  1. You guys mention the skill players for PSU, but heading into the 2005 season, that was the biggest question mark and concern. PSU started 4 freshmen WRs. (4 WR sets at PSU are in and of itself remarkable, let alone Paterno playing freshmen, let alone starting them). They turned out fantastic. 2 were big time recruits, two were hardly recruited by any D1 schools. Do you guys have any youngsters who you are looking forward to seeing the field? Any lesser guys who you think may step up? (practice reports, pressers giving indications?)
  2. I began browsing here and occassionally posting two years ago when both PSU and Nebraska were having subpar seasons. Misery loves company I guess. There are a lot of similarities between these two programs. History, tradition, fanbases, ect ect. Last spring, a lot of PSU fans had a feeling about 2005 being a very good year. New offensive philosophy/coach, 2 years of talented recruits about to see meaningful playing time, a solid defense and upper classmen who were tired of losing and intent of turning things around with their leadership. The 2004 season ended with 2 consecutive wins and we felt a corner had been turned. Im just wondering if any Huskers have a feeling after a good win in a bowl game last year that NU has turned a corner and is on the verge of making an impact in the Big12 and nationally. Of course, there will always be those fans that predict a 12-0 season. But for those of you that dont necessarily view everything with red glasses (formerfan), what are your thoughts for the Huskers this year? Is there an anticipation for 2006 that might not have been there for a few seasons? Anyway, good luck at the spring game...hope the weather is nice. any of you PA huskers cant make it to lincoln, stop up to Happy Valley on the 22nd. Stop on by for a beer at my tailgate. DJ starts playing at 10am.
  3. (munch munch munch) MMMMM. my foot tastes good. send me a message with your address, husker rob. too bad for you Roy....if you had a little confidence in your team, you would have just made a cool 50 bucks. congrats Rob.
  4. careful Roy, dont trip backpedaling that fast. If you had no interest...why even introduce the bet? It was you who offered the bet in the first place, remember? Dont embarass yourself any further. The rest of your post made absolutely no sense. Unless you meant that you were the one who has no confidence in their team. Then it makes perfect sense. The 'real' point of the wager.....if that helps you sleep at night. Btw...I despise michigan.
  5. OK. Thanks. Good luck. Ill probably miss the first half on my way home from work. Anxious to see the score when I arrive.
  6. Deal. Roy tucked tail and ran away and hid. He should be ashamed of himself. Or herself, whichever it is. Husker Rob you have yourself a bet. Mich over Nebraska 10.5 spread. USD 50.00. Winner provides address for cashiers check or money order to be delievered by loser. (virtual handshake) Thanks for stepping up and saving face for big boy roy.
  7. where? Not in this thread. I suspect he will continue to hide until after kickoff. big talker until a realistic wager is made.
  8. what do you know...Roy disappeared. No surprise.
  9. Peicemeal? I didnt make you sound like anything. I quoted two specific points you outlined: 1. Minn and Wisc. have 'decent' running attacks. 2. Neb needs to establish the run. and then provided instances of how that is optimistic. 1. Minn and Wisc. have better than 'decent' running attacks. Minn is second in the country. 2. Neb. run games is close to last in the country. I then wished you luck. Ill wish you luck again.
  10. i see youre backing off. if you were really serious, you would have taken a gentlemans wager of $50.00. You try to come over the top and bluff your way out of the bet by suggesting a ridiculous amount. (especially for a message board. lets be realistic.) so ante up big talker...take the 50 dollar bet on 10.5 spread. or should I try to out wager you? Lets go a million! 50 bucks, take it or leave it....but if you leave it, youre all bark and no bite. Or all type and no bite. Either way, its sad.
  11. are you accepting or backing off?
  12. absolutely. USD 50.00 ok with you?
  13. Very comparable. I think it will be important that Nebraska establishs a running game (something they haven't been able to do all year). Both Minnesota and Wisconsin have decent running attacks. I don't think Nebraska can rely too heavily on the pass. Just a hunch. GO BIG RED Gotta admire the optimism. Minn and Wisc have decent rushing attacks. hmmm. well, Minnesota is the second best rushing team in the nation this year. I guess thats decent. Wisc. is 42nd. whats Neb? 110th. Against far less opponents. good luck. rushing stats
