I'd love to see any actual examples on video of Martinez hesitating as a runner. People have talked about it all year but I've never seen it; I've just seen him not be able to get as quick of a step.

It was brought up by about every announcing crew as the season progressed.

You're right it isn't based on in game play. As I have said it is based on thousands of practice reps just like every other coach at the D1 level

You really think coaches all across America are basing playing time solely on practice reps and not performance in game? That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard and not true.

Would our backups have been better though? That is the question to which the coaches answer is no. I haven't watched a single practice but to suggest Frost is playing favorites just because is asinine. They grade every practice play and the decisions are made accordingly. Do you really think they do it any other way?

Yes I already answered you. Because it isn't based on in game play.

Sorry our coaches make their decisions on actual data and not by the seat of their pants.

Cool bro. Maybe they should reevaluate their data set and how its evaluated because 9-15 is actually bad. And lot of that is on poor QB play. 30 turnovers in 24 games by QB1.

Have you watched all of the practices to know the backup would give us a better chance? As a coach, how do you choose your starters? Is it by evaluating practice reps?

Have you watched all the practices? You seem pretty confident on something you know nothing about either.

Yes to what? If it is to the question I posed at the beginning of the post I would like to see some proof of that. Have you watched every practice rep all of our QBs have taken? Because the staff

At some point what you do in practice doesn't matter if he cant perform in a game. If AM is the best we have then we are screwed.

Do people really think Frost sticks with Martinez because Adrian is his favorite? The coaches grade every practice rep. These decisions are off the back of over a thousand practice reps. If McCaffrey grades out better next year he will be the starter.

    Yes.

A pass JD had coverage on him and there were other options to throw to. I'll maintain it is easier to complete a throw to a wide open guy on a 1 man route.

Well in 1 throw he almost matched AM passing yardage and had more TDs for the game. You are grossingly overestimating AMs ability to throw.

I don’t know how you can say he hasn’t. He can in and crapped all over the previous staff, which everyone loved, and has yet to put up better results. You can say culture and buy in all you want, but this years schedule was a joke and he failed to get to a bowl. Our “star” qb has regressed to the point that people want our back up in, he mismanaged redshirts very poorly this year, his recruiting has taken a steep nosedive where we are now relying on low ranked Juco products who in their own words are saving a spot with us, our special teams is the worst I have ever seen, OLB play and recruiting is abysmal, ILB recruiting and play is abysmal. There has been no progress for this team since Riley left and Frost entered except they have the best Monday practices in the history of college football.

Like it or not Frost is here until he chooses to leave. They didnt extend him 2 years with 5 years left to get rid of him at 5 million a pop. So be prepared for more years of mediocre to poor play in all facets of the game.

The optimist in means thinks he’s protecting Martinez at all costs.  He wanted to get through the season and the QB race is now wide open.  Martinez now has to go through the Spring and likely fall.  Had SF pulled him two games ago (Which May have made sense), Luke loses a red shirt and Martinez May transfer.

Im probably overthinking this, but there has to be some logic to letting Martinez boat anchor the offense.

The offense this year, especially the second half of season was limited by poor QB play.

edit:  Look for AM and Luke to be co-number 1 coming out of Spring.  Or something like “AM is our guy, but Luke is doing great things”.

After watching this season it is apparent this coaching staff isn't playing 4-D chess. It really appears that Frost believes AM is our best option somehow.

  10. TL:DR

Frost is a bad coach. He will get all the time he needs here to be a bad coach until he finally decides to call it quits and do something else with the tens of millions he has earned from coaching bad teams at Nebraska. They aren't close, they are miles away from being close to even competing in the b10 West. It's not getting any better next year.
