  1. So if the big east collapses there's a good chance the b10 adds nd and then mizzou to balance the b10.

Question is there is so much uncertainty about everything, so I ask Husker fans

    Does Missouri get left behind?

If they do maybe we can get some of their recruits haha

  2. I'm just saying we aren't going to be playing any of your national championship teams from the 90's, or any of Tom Osborns teams for that matter. If anyone honsetly any of that matters now you are kidding yourself. Both Iowa and Nebby have had solid teams the last 10 years or so, teams that have very similar records. We share a border, we do have a little tradition ourselves. It's going to be one hell of a rivalry, and a lot of fun.

I personally think the last 10 years (which is really all the masses will remember) we have been the better program, but I'd expect a good portion of you would disagree with me. If you come into the B10 expecting a cake walk you are going to be sorely dissapointed. But enough of that, lets get back to this rivalry game thing.

Oh okay so the last 10 years matters, just not the last 13? The masses remember the past decade but "if any of that matters" from 97 now "we're kidding ourselves." What a joke. And I also don't recall Iowa winning a Heisman or playing for a championship this decade.

Your national title game was 13 years ago. Your incomming freshman were 5 years old when that game was played. They don't remember one damn snap. The joke is that Nebby will come in with thier 4 national titles and 4th winningest team in college football history and dominate because they have 4 national titles and are the 4th winningest team in college football. Ask scUM what tradition alone gets you in the B10 (I'll give you a hint, it's 1 and 7 in the conference).

Congratulations on your storied past. That along with your academic standing and your other athletic prowess helped you get the invite. But now that you are here get in line. Your history in college football means something between Jack and sh#t and Jack left town. That being said were damn happy to have you.

PS I really don't think you want to get in the argument of who matters more in the last decade. No titles and no Heisman's but in the last 10 years we have finished in the top 10 four times, had an AP player of the year, a Doak Walker award winner, a Mackey award winner, an Outland Trophy winner, one Heisman runner up, and one 6th place finish.

Ignorant to the past perhaps because yours is unmatching?

Look u can't force a rivalry... especially if its unbalanced, and that's in every category.

Please tell me y u think one of the most prestigious programs in the nation with 5 ncs and 3 Heismans should settle for a program with no titles, on Heisman for the 30s er something, and who have relatively had no success against us? Do u not remember what happened in our last game, 42-13 right?

U must remember our last main rival was 7 NC, 5 Heisman ou right?

Sorry but for Nebraska fans the word rivalry has huge implacations.

Here is my first: Nebraska - Iowa - (FARMAGEDDON)

Here is a list of current Big 10 examples from Wikipedia:

Illinois-Northwestern (Sweet Sioux Tomahawk/Land of Lincoln Trophy)

    Indiana-Purdue (Old Oaken Bucket)

    Indiana-Michigan State (Old Brass Spittoon)

    Iowa-Minnesota (Floyd of Rosedale)

    Iowa-Wisconsin (Heartland Trophy)

    Minnesota-Wisconsin (Slab of Bacon/Paul Bunyan's Axe)

    Michigan-Michigan State (Paul Bunyan Trophy)

    Michigan-Minnesota (Little Brown Jug)

    Illinois-Ohio State (Illibuck)

    Illinois-Purdue (Purdue Cannon)

    Minnesota-Penn State (Governor's Victory Bell)

Michigan State-Penn State (Land Grant Trophy)

    Ohio State-Penn State (No Trophy)

Michigan-Ohio State (No Trophy, but Ohio State football players receive a gold pants charm if they win the game)

    Penn State-Iowa (No Trophy)

I am a little worried about the bolded part....that is kind of creepy sounding.

Hey kids, want a lollipop. Look at my gold pants charm. Isn't it nice?

What on earth is a gold pants charm? They mean like MC hammer?

  4. So listing to Espn radio and there doing a "is it just me...?" Special and one fan wrote " is it just me or is the loss of the nu v cu "rivalry" the biggest loss for the big 12?"

    Haha I laughed so hard!

The host then went on to say he couldn't even remember a Husker v cu game, but then again he also said that he remembered the Matt Davidson catch of 97 in which he proclaimed was against cu although any college football fan would know that was against Missouri.

    Still I laughed so hard

  5. I doubt OU would want to do anything yearly. By my estimations, most of them don't miss the NU-OU games as much as we miss them. They were our one true rival, but Texas has always been their number one target.

And as far as maintaining those games, I think it is futile. We need to move on and look past the Big 12. Sure, I will be the first to admit that I will miss 100 years of tradition with some of these teams, but scheduling them every year just seems like we are clinging on to a former conference that was never really home to us.

For nostalgic purposes, I'm sure we will meet some teams again. Hell, we might even meet some in bowl games. But, as of February 2011, we need to start worrying about the B10 and only the B10. Nothing else.

Sadly I agree, but we could do it on occasion

  6. I love "Farmageddon." It'll never be a trophy name but it could catch on in the media, especially when both teams are contenders. Get ready for a boring drive to Iowa City. Nothing like the drive to Boulder though, I suppose..

Blitz has it right, sorry but u can't force rivalries, that's what the big 12 did with cu on us and it was an absolute joke.

Maybe ur farmagedon trophy can happen some time, but as of right now we just need our rivalries to form themselves

Nebraska v osu - the big 12 title

And here would b a fun award, nu v Mich - the Bo award, and we could make it into the shape of a bowtie er something.

  8. 16 teams--- Super 16

    14 teams--- The Fearsome 14

    12 teams--- The Tenacious 12

Honestly, Im reaching way out their. It will prob still be called the Big 10, because of tradition. But that didnt stop the Big 12 either.

    Love the tenacious 12!

What about the stronghold 16 or stronghold 16?

  9. OK so this is a bit of a contest. Since the big 10 now has 22 teams we absolutely need to change names. Now we don't no how big our conference will be, but the main thought is it'll get to 16 teams. So who on this board can come up with the most creative name for our new conference?

  10. Does anyone think that if we do get Bubba, that that could jeopardize Turner's commitment?

I really hope not cause I think itd be awesome to get both, but it does seem that we support a school that finds a way to lose a 4* qb every year.

  11. I read somewhere that our emphasis on our secondary entirely changed after this game. That it couldn't be used as a last line of defense anymore and that it played a more active role.

Also (don't hold me to this though ) but I think Charlie McBride moved out of a 5-2 base d into more of what Charlie called a 3-4 (although it didnt really match the 3-4s typical look) like d, but I don't know if it was directly after.

I have a defensive strategies book and once I find it ill reread McBride's article 4 ya, cause I coulda sworn he talked about this game.

  12. Well we don't really have a true rival right now, and it's not like one with Penn St. is just going to pop up because its convenient.

This board was asking who you prefer if we had to have a rival, I merely responded.

I'm not saying it hits the ground running, I'm just saying that psu is really the only team that already has a starting foundation to foster in a top rivalry.

We don't pick it cause its "convenient" we simply continue what was already there. Someone on this board did point out that the biggest happy valley attendance was back in 02 when they played us. We have also already talked about 82 and 94 and of course the the old Osborne v joepa games.

There would already b an excitement for this gam.

All I'm saying is that this is really the only game with true potential as of now o

  13. A

I've said more than once, but I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, you aren't going to build a rivalry with teams that you won't play every year.

    Totally agree.

If Nebraska has a rival, it will be either Iowa (the likely one due to geography) or Wisconsin (the better one).

We can just forget about a geographical rival. Ain't no team good enough for us in our geographical area to consider as our top rival. I don't want another cu rivalry rammed down our throats.

The only team in the big 10 that shares a past history with us, a similar level of prestige, and doesn't not already have an ultimate rival (unlike Mich and osu ) is Penn St.

The only problem is we wont play them every year if the big 10 goes into their predicted divisions, but that is no excuse to settle for a lower tier program.

Were freaking Nebraska!!! Y settle for no champion Iowa, just because we "need" a rival? It's disgusting and absurd for uscto lower our standards to such

If we have learned anything from cu, its that u can't force a rivalry, and then Penn St game is the only case where there was already somewhat of a rivalry to begin with. Don't tell me that no title Iowa, a team that has been repeatedly killed by us (remember our last meeting in 2000 were we won 42-13), is a good rival for us! Its ridiculous! Talk about the bad end of a settlement.

And besides osu, Mich, and psu Iowa is the best program in in the big 10, so if they don't reach our qualifications y on earth r some people shouting for Minnesota and Wisconsin? Get real people, Wisconsin is like our little brother( because of Alvarez) who is a mere child in the presence of a warrior and minnesota? Common!!!

  14. See now this would b a rivalry!!!

So much history between our programs, top prestige, awesome fanbases, and both of us have held each other from going to a NC.

Y are we even talking about Iowa, when we clearly already have something here psu?

Idc if well be in different divisions, if we go b10 we need to schedule em every year.

  15. Who the heck voted Cal? Show yourself!

Cal I can understand. Now the person who votes Texas...

That's me, I hate to say it but Texas gets everyone, he's a top premier athlete,he's visited there multiple times, and he's from Texas.

I hope to god im wrong though.

Hopefully Malcolm brown goes UT, if that's the case our chances increase incredibly
