That's fine, however, I'm not a mind reader- so if you want to inject your subjective "intent" into his statement then say that clearly, because as the statement was written the intent of the statement was "either or" and NOT a "both are true" proposition.

    Parsing this out.....wot?

  2. Many moons ago, in the 70s, TO could not beat OU, and would drop games against teams he should have beat (Mizzou). The running joke was that it took TO four hours to drive from Lincoln to Omaha because he refused to pass. In the OWH Voices from the Grandstand I remember reading a lot of this same stuff, but with fewer attempts to be cute. The same type of Illuminati are peeing all over this board. And the sad thing is I also have issues with some of what is going on, but the goofiness going on here is too distracting to into those issues in detail. The more things change the more they stay the same.

    I'm flattered, I think.

Is cherry picking the same as not including the intent of an over-all statement

Well you've been doing it. Red is reacting to the overall tenor of teach's posts but you can't seem to grasp that.

Yea cuz if your not on board with se and riley there is no way you are a true husker fan. Your irrational, do not have a clue and hope the huskers fail so you can be happy. :sarcasm

Or one can live in a land of obsession with all things Riley or SE.

I would argue 3 of Lee's interceptions were flukes/not all his fault, one bounced off Morgans facemask, one bounced off of our tight ends hands, and another he got hit right as he was releasing it.

    Yep.

Must be said, however, that he also made some bad throws and bad decisions.  I'd give him a couple more games to see if he settles down.

What % did they have to do with it?

What % did they have to do with the first half?

You absolutely have a point. Diaco needs to make adjustments sooner. I assume and hope he can. The D has given up way too many points over two games and that has to change. What bothers me, and this isn't directed at you, is that group of posters who cannot walk away from any chance to criticize the staff. Some of that is justified but not the knee-jerk stuff I see here. /rant

    The vagaries of the game.....

If anyone wants to claim that the score could have been worse, then they need to also admit that defensive adjustments made at halftime also worked. Oregon got 3 to 7 points for home field advantage. Let's remember that NU was in this game til the end. Sorry, but if you're gonna say that I've my head in the sand, I'll counter with you take absolute delight when NU struggles JUST to advance your agenda. Not the definition of a fan in my book.

Well, I will say right now that I'm a Husker fan through and through and I'm rooting for Riley to go undefeated this season, win the B1G and play for a national championship. I promise now, that if ANY of that happens (or even if he gets close to any of that), I will humbly admit that I misjudged him. But sitting here 2 seasons and a game into his tenure, he has done nothing to change my opinion of him when he was first hired.

Thanks for the reasoned response. I'm willing to give him two more years with his recruits. If we're still having this discussion then, I'm with ya.

One game in and all of the naysayers come on and I told you so in several threads. Very tiring!

Should this team do well this season, the goombas who are over-reacting now will saying something to the effect of "Well, I'm glad things turned out well....Husker fan through and through" while conveniently omitting how they pissed in every thread they could find. There's a difference between mature criticism of a game/staff versus a compulsion to puke in every thread.

Guess I saw things differently. Late in the game Carlos Davis was fighting so hard he had to be tackled. Gifford was running hard til the whistle. OTOH, playing confused, like some of the DBs seemed to do, stresses you out like crazy. Instead of the game slowing down it speeds up. I did see some of that.

The Oline was pushing hard on run support til the end. Kinda of a mixed bag but on balance I didn't think the kids looked too bad at the end.

Charlie McBride stunk up Memorial stadium early in his career on occasion. I understand that. What needs to happen right now is for Riley and Diaco to come out with a no-holds-barred critique of what happened, and how it's going to be fixed. That won't satisfy some of the Nostradami on the board but it's the mature--and public relations--thing to do. Diaco running away from discussion not acceptable.

In all honesty now with no spin or bulls$$t do we look like a team that is heading out of the quagmire of mediocrity we have become. A team that has a china mans chance in hell of contending for the league title any time soon.

Now take the blinders off and be HONEST!!!!!!!

You ask for honesty and no blinders, yet you make broad definitive declarations after one game? Okay. If you had said this last night I would have written off to too much booze. You have no excuse this afternoon.
