  1. You can't fire a guy and then offer him a job in your AthDept. The ONLY way it'd work for a coach to make that move is if he did it on his own. Doc is not giving up his position, when he's fired he's gone.

Thank you would anyone want to keep working for their employer if they got fired?

  2. I'm going to bring a name up Josiah Moore he comes in very late when were down big but every time that he shoots the

ball he makes it. Why isn't this kid playing more? David Rivers and Corey Hillard get more action but there less productive.

Know who your shooters are and make plays for them............

There's more to the game than shooting.

I know but not with this team. When you have 15 points at halftime you need scoring. Period

  3. Sadly I think TO is gonna leave this decision up to his successor! I think doc will get another year. I think we will be better next year also(20wins). I don't think TO wants to tie his successors hands with a new BB hire. These guys like to bring in their own guy which makes sense since their job depends on the coaches success. Also I feel like this can be a way for TO to get out of this situation without personally taking a hit. Hire a successor now to replace him within 2 years. Let the next guy fire doc. And TO can use stability in recruiting and recruiting to new facilities to hold off the haters!

    20 wins?

  4. "Get over it?" Come on. There's a rather large difference between getting fired within a couple of years of an extension and getting fired within a calendar year of an extension - or, should be getting fired, but won't be because the long-term plan means you get one more year.

There's no two ways around this. The extension was a bad idea. It was unnecessary by any stretch of the imagination.

I agree totally We better get Warren on the phone to cover this up

  5. It has been a long time since I have cared any less about the NU basketball team.

I would hope you're specifically referring to the Men's team, and not the Women's team, as the later has given us much to root for lately.

couldn't care any less about the women. if they make it to the final four i might watch, other than that, doesn't matter to me. i'm glad they're winning and representing NU well but.... yeah don't even care enough to finish that thought.

Wow Then change your name to mens bball backer

  6. Wow....... today's Omaha Paper has an article written by Lee Barfnecht (don't always agree with, but typically fairly accurate in predictions/projections) almost has Doc cleaning out his office.. The article is basically saying that Doc is gone. I know that this is just a journalist selling papers, but even made a statement to the effect:.... that Doc deserves a graceful, respected FINAL MONTH.

    ** who knows ?

    Please, Please, Please, Please, Please

  7. I seriously doubt that TO will pull the rug out from under Doc with games left to play. He left BC as coach until the end. I think Tom has a better relationship with Doc that he had with Callahan.

I agree that T.O. would not publically fire him during the season................but the negativity surrounding the program HAS to convince him to be burning up the phone lines NOW so that we aren't competing with everyone else for new blood at the end of this dismal season.

Just speculation on my part, but I suspect when he didn't return for the second half that he was in his office making preliminary calls already. Probably not to candidates, but to other ADs or people he trusts for any advice they may have on prospects.

I really don't want to say this, but I hope your right. I wish we could win out and still fire Doc. Does that make any sense.

  8. Today on 1620 Jay Bilas said you don't fire Doc unless he fails to match the number of banners hanging in the gym before he got there....

OK. Well, Doc hasn't done that. So we can fire him.

Yep before Doc. A Big 8 championship Tourney and a NIT Championship

oh and we made the big dance before Doc as well

  9. Danny Nee says hello

    Career Win % @ Nebraska

    Nee - .572

    Sadler - .557

Nee coached for 14 years and 444 games (254 wins). If Sadler coached as many games (at current win %) he'd win 247. That's seven fewer games won over 14 years. Not a lot different. Yes, Nee had a couple good teams but not outstanding (still no NCAA tourney wins). I'd call that "hard to win at Nebraska."

At least Nee got to the dance 5 times. And was a #3 seed one year. Your right no wins, but he was there.

  10. I just don't understand how anyone can defend Doc anymore, unless maybe their last name is Sadler as well. I think Doc is a good guy and has a likeable personality, but there is no reason any good coach couldn't have taken this team to the dance by now and be competitive in the top half of the conference in the time Doc has been here. There are plenty of good coaches that made programs successful that don't have the near the facilities we did have and the upgrades we are getting now. I never believed in that excuse that you couldn't win here because of what we had. What we will have with the arena, practice facility and joining the BIG isn't a reason for making the dance every once in a while but a reason to be a perennial top 25 program.......if we had a good coach. I'll admit that the fact that we are a football school that the basketball program gets overlooked, even from the very top, but it still isn't enough of an excuse not to have upper half conference success every once in a while. No more excuses people. It's time we all face the reality that Doc isn't ever going to get it done.

A couple years ago, Doc came really close to leading us to the NCAA tourney. It might have been last year also. We were on the bubble down the stretch and just couldn't win the games that we needed to win. In the last couple years, Doc has been pressured a lot to improve on the offensive side of the floor, and if you ask me, our team has lost a lot of defensive intensity as a result.

I have trouble believing that even Coach K could take us to the NCAA tourney with the athletes that we are able to recruit to Nebraska in basketball. It's just such a hard place to recruit, and as a result, is a hard place to win. I like Doc, and I would love to see him be the guy to find the right answers and do what it takes to win a lot of basketball games for us. However, I'm not sure how much more time fans will be willing to give Doc.

    Danny Nee says hello

Unfortunately, his onryness caught up with him, and his first really REALLY bad year, became the excuse, not the reason. Nee was about as successful as you could expect a coach here to be.

Yes I remember alot of the team wanted to walk out on him. And it was a bad year. But the five before that

were great years to be a husker basketball fan. Hell I'll go really old school on you guys. Joe Cip. and Moe Iba

did pretty good jobs as well. Moe led thenm to a NCAA berth. That was in the 80's.

  12. I just wanted to add, I agree with some of the stuff that was written but not all of it. i'm a Bo

supporter but some things can be changed. My wife ( the better half) has said going into

this last year that Bo is a great deff. coach but is not a leader of a football team. Just our

    2 cents.

  13. I haven't seen so many air balls in one game since our son played back when he was in first grade

someone tell Dave Hoppen to call TO and get rid of Doc at the end of the season. Doc wants to get

it inside when we have no inside game is just freaking stupid.
