the hockey program was profitable...until they moved from the civic to the much more expensive qwest center...now basketball is moving to the civic...someones getting too big for their britches. i hope this works out for UNO, but it seems like a lot of grandiose crap to this hombre. Trev talked about how exciting another division 1 basketball program in Omaha will be, playing nebraska and creighton, blah blah blah...have fun getting 1500 people at the rest of your games.

id say hes coming along at a perfect pace and more than capable of being relied upon as the feature back. the guy is the most natural leader on the team.

and i think its kind of short sighted saying he is our only offensive threat. its like taylor martinez doesnt exist to some of you. put aside the qb argument, you dont just shove his talent back on the shelf because of the way a true freshman year ended for him.

i like the giving Barney a chance under Beck angle, in a way. Ive talked my thoughts about Watson and his suffocation of the offensive capability in general over and over. Barney always seemed to me like a guy that wanted to hit people in the mouth, and Im not so sure, other than the Washington game at the beginning of the year where its on record that the line said let us do this damn thing on that one drive, he ever really got the chance. Watson's on the fly changes with no real stick 'em point never let the line shine. To busy getting fancy for his 'clever' offensive packages. There is no doubt we have the bodies and the talent there. Let them plow.

So lemme see if I got this right. You intentionally and knowingly sell merchandise given to you by your university, after having gone through three years of compliance conferences/education, and you get suspended for 33% of your season. But you still get to play in your team's bowl game.

 

However, if you talk to a guy about the MLB draft - just talk to a guy - who then talks to an MLB team, that warrants missing 60% of your team's season, possibly costing them a post-season berth. No money changes hands, no favors were given, nothing of the kind happened. They just talked - and that's without the kid ever going through an NCAA-sanctioned compliance class.

its not, really, i guess. at least in my book. but I can see how it can be taken either way. Its very diplomatic, much like his 16-0 quote for next year-he never guaranteed it, but laid it out as that there is no reason they cant win every matchup on their schedule.

While he is calling out something the rest of the league already knows as far as the bears o-line(and Cutler is probably happy he is)...he is still saying that the 'old guys' on their line suck and that they dont prevent much of a challenge. Really isnt much getting around that.

i think its an enormous change. you can kill a fire with too many logs, especially a big hunk of wood that should be able to really light things up. whether or not its all watsons fault, the whole situation with him had negativity written all over it, and it was never going to get better. the tidbits coming out that he wanted to leave says a lot about watson himself, which is respectable, and about his fit in general.

am I saying beck is the savior? not at all- but I cant help but believe there is more air flowing to the flames amongst the staff now.
