  1. 1.Also, Pederson didn't bring in BC to develop players.

    2. He brought in BC to win.  NOW.

    3. That's the Husker way.

    1. Thats obvious.

    2. What, :wtf I thought that he was here to improve recruiting, because he surely hasnt won anything.

3.Too bad cally doesnt know about, or care about, the Husker way.

Callahan has ben here 1(one) year. Did you think he would have a bcs title with the scrap players that Solich left.No depth, none. I am repeating myself, we are in a new era of college football. As well as a new era of Husker ball , to an extenet. Do the words "be patient" or "give the coach a chance" mean anything to you. HELLO MCFLY. I know for the most part you are just venting YOUR feelings. If three years down the road the s**t hasnt got better, I will be standing beside you saying hes a reject. But after one year it is completely unfair to judge his ability. Constant atacks, never finding anything positive to say about this. Im glad that you are in a minority of people on this issue. Ten more of you would make me want to give up the internet. You speak of the Husker way. I know what your talking about. I think thats the reason that we are all fans. But things change. Hopefully we will be laughing about this in January when we have had a great year , and won our bowl.

  2. I guess you really have to look at Ohio or Rutgers would be the top two choices. You could throw Syracuse into the mix too.

If we think about it. Joe was Syracuse #1 H.S. prospect that Solich lured away. The point about Syracuse might be legit.

  3. This is all great stuff. Thanks Eric. Taylor will torch a few defenses this year.. Remember the last two years there would be somebody open deep, everyone that was watching could see the receiver except our qb. Lord would pull it down and run. Dailey would try a screen pass. The deep ball spraeds the feild. Its a great equalizer.

  4. Its early , Maybe the arrival of Mr. Beck will fuel the competition . Iam confident that we have the right guy. I dont know who will emerge. Seems like we have the talent between the ones we have.

  5. I wish I had my old 85% ethanol truck that I had a few years back. That sun-of-a-gun got way better mileage than any Ive had since, and I could get the cheaper ethanol blend for about 40 cents a gallon cheaper.

I think that ethanol would be a good way to go, help local farmers, and reduce the dependency on foreign oil.

Sometimes solutions are just too easy for the politicians to figure out. That is a good one.

  6. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7190109/

    Awesome. Just awesome.

The biggest problem we have right now IMO is the fac that countries with HUGE amounts of people (China, and soon India) have started to produce affordable cars and people are buying them. I don't think high gas prices are going to get better any time soon. :(

There is oil in Alaska, but the root of the problem is that there is only so much oil. I think we need heavy government backing in alternative fuel vehicles. Right now, there is no HUGE backing of them.

    Thoughts?

You know that little arab guy that speaks for the Saudi royal family? He claims that the problem isnt a lack of oil. He said that the United States hasnt built a new refinery in over 25 years. He claims that we dont have the capacity to refine the demand that we are using. One way or another when you put $20 in the tank and you might get a quarter tank, makes me want to start riding a bike.

  7. There's an article around this board somewhere about Urban Meyer and what he did when he came to a new school. When he gotthe head job at Bowling Green and then Utah, the first couple days he brought all the players into the gym, lock the doors and set out the trash cans and ran the team. HE did it to weed out the slackers. About a dozen or so left each time.

That is exactly what my old HS coach did. You figure out who wants to be there and who doesnt real quick that way.

  8. You should be able to keep up with our team now. Welcome aboard. We had 31 recruits. If we lose some people, Oh well. Thats just my opinion.

I agree. If they do not want to be here, then let them go. We are starting fresh. We don't need any negative vibes floating around the new blood.

Too true. So, the players that left, are they players who were recruited by the last coach that didn't buy into Callahan's scheme- or players recruited by Callahan that had a change of heart? Are these players quitting altogether or will they transfer and play elsewhere?

31 players are quite a bit. It should be more than enough to fill any gaps. I'll need an eyewitness to tell me how we look in the spring game though, before I make any more comments on them. On paper, it seems we're going to be back on top real soon... I hope Callahan can turn it around with those guys. He should have most of the personnel he was looking for to make his plan work, so there should be no excuses this season... on offense.

I hear we lost the 2 top corners from this season, is that true? With a lot of the atttention being on BC and the offense, the defense, which is what wins championships, is what really needs to be overhauled. The level of intimidation the blackshirts usually bring to the table has diminished over the last few years. Has anything been done to remedy that?

We have had several position changes. Some plyers have been moved to D-back. Zach Bowman was very highly sought after recruit from juco. Rivals gave him 5 stars. I think that hes a safety. We also got juco help at linebacker and D line. Without have seen them play, They look big strong and MEAN. I think our d will be as improved as our offense will because of juco help. We lack depth at certain positions. This might make us vonerable to certain teams though IMO.

  9. Like Forrest mom says,"stupid is as stupid does". Name calling is unnessesary. If someone makes a ridiculous comment, we can all see it.Please lets not get into a battle of wits.

  10. Man, Callahan is one intelligent coach, and I'm even more confident that we'll be back on top soon.

    - He has extreme confidence in his coaching, but wants everyone on the staff to let him know how to get better. Great sign of a leader.

    - He understands that he threw a lot at them and realizes that once they start to 'refine' what they've learned we'll be much better. Taking responsibility for his decisions and finding ways to improve, sign of a winner.

    - Realizes we need top notch recruits to make it happen, and that needs to be priority 12 months a year. Great sign of dedication and commitment to get us to the top.

    NU NC 08.

The guy has had ONE (1) year to get it together. Could we please try to give him enough time to ACTUALLY see what he can do with a team that is not in shambles from 3 coaching changes. It takes time. Not forever , but time. We go through and have another crappy season ala 5-6 again, and then I might start to have to agree. Until then lets all remember that to judge a persons intelect and coaching ability after one year, with players that he is unfamiliar with to me is ignorent.Give this guy a fighting chance. Then if he fails FF can form the posse to run him out of town. :thumbs

  11. This guys film is incredible. He's got 5 star talent, I hope we can nab him. The competition between he and Beck would be fierce in 2007. We'll probably only sign one big QB a year from now on. We should get used to having this big time depth and competition at skill positions. It'll be fun to watch.

Also about Chad Roark, so far he hasn't been offered by NU and said his dream is to play for OU. He said Nebraska's his leader but he's leaning towards OU if they offer right now. I think we get him, but it's nowhere near a lock anymore. He's a very good DT, I hope we do pick him up.

I agree with the comment about USC nabbing a top Qb every year. Competition will make the cream rise to the top. As for Roark, you gotta know that stoops has his staff working very hard on him. They lost older bro. I dont think they will stop at anything to get him. When we speak of slow feet with Freeman our we talking about under center to the pocket , or just clumsy when trying to take off? Just wondering.

  12. Lots of people are having isssues living in the PAST. SOLICH will never coach Nebraska again. MOVE ON. If you dont want to talk about the current relavent football team. Go stick your head in a sack. At least everyone will know you there. This is my team. I bleed husker red regardless of the coach. I know Im not the only one that feels this way. :wtf

  13. I don't want to be too critical but I think Cosgrove is another Bohl. We may be better because we improved our team speed on defense, but if the scheme sucks so will the players.

I think youre giving coz too much credit. Even Bohls teams didnt perform this poorly. The only major change from 03 to 04 was the coaches and the schemes.

    Period.

Dont give me any "Yeah, but we lost Demorrio" nonsense. He was just one player, one very good player, but one guy. There were tons of guys coming back in 04 w/ playing experience, and coz lead them to be one of the worst units in the Big 12. Just check out his performance at UW, and see what happened immediately following his departure.

Allthough there is much better talent through JC. I cant beleive im saying this but I have to agree with you FF. You make a very valid point.

  14. Nebraska fans are the best targets, as they provide the most entertainment in the shortest amount of time.

They are, of course, the self-proclaimed “best fans in the nation,” and they have a tendency to repeat this mantra several thousand times daily.

How else are they supposed to make themselves feel better? They have Bill Callahan as their coach, for crying out loud.

A good way to throw the Husker nation into a hissy-fit is to go to one of their message boards, type in a message that says something to the effect of “Nebraska is headed downhill with Callahan as head coach, and K-State will dominate the Huskers from this day forth.”

Tack on a “K-State fans are better than Nebraska fans” for good measure, and sit back and enjoy the show.

This will throw the entire state of Nebraska into an uproar, as their whole lives are centered around Husker football.

A guy who encourages trolling messageboards is also a K-State fan?!?!? Now I've seen everything.

Tell me you can't go to a K-State board, well any teams board for that matter and say the same things about Snyder, their program and get the same reaction. Do I or anyone who isn't a douche do this? No. Because trolling is lame. Which is a perfect fit for a K-state fan. ;) I would encorage Husker fans to take the high road if you were to encounter one of these K-state fans.

Yea, Husker fans are passionate about their football. Thank's Captain Obvious. I guess they simply don't have much to talk about and it's understandable. They had a hell of a recruiting seaon.

I could not have summed that up any better. Ive seen a piture of this dude. Fits your discription perfectly.

  15. If it's the guy who put on his board that was  pure trash then right on. I'm right with  ya.

Nah, that was just spam. That has happened from time to time.

This guy has never posted, but just signed up to email board members about his board. As Blackshirt said, pretty bush league.

Let the guy promote his board. We all know where to go to get the best. Huskerboard. :thumbs

  16. Yeah! Another derailed thread started by you know who. Splitting now.

I don't know about the other moderators, but this will be the last thread of this kind I start. If we have to put up with people interjecting with replies that don't fit the topic and more or less intended to cause a ruckus("trolling" is the word I believe),expect posts to be deleted.

We have a top 5 recruiting class. We have a new found energy because of the new blood in our program. Things will even out somewhat next year. IMO the sky is the limit after that.

  17. No one would be happier to see this NU beat the sh#@ out of Stoops and Co. , but aren't we jumping the gun a bit....

Yes, we will be improved to some extent.... Can't expect young kids, even juco kids to turn this around in one year.

but, last time I checked, OU has a top 5 program ESTABLISHED, and they just added a great recruiting class, that included guys, who WE THOUGHT WOULD BE SAVIORS IN LINCOLN (Smith, Harris, Granger)....... Combine this with their great classes the past 3 years, it is RELOAD time in OU

NU will be improved, OU will not be AS strong, the game in Lincoln will be beter than this year's game, but OU is still class of Big 12 ( :steam ).

    Agreed.

  18. If we can't stop AD we'll have absoltuely no shot. We have to load up the box and leave our DBs in mostly single coverage, hopefully they'll be ready to play some real football.

A couple of things could weigh in on this . The word around here is that Rhett Bromar. ( Hope I spelled that right) will be the starter over Paul Thompson. This dude will be a red shirt freshman. I think we will be able to load the box, and confuse the crap out of this kid. Slow down Peterson enough to win. Isnt there still a buzz around about Petersons shoulder requiring him to take a medical redshirt? this could be a interesting game.
