  1. why we still have Thorell as the dime option is a sick waste of "back-up" talent- PJ Smith, Osborne or even Evans couldn't play dime?

The love for Cassidy should be the only gift to under-performers (at least they corrected the Fisher mistake)- good thing USC isn't a very good passing team

    Thank you

  2. Six years later I am still waiting for that "get the ball and go" offense that Doc said he loves to run during his hiring presser. Full court. Fast and Furious.

Obviously he must have been talking about fans heading for the parking lot early with the last part.

Good point, I remember him saying something like were going to play 90 feet of basketball

(I din't know he was talking about at a turtles pace)

  3. I don't think he has forgot. His team will be ready.

    Nebraska vs Florida, 1996

    steve-Spurrier_display_image_display_image.jpg?1322533979

Final Score: Nebraska 62 Florida 24

    Fiesta Bowl, 1996.

This was supposed to be a close game between the No. 1 team in the nation (Nebraska) and the No. 2 team (Florida).

I thought Nebraska went into the game as #2, which is kind of why they had a chip on their shoulder.

Nebraska was ranked #1 but Florida was favored in the game.

  4. What is that husker doing here and why is he with a Buckeye fan.

    The evil empires unite.

I actually had tickets to the game also and was planning on taking my grandfather (by marriage). He's a huge Kansas fan and is nearing the end of his days so I wanted to do something special for him.

Unfortunately a trip to the hospital scuttled the plan. He passed out in the yard while walking the dog the night before. Luckily he's doing fine but it was a scare.

    Glad he is OK

On a side note, Charlie Wise spoke at halftime and the crowd was chanting his name. I turned to our GM

and said to bad they can't get 16,000 people at a football game. I said it just loud enough so the people

right around us could hear. No one commented.

  5. So our GM at our facility is a Ohio St fan. He scored 2 tickets for the game over the

weekend and asked if i wanted to go. I did wearing a husker shirt. Should of saw the looks

I/we got. So these 2 guys during the game made a comment. What is that husker doing here

and why is he with a Buckeye fan. I proudly turned around and said I'm going to say something

that I would have never said about the big 12. GO BIG 10! It was awesome.

  6. Recorded last night's game against Creighton and watched it this morning. Seems we got screwed out of one point during the contest. At the 10:15 mark of the second half it was 47-39 Nebraska. The ball was passed to Jordan Hooper (I believe). She was in the paint and shot and made a two pointer. It took 10 seconds before the scorekeeper changed the score and then it changed by only one point. After that I watched very intently and the score was never corrected. It's possible an error was made prior to that point and I didn't notice (I wasn't watching very closely), but I think they missed one there. Glad it didn't come down to needing that one point. I checked the stats on the Husker web site and can't prove anything by it as it all adds up, but I still think they missed one. The women played a very hard fought game last night and won it. Congratulations ladies.

    Creighton tried to cheat again?

  7. Wow. Lucky win against Florida Gulf Coast.

And people wonder why there isn't more support for this team. I wonder - do people wear a suit and tie to go to the drive-thru at McDonald's?

About as bad as the football team loosing to Northwestern

    :hmmph

Or the volleyball team losing to Northwestern.

    Yuuuuuuuup

  8. There will be more Husker fans in that Stadium. Clemson fans thought the same thing 3 years ago in Jacksonville. Husker fans travel well regardless of the location. This is a better bowl in a better destination that's easier to fly into. Hell, NU has nearly sold their alottment already. Bank on 30,000 Husker fans.

    Beat the Chanticleers.

Yep we were at the Gator Bowl and the stadium was pretty much split half and half

I will say the Clemson fans were very nice

  9. Creighton led 46-45 when official Kelly Self called Christopher Niemann for fouling Grant Gibbs on a shot. Self then whistled Nebraska's Toney McCray for a technical foul. "I didn't think I really said anything," McCray said, "but the ref was talking about how he didn't like my hands going up, or whatever."

Self never offered an explanation to Sadler, who instead asked official Mike Sanzere why McCray received a technical. Sanzere consulted Self, and relayed to Sadler that Self didn't like a gesture McCray had made. "You're going to call a TECHNICAL for a GESTURE in a one-point game?" was Sadler's immediate response. "Was it a dirty gesture?"

No response was given. But meantime, officials were visiting with Creighton coach Greg McDermott and visiting a replay monitor, for reasons of which Sadler wasn't certain. So Sadler asked and received permission from Sanzere to go to that end of the court. There, he leaned up against the scorer's table with McDermott, who put his arm around Sadler.

Sadler, with a big grin, made a comment to McDermott about the great basketball game. Self then intervened and slapped Sadler with a technical.

    LINK

Rosenthal did a pretty good job of explaining what happened with the two technicals. Translation: We got screwed by the refs.

    :cry

Or maybe CU is just a better basketball team and probably would have won the game if this happened or not...

Dude this is a HUSKER message board and you are getting butthurt over Nebraska fans being biased for their team, if you want to talk Creighton basketball, go find a Creighton forum. If this were any other team and no one knew that you were a Husker football fan, you would be constituted as a troll. We understand your a creighton fan and you think they are all world at every sport that Creighton participates in.

And cool your brother was a good baseball player. Good for him, and your family. But don't tell people to google your last name like you are god of all and that he got screwed by UNL blah blah blah. You are looking for pity on a message board.

Pretty much sums it up. Great post

  10. Seriously though has every first tier program* now changed coaches recently? By recent I'll go since 2008, of course.

I dunno if 3 years for everyone changing is abnormal. It seemed at one point we had an era of Paterno, Bowden, Brown, Tressel, and Carrol was just never going to end.

*And while I was typing it I thought of Stoops and Richt as exceptions.

** And recalled that Saban has been at Bama 5 years. and LSU now counts a 1st tier

    :facepalm:nothing to see here

UMMM your on husker board and didn't even bring up Dr. Tom

    Come on man

  11. Iowa used all their tickets that were giving to them 4000. Most teams that come to Lincoln don't use all of their tickets so it looked worse than normal. There were Iowa fans scattered through out the stadium but not another 6000 to 11000 of them. Most of them were out tailgating and didn't even go into the game. I would say inside there were 5000 to 6500. JMO

  12. Any chance he could move to safety with his height and size. Really seems to tall and lanky for a LB. To hard to get "under" blocks or under a RB's pad. Perhaps better in the open field?

Like Husker Richard stated above, prior to the broken leg, I do not even remember hearing his name. Granted that was in the Big XII where we only played one LB and he was not it, but even this season, a year from the injury he has not looked that promising. With Compton coming on, Whaley, Santos etc...., unsure if he will see the field again as a LB. Really know nothing about his speed/open field tackles so that is why I asked about safety or even Peso.

    What???????

  13. Is anyone else having a hard time understanding why we can't come up with a consistent group of starters? One day 16 is in on d the next week he's out. 10 is in on o next week he's out. 8 returns punts..nope your out lets try 80. When you look at our inconsistent play you can look at how inconsistent the coaches are with the lineup...how do you practice well if you never have a core group of guys to practice with and work on skills? This "every week is a different week" mentality with the lineup is killing us!

You just nailed it. And Rex needs to be given more breaks in the first half so he is not worn out in the 4th quarter. And you cant tell me that we have no one better than

    THORELL

  14. you cant go up 29 past rockport due to flooding or that would be the way to go. keep in mind the airport in kc is north of I70 a little ways. I would go to St joe and head west on 36 to highway 75 north (sabetha ks) take 75 to Nebraska city and then take highway 2 to Lincoln

    ^ This

I live in Springfield, MO and drive up to every home game (as well as various family events in Lincoln). It saves me about an hour going this way instead of taking 70 to 77.

Also, the best BBQ in the KC area is in this town on the outskirts of the city called Excelsior Springs. The restaurant is called Wabash BBQ. It's possibly the best I've ever had.

We live by Liberty and Wabash is damn good. And yes that is the direction to take.
