Ok....I saw somewhere that we are supposed to hold onto our tickets from this weekend Incase of a reschedule.

thats  going to piss a lot of people off. My wife threw hers away.

agree, how do you plan ahead for a make up game?  kind of unfair if you can't come for the make up game.......they should have offered refunds, makes us look like tight asses!

I mean if you want to believe every single thing someone says, feel free but from what we've heard it sounds like he made some unforgivable errors in practice like throwing picks, fumbling, etc. Perhaps everything was coach speak because maybe they had an inkling that Gebbia would do what he did but refused to believe that and instead went with "he's a good kid/teammate."

I'm paraphrasing of course. I think the lack of an OR on the depth chart for QB really set him off but who does that for the most jmportant position on a football team? Obviously Frost and Verduzco felt that Gebbia's arm wasn't good enough. He would have separated from Martinez. If you've got a QB with a laser accurate arm with OK scrambling ability, you'd be insane not to play him.

Martinez is our guy, Gebbia left, it's easy to read the tea leaves. His arm and body size, and decision making were his major weaknesses. Now it's time to accept that and move on.

    please let this thread die...............

  3. you guys missed the point.........i am not worried about his throwing the ball, but i am worried when he runs an option, one good hit and he could be out for awhile....glad ya'll have faith in Bunch, our walk on QB and only back up...hope it all works out....T-Magic was the s#!t until the one shoe string tackle that jacked up the rest of his season....i still remember that hit.

Freaking awesome. Frost recognizes a management mistake on his part and openly admits it, anyone want to lay odds on it ever happening again?  :D

Not everyone has the intestinal fortitude to admit making a mistake, let alone admitting it publicly. Major props to Frost.

would have likely ended up this way in the end?  .........after 4 games?  who knows??

Pretty hard to make the league if you don't start. On the other hand, there aren't many Baker Mayfield's, either. Guys that transfer into major college programs, start, and then get drafted are very rare it appears, too. With so many talented transfers that seems low. Maybe given enough time we see that trend change. Right now, most of the transfers that make it to the NFL are from lower tier schools, consequently getting drafted lower and having a harder time making a team. When a QB decides to transfer like this, it can be a tough road.

it will be interesting to follow Gebbia and see where he ends up.......i bet he ends up being successful.

He's transferring for himself. You can't at the same time care more about the team and transfer because it's best for yourself. Not everyone thinks it's a negative. Many people have stated he's doing what's best for him and have no problem with that and would do the same thing.

+1.     i want to hear about Bunch and how he is progressing.

I'm just disappointed in our fanbase.  Instead of wishing the kid the best (he worked his ass off while he was here) we are calling him, "soft, weak, not a team player, bad attitude" etc.  We are so selfish and only care about our "Nebraska football" that we don't care he's doing what's best for him and what's best to further his career to the next level.  We would all go elsewhere for a job if that included better opportunities.  We need to look in the mirror, we're no better than the ksu, cu, mizzou, Texas fans that we despise.  Gebbia put the work in while he was here, let's wish him the best instead of being salty about it.

    Amen.

You have two players that are, from everything we've heard, effectively tied when it comes to who should be starter. If I was making this decision, I would have the redshirt freshman start, make sure I get meaningful snaps for the true freshman in 4 games. If Gebbia has an injury, or Martinez shows he's the better QB you can change things down the line. This keeps both QBs on the team and possibly keeps an extra year of eligibility for Martinez.

Instead, we have a situation in which Gebbia is most likely going to leave the team and if the worst happens and Martinez gets hurt we'll have a walk-on starting.

I get WHY Frost did it, but I believe it was a mistake.

this could sure cause some 2nd guessing by this coaching staff.........we will never know. but i believe Frost was truly caught off guard.

I don’t think the up- tempo offense is as shocking as when Oregon originated it.

There are teams in every conference that go up tempo , so it’s more common now to have to prepare for it, be conditioned to defend it and ready with the personnel substitutions.

    Not a big deal.

Well this development stinks. I figured he might be gone at the end of the year if he didn't see much playing time but didn't see this coming now. This seems to be the norm in college football anymore and with him being recruited to play in a pro style offense it's probably in his best interest to go somewhere the runs a drop back passing attack. Still leaves us in bind with one scholly QB on the roster. Hope AM shines and is able to stay healthy all year. I guessing Frost is going to be very aware of this and adjust the game plansto not place any unnecessary risk on AM. You can't call the game scared but you have to be aware there are only walk-on's behind him. I wonder who would be 4th string? I think Cam Taylor played QB in HS although that would be ton to put on a freshman who is now your 2nd string CB.

I think this development compromises Frosts offense.

Selfishly, I'm bummed because having 2 highly talented QBs on the same roster is a rare luxury we no longer have.

Looking at it from Gebbia's point of view, though, it seems like the only option unless he wants to throw away a year of eligibility.  So I don't really see it as immature or impulsive at all.  Maybe the exact opposite of immature and impulsive.

As a fan, it sucks.  For him it makes sense, if you are him.

  12. Frost's comments are interesting......."some of the decisions i agreed with, some i didn't"........i wonder how they reached this decision...show of hands?

Mario?? .........Frost having 2nd thoughts.......if he starts Gebbia and sits Martinez, does AM walk?     I doubt it.......
