I don't think everyone will get Covid and I have not seen anyone proposing such a thing. But I have seen plenty of people mentioning herd immunity and acting like that is what we should be striving for. I have seen nothing that indicates herd immunity will work with Covid. I have heard of people already having Covid more than once.

IMO, those hoping for, relying on and proposing herd immunity are the same science denying delusional people who think if we underreport, quit testing and ignore the problem then it will magically get better. I have several names for these folks, the nicest ones being idiots and Trump supporters. And yes, those are mutually exclusive.

And don't PM me again with things that can be discussed in the topic at hand.

Is there no moderation in the Huskerboard anymore or it just turned into another political cesspool?  Sad.

I'm thankful for the tough guys out there, the armchair epidemiologists, that are going to be first in line for the placebo arm of the challenge trials for any potential vaccine.  Thank you for your service.

Why because he is correct?  Per CDC stats, you realize that since the start of February 158 people under the age of 24 have died of Covid?  Over that same period of time 262 people under age 24 have died of the flu?  That's 0.002% of the deaths attribute to Covid.  But I'll gladly take the placebo arm of the challenge trials as Covid isn't going to kill me.  Go enjoy some sunshine has hilltop suggests.

@dspanther05 Not enough, we need more! :koolaid2:

I signed up 4 days ago.  For those that have no idea what this is like me a few days ago.  In reality, if you have a reddit account, it takes about 2 minutes to sign up and takes another 10 seconds a day to select what you are going to do "attack" or "defend".  Looking at the map this morning, we definitely need some help with our Big 10 brethren (Wisc, Ohio State, and Michigan) have formed an unholy alliance against us and trying to wipe the 'skers off the map.  Anyway, if you have 5 minutes today, join up and click once a day with pretty much 0 commitment  and bragging rights on the table.

True. He also had a RB with about 1900 all purpose yards and a stable of receivers. Not trying to claim Martinez is close to that level, just pointing out that W/L as a QB measurement isn't great. I think stats are better, but you have to account for the style of offense and the supporting cast. This offense should produce great stats from the QB position, so that's a fair knock on Martinez last year. But Mahomes also wouldn't have put up his 2015 stat line with our team last year.

I think everyone agrees Martinez did not perform up to expectations last year. We jsu tdisagree on how far below, and how much of it was his fault directly.

That's fair.  Just like pretty much every team, but I feel like especially in this offense, we are going to live and die by our QB play.  If Martinez doesn't make a significant leap this year, we are staring down the barrel of another sub 500 season with the schedule we have.

And Patrick Mahomes was 16-21 in his college career. W/L isn't that indicative of the QBs performance for college IMO - too many other variables. I'm not saying Adrian is great and everyone else is terrible, but people try to zero in on one thing holding this team back and there just isn't one. Our QB play was good enough to win 8 or 9 games last year if other things were better. Our defense was good enough to win 8-9 games last year if other things were better. We have a lot of problems, and QB play hasn't been way above the other issues for me.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 4700 yards, 36TDs and rushed for 500 yards and 10TD his sophmore year. We win 10 games last year with that stat clip.

Again based on what.  Your feeling?  Frost has said everything to the contrary and keep in mind these are all “frosts guys” before you pull that garbage.

Based on my eyeballs watching what transpired last year.  I will bet you any sum of money that unless AM is injured he is the starting quarterback in 2020.  And if he struggles but is healthy, AM will still be the quarterback in 2020.  I'm all for AM having a rebound season and proving me wrong.

I'm confident he can mesh that with understanding the playbook which seems to consistent of negative yardage swing pass and/or screens.  As long as #2 is breathing and not officially injured, there is no QB competition.  Like it or not, that is the reality.

After the last however many years of Nebraska football, I refuse to buy in to S&C hype.  Every year its the same story of the players being bigger, stronger, faster.  And then add in the current staff trashing the last staff's S&C while getting similar (or worse) results on the field.

Can someone make a Bart Simpson writing on the chalkboard meme saying "I will not buy in to S&C hype"?

We haven't heard of any players being in the best shape of their lives yet so the S&C hype train hasn't even left the station yet.

You answered your own question.  The NFL doesn't want to pay for minor leagues when it has an excellent one paying for itself.  That would equal less profit, and this is capitalism is America 101. They would if they had to, but they sure aren't going to volunteer.

I agree by why should universities then be required to subsidize a minor league football league?  Paying players equals less profits and smaller athletic budget.  It also opens the Title 9 Pandora's box.  They are either amateurs or they are not.  If they are not, then the NFL needs to be the ones opening the wallet.

  10. My two cents.  Leave college the way it is.  Make the professional leagues provide a minor league system exactly how baseball does.  If you go to college, you go to college.  But professional leagues make enough money to be able to stand up a proper farm system where kids that don't want to go to college for "free"  have an opportunity to get paid while playing and receive excellent coaching.  Not sure why we are trying to make this so complicated.

  11. I have a very reliable contact that was just outside the top 100 in basketball (3 star guy) and I know his family for a fact received "job" offers and other things to get him to commit. This is for a 3 star player in basketball.  We already know the shoe companies are funneling top players into blue blood basketball programs for money.  If you don't think that is occurring for high level football, you are crazy.

Don't understand your thinking, but to each their own....

    GBR!!!

The whole root for your conference is dumb.  Ohio State winning a national championship does not help Nebraska at all. It just ensures that most recruits we are competing for are going to choose them over Nebraska.

This is great....but I remember Texas had a top 5 recruiting class for like 3 or 4 years. I do believe they avg like 9 wins those years. Good recruits are only as good as the coaches.

Pretty sure we would take a 9 win season here right about now. I was critical of Frost and staff this year but to make a haul like this coming off back to back losing seasons is impressive and atleast something to bring us a bit of optimism going into the off season.
