  1. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Highlight reel is great. He's got great vision and power, but also has speed. He'll be a great fit for big back in our system. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 7. He's a great player but his talent probably won't be utilized to its full effect at Nebraska. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Nah, he'll redshirt. Cally wants him up to 240. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Dan Alexander. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? RS Senior premiering either as just our goal line back or our starting RB.
  2. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Double R has sick juking moves, blazing speed and I'm guessing a knowledge of the tradition since he's a Nebraska boy. I know the coaches want him at WR or CB, but I think we should put him at RB and just see how he does. He has great footwork and could be a gem at RB if we give him the chance. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 7. We need that pipeline for our homestate guys to continue, and we need a gamebreaking punt returner. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? He'll redshirt and put some beef on him while Lucky returns punts. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Darren Sproles 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? A RS Senior leader on the special teams and a CB in the dime package.
  3. 1. ZacK Bowman (will start from day 1) 2. Zac Taylor (will start from day 1) 3. Stevie O. (will start from day 1) 4. Jordan Congdon (will start from day 1) 5. Philip Dillard (might start this year) And Lucky3000, I really don't think anybody will beat out Cory Ross for that starting job.
  4. If Hunter gets qualified (big IF) I think he's the gem of this class. Next year, I think Nunn, LeFlore and Mulkey start. Brooks, Hunter (might RS), Fluellen, Hardy, and Spain will all see time. We are STACKED at WR.
  5. I agree with this Lucky3000 guy. Picou is more of an interior lineman, he isn't a tackle. Doesn't do well against guys quicker than him. He's a guard. Dillard was the most impressive I believe. He was all over the field, near the ball wherever it was. Had a TFL, INT and many tackles. Lucky looked very good. Has sick moves and left everyone looking when he broke into the open field. Keep in mind this is an ALL AMERICAN game. Lucky made everyone else look like they didn't know what speed was. That's crazy. Jackson didn't play much. Roark was getting beat by Slocum early but ended up holding his own and had a great week of practice. Congdon hit every XP but never put one in the end zone. Suh played almost all game at OG. Pretty much we were represented very well at the game.
  6. Simply one that checks off his receivers downfield instead of locking on just one man, which we saw a lot of this year. One that can be comfortable running the offense they are supposed to, can scramble to some extent but has good pocket presence, and that can throw a catchable pass. Can't ask for much more than that. We don't need a human highlight reel, just someone that can get the job done.
  7. Phil Dillard won't be here in the spring, but I agree, he should be an instant impact. It'll be good competition between him and Dontrell for starting MLB.
  8. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Souder's a Nebraska boy, what more needs to be said? He'll be the leader in the locker room that prides himself in the tradition that is Nebraska football. He can hit like a sledgehammer, hardest hitter we have in this recruiting class on film, and has great character and is a good student. Turned down a full ride to Iowa State for a greyshirt at Nebraska if that's any indication. After a year or two in Kennedy's strength program, he's gonna be a terror on the field. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 7. Most people agree Souder is the best player in the state of Nebraska this year. It's important to keep the tradition of Nebraska players on the roster up. While it's kind of strange that we have triple the amount of players from California that we from Nebraska, the players we do have are the best three in the state, and our only three offers (Matthies was never formally offered I don't believe). 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Whenever he comes in he will be a killer special teams player, likely the one who replace Rigoni as the heart of our special teams. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Hard to say. On our team, Rigoni. Hardest hitter with miles of heart. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? I see him starting at SS, either as a Senior or a RS Junior. IMO he'll do much better with a switch back to safety than playing at LB.
  9. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? This guy flies by his opponents. Playing California ball, he just makes everyone else look like they're in pop warner out there. 8 TDs in one game?! This kid also has the determination. He's been getting his grades up a lot lately and, while he was once a long shot to get qualified, now it's almost in the bag. Great strength, beef him up with Kennedy. He's got great knowledge of the tradition. All-in-all, Lucky is the best RB in the nation, period. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 47. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Oh yeah. He won't start, as that's Cory's job, but he'll rack up 500 rushing and 400 receiving easy next year I believe. He could very well take the top backup from B.J. The kid is amazing. He'll also be returning kicks with B.J. or Tierre most likely. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Eric Dickerson and Reggie Bush. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? Playing his second year in the NFL. Former All-American and top 10 on Husker's career rushing list.
  10. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Great leadership. The speed to matter. He can scramble quite well. Has great character, loves the tradition of Nebraska football. Grades are good I'm pretty sure. All-in-all a great kid who fits well with our Nebraska tradition. Hopefully he'll be to the WCO what Frazier was to the option. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 10. We got the number one QB on our board. We turned down Ryan P. and Mark Sanchez who we had great shots with, and Crompton and Christensen who we also had shots with. I think the coaches are confident in his abilities and we should be, too. Watch his new film on Rivals, he's amazing, and he stays cool, is a great leader and has a great huddle presence. Should be perfect for our future. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Nah, he'll redshirt and start as a RS Sophomore. Taylor, Dailey, Adams will all be juniors. One of them will take the throne for the next two years. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? I hate to do this, but Favre. He's a gunslinger with great leadership. Might not be the best fundamental wise or make the conservative decisions, but he'll zing it in there and get you a TD that Mark Sanchez or Ryan Perrilloux wouldn't be able to. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? RS Senior leading us to a national title. After that, a late first round draft pick.
  11. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Pretty much my whole life, but I started watching football a lot in 95, when I was 9 years old, and Nebraska was tearing it up througout college football. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? My grandfather played football in Nebraska and was all-state in high school. He had a partial scholarship to play for the Huskers but instead played for a junior college up there. Basically my grandpa and my dad are huge Husker fans, and I'm probably an even bigger one. 3) Where are you from originally? Born in Winter Park, FL, live in Geneva, FL, attend high school in Oviedo, FL, and gonna be attending college in Orlando, FL. So I'm born and raised in Geneva, FL. I'm a country boy... 4) Where do you live now? Geneva, until this summer when I graduate and move out. 5) Favorite Husker memory? I remember a certain someone (Ray Lewis) claiming that "Nebraska couldn't even beat us with superman at quarterback." Well, 24-17 later, NU was national champs, and the dynasty had been taken to a new level. Sapp and Lewis, meanwhile, cried. 6) Worst Husker memory? Most people would probably say 70-10, but mines the 2002 Texas game. Just knowing that we were only a field goal down against a top 10 team I believe it was, and inside the 10, automatic field goal range, and instead of J.Lo throwing it out of the back he throws a pick in the end zone. I respect Lord, but that was where it hit rock bottom. 7) Number of home games attended? 0. (Hopefully going to the Oklahoma game next year) 8) Number of away games attended? 0. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? Either my 5-time Football champions hat or my childhood teddy bear that says Nebraska on it. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Whenever it's on TV down here I either watch it at home or with my grandpa. My buddies know not to watch a Husker game with me because most of the game I don't feel like talking, and if they lose, I just don't talk at all. 11) Favorite all time player? Tommie Frazier. 12) WCO or Option? Option was exciting and brought us national championships. Let's hope the Midwest Coast Offense will do the same. We know which one is better for recruiting. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Stevie P. Man got some cajones, and it turned out to be a good thing. Without him, what would we have in recruiting? My guess is not even Zach Potter. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Old Herbie. Lil Red is kinda creepy. Old Herbie looks exactly like my grandpa. He's classic. 15) Favorite Husker play? Frost to Matt D. in the Missouri '97 game. Crouch's Mizzou '01 run and his Oklahoma '01 catch rivaled this, but I don't think you could ever beat it. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? We'll leave this to the imagination seeing as I am underaged (hah). 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Blackshirt34 and Lucky3000.
  12. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? He's blindingly fast, probably the fastest we got this year. Has great character but not a good student. He might be one of the most psyched recruits we have to be a Husker. Great leader as was shown in the All-American game when he took leadership on the West squad. If he gets qualified, should be a gamebreaker for the Huskers. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 8. He can play safety, which is something we really need, but he's a great RB, which is something we don't right now. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? If he's an RB, he'll just contribute on special teams and maybe in blowouts. I'd imagine he'd redshirt his first year though. However, if he switches to safety, he could be the first backup or possibly starter for next season at free. This assuming he gets qualified, first. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Michael Bennett, RB for the Minnesota Vikings. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? Starting at safety or potentially starting at running back (assuming Marlon leaves early and who else we get in the upcoming classes). I think his brightest future is at safety.
  13. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Great kid, good instincts. Not blazing fast but fast enough to make a difference, unlike our guys from last year. Incredible footwork for a high school kid. I believe his grades are in good shape and he'll be a lock to get qualified. Wasn't swayed by Pelini who tried to get him to OU. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 10, he's my favorite, and filling in Ruud's shoes won't be the easiest thing to do. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? He can start, but he'll have to fight JUCO Dontrell Moore for the position. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Dillard earn the starting job later in the season, say, by the Oklahoma game, but he looks like he's gonna be a special teams standout his freshman year and work his way into the defense. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Jamie Sharper of the Houston Texans. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? A former three-four year starter and two-time All-American for the Huskers who went top 10 in the NFL Draft. Starting as a rookie in the league.
