things to each other and that's how it is. Things like this happen all the time in good fun. It's not like he's ripping an OU fan's testicles out of his pants. This wouldn't be an issue if the father wasn't such a d*ck. God forbid this guy's son play for Michigan and have to deal with OSU fans.

    "I'm going to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law," Jones said. "I've got deep enough pockets to do it."

    <_<

    Hey I'm not saying I would sue him. But it is a lesson that you need to be careful about what you say. To call someone a booger eater online is one thing. To post a fake news story using a format from a real newspaper is another. And fan on fan behavier is a totaly different story. I thought it was cleaver, but I also got my degree in broadcasting and had enough communication law courses to scary my rear end straight

  9. Its not rediculous or unwarrented

    Its called slander and lible (AKA Defamation) and ITS AGAINST THE LAW. Doing so against a person opens you up for a lawsuit. If he is sued by the father, and possible the paper for using their templet, then he should have paid better attention to what he posts. ANYTHING you say in media form (newspaper, radio, website, message board and even blogs) can come back to haunt you. If you write something it had better be true or close to it. You can't go around just saying what ever you want about people. You have a right to free speach, but that right is not protected in this case

  10. like many have said it goes both ways for sure. I will say this about the gentleman that had a bad experiance at Mizzou. I am sorry about that. Messing with someones car is taking it to far.

    I will say this though, i was at last years game. In a mizzou section with friends ( i am a mizzou fan) and about 10 guys, all husker fans took their seats. They ran their mouths for a good 30 mins before the game. held up signs about how mizzou sucks. everyother word was a curse word. Then the game started. They shut up and tried to pick fights when MU fans razzed them a little. And nothing more than just a little playful banter.

    I guess my point is, although messing with your car was taking it too far. Be AWARE that #1- you are on a college campus. MU - 35,000 18-22 year olds. #2- I am sure you were in full gear, had your car decked out, so on and so forth. You will get razzed at all most any opponent school.

    for me, my worst experiances have been with husker fans. Ussually 30 years and younger. The classiest fan moniker is BS. BTW - who in the hell wants to have someone pat you on the back smilling saying "maybe next year" when the Huskers left in their first team the entire game and won by 50. Nobody does. Thats why when their team gets you, all that pent up anger comes out. Only when NU has been involved has I ever been afraid that I might not be safe. Nothing like having "Joe Husker" follow you to the pisser with 5 of his redneck friends.

    Every team has its fair share, and ussually the person getting razed is not fully innocent. I know when people mouthed me, I said stuff back. But the only fans I have seen blantenly go after each other for nothing is KU & MU fans. You want to hear some nasty stuff, wear MU gear and walk to your seat from the car at Allen Fieldhouse during a MU/KU BBall game. WOW, sailers go home and wash their mouths out after that one

  11. Found some other fun facts.

    MU has 8 shut out of NU - most of any other team

    Most of the Nu/MU games have been within a hand full of scores. Although there have been some blowouts. Nebraska has won by 30+, 19 times. Mu won by 30+ only 4.

    The highest win against each other is Nebraska with a +62 margin and Mizzou with a +41 margin.

    NU, CU, MU & KU (14 games over for the jayhawks) are the only North teams with an alltime winning record.

    NU & CU are the only ones with a winning altime big 12 record. MU is close, only 4 games under .500. Kansas is the next in line at 99 games under .500.

    anyway, kinda a stat geek ;)

  12. At the conclusion of this season Kansas will officially be NU's rival. Why you ask?

    3 Legit Reasons:

    #1 Oldest Rivalry for NU (yes by only a few games, but still it counts)

    #2 Kansas is the only team to EVER score 76 points on Nebraska (most points EVER given up by the blackshirts)

    #3 And finally, the rivalry is now competetive. After this season, KU will of beat Nebraska 3 of the last 4 seasons.

    The KU VS. NU rivalry is just beginning to get good kids!! :koolaid2:

    Mebbie in Basketball <_<

    I think as far as the North goes it should be Mizzou.

    1. One of Nu oldest rivalry games. 101 games played

    2. Traveling trophy. MU/NU Bell

    3. Missouri has had the most sucsess against NE compared to other North teams. Nebraska owns a 64% win percentage against Mu. And that includes a string of 24 straight victories. Meaning that minus one period where MU was horrible this has been about as even as it can be. The next best to Mizzou's 36% win percentage against NU is Colorado at 29%. Ku is at 21% & K-state and Iowa State each at 17%

    4. The teams have each won home games against the other since 03.

    5. There is some dislike between players and fans.

    6. There is also some respect about the other team as well.

    Ultimatly CU would probably be it because of the hate between the fans. But for the argument of waht makes the most sense, it would be Mizzou
