That blindly loyal fan base is starting to get old.

Eric Crouch lives like 45 minutes from the stadium, and has older kids.  According to him, they couldn’t care less about the team.

Thats kinda scary thinking about 15-20 years from now.

I have three in middle school.  My daughter does follow VB, but no FB. My one son has zero interest in anything “Husker”.  And my other son is a Hawkeye fan.

Its probably 50/50 between Iowa and NU fans at my school.  All teams combined, Nebraska might be a third of the kids.

Us fans that remember the blue blood days are getting real sick of our support being taken advantage of by our athletic administrations too. If the commitment isn’t there from our decision makers, why should it be there from us. I for one am not aboard the train that’s ok with settling with finishing in the middle of the big ten every year

Money not being an object isn't the same as wanting to dole it out right? Just because they can doesn't mean they will, or want to.  This team is a cash cow with a blindly loyal following, the urgency to be big spenders may not be there for the powers that be.

And that’s exactly why we’ve slipped into irrelevancy in the last 20 years. Too many key decision makers have the wrong mentality. Bama, Clemson and Ohio state aren’t regretting sparing no expense for their staffs… we can empty the check book for 8-9-figure facilities every 5-10 years, but we aren’t willing to for our coaching staffs - which is probably the most important expense in the program.

Here's a reality check.  What if Trev has "asked" other guys to be HC and we are left with the alleged list of Monken, Rhule, MJ or Patterson.  Maybe all of the others on the list gave a no or not interested......We will never know, but a lot of names appear to be non factors now.

If that’s the case, we’re skimping on the check.

  4. Yikes… Not a good look behind the curtain of our athletic department. I can’t see why an admin would think its ok to divulge the Manning and Yant stuff to media - even behind a closed door.

We as fans need to step up and hold the school accountable. The administration has been ran by monkey’s for year how can we all say the coaches to be accountable when we can’t hold the administration accountable. Simple solutions stop buying tickets that simple. Save a little money as well

You’re right. At some we’re enabling the behavior. The sellout streak is meaningless if we’re a mid-tier program or less…

  6. If the comments that Stai said we’re not even considering Urban are true - I know everything I need to about this admin’s commitment to winning. How on earth can you not even consider a coach that’s won NCs at two different universities?!

Expect another underwhelming hire and expect more Nebraska fans to find others things to do on their Saturdays.

Either act like a blue blood or concede that status. I can’t imagine half our fan base will be willing to put up with aspirations to plateau as a mid-tier program.

  7. I have viewed Wisconsin as our most important game every year since joining the Big Ten. I care way more about them than Iowa - and so do college football viewers  (look at the ratings). Regardless, true rivalries are built over time - all of this talk is meaningless. Future games and standings will determine who our rival is - right now we don’t have one.

Anyone able to get tickets now. They only have club level seats. For 5 tickets it was $2325. That's more than I want to spend.

You can do it for $1,465 with their pick-3 plan. Then just try to sell off the 5 for the other two games.

  9. Looks like you can avoid the $200 ralphie donation if you buy tickets via CU's 3-Game Mini Plan - I wish I would have done this...

Under this plan, they're charging a fixed $190 per ticket for our game + minimum $40 for all others at Folsum (including USC and Stanford games). Could probably sell off two other games for half the price and save some cash on going to our game. Could still look into season tickets too, but I'm not seeing a lot of details on the website - would think you might be able to snag two endzone seats near the student section for $600 total for the year.
