  1. I thought I heard something about giving Adi a red shirt for this season so he could be the replacemnt next year.

That wouldn't be a bad idea.

It's not happening this year, and with good reason. Adi's far too valuable on kickoffs to redshirt.

  2. I like Bo's fire...but he needs to grow up a little bit when it comes to interacting with others. He is still too much of a slave to his emotions.

Put yourself in his shoes...some of the media asks ridiculous questions, and to just keep getting asked the same one in a new way 4 times in a row would be annoying.

  3. One of the reasons I do not like pro football(sports)

It is not about team and loyalty, it is all about money. I had hoped he was above the bickering and ploys, but it appears he has learned to play the game.

Riola wants him there, he agreed he would be there. They need all the help they can get and Suh was a major part of fixing the problem, the team mate has every reason in the world to want him there.

In honesty he has fallen a little in my book due to his hold out. We have turned these athletes into something they really should not be, they are playing a game and getting way way way way way over paid for it. Not one single player deserves the money they are making currently. It is getting way over board and has to find a limit soon.

Getting 40 million dollars and has never seen a snap. Truly beyond belief. Reality has left the building.

I wish him luck, and will follow his career but not with the excitement I had thought I would. Will not be buying a jersey, but I have never bought a professional jersey for any player. Take that back, bought a Kobi jersey for the wife.

Glad for the Lions he is in camp.

The players generate so much more revenue for the teams than what they make it's not even funny. That, in a nutshell, is why I'll never fault a player for getting whatever money he can while he can, because the organization won't hesitate to kick a player to the curb the second his level of play begins to decline.

    It's a business, remember that.

  4. The Yankees can't find talent. They only pay players that are past their prime a crap ton of money.

lol, this argument might be valid if it were still 5 years ago.

As of now, they're developing talent (Robinson Cano, Phil Hughes to mention a couple) and signing free agents just entering the peak of their careers (CC, AJ, Teixeira) which is a scary combination for the rest of the league, and it's working out well.

  5. I still think that is debatable though. Some clubs certainly like him has a pitching prospect. It's not as though he doesn't have major league stuff on the mound - it's that he's got such a great bat. It will depend on what the pojected neads of the club is IMO. If I was a team like the Royals, I'd draft him as a pitcher for those middle innings, and then sleep well at night knowing that if he doesn't work out on the mound he certainly will in the outfield. Also might be a great pick up for a team in the National League. Every 5 days they'd have a pitcher in the lineup that can hit .310. That would be very dangerous.

If he could hit .310 at the MLB level he'd certainly be an everyday player.

  6. Interesting. I feel bad for Adi, if he really did want to redshirt this year and try to take on the full time kicking duties next year and the coaches wouldn't allow him to.

I don't think the coaches were ever going to give Adi the option. It isn't what is best for the team, and outside of just the thrill of placekicking in college it is rather irrelevant to Adi. If his preference is to play professionally, they don't really care what you did in college. Kickers are rarely drafted and even the guys that go in the 3rd or 4th round are as likely to get cut week 1 after missing a few as anyone else. Even more than any other position, kicking at the next level is a week to week occupation.

If kicking professionally is his concern, Nebraska will get him an invite into camp. After that, he's on equal footing with every other kicker. That's the blessing and curse of the position at the next level.

If he wants to be the full timer, he's in the same predicament as every other single player position on a team.........he's gotta win the job. Redshirting to avoid competition is very rarely going to work for anyone's benefit. There's just always someone else you have to compete against.

More to the point of this thread, I'm glad to see the position given a priority in the recruiting process. Given the impact of the position on the games that really matter, it's a shame how little respect it is usually given.

Guess I never thought of it like that; well put.

  7. Interesting. I feel bad for Adi, if he really did want to redshirt this year and try to take on the full time kicking duties next year and the coaches wouldn't allow him to.

  8. I went ahead and made a page that I plan to update as well as a twitter account that's linked to the facebook page. To 'like' the facebook page, go here.

To 'follow' on twitter, go here.

I'd like Huskerboard to be involved with this, so if we could somehow set up a thread where all things that could potentially be posted to the page/twitter could be posted by users or something similar, that'd be great if it's okay with the admins. I'd love to link back to huskerboard as well, when possible, if it's okay with the admins. :)

Thanks for the support guys, and be sure to let your friends know!

  9. I don't care what the uniforms look like, as long as Obama isn't in one, holding one, or even looking at one. Everything he touches goes to hell in a hand basket.

Yes, how could he possibly screw up the perfection that he inherited from the previous administration? :sarcasm

  10. This is actually a really good idea, IMO. We could update it with the latest news about recruiting, injuries, game information, etc.

I'd be willing to help organize/run it if there is significant interest and if it's okay with the admins here.

  11. This is a BIG TIME loss. :P

Had to say it, but really, with Tevin Mitchel in it's not as big of a loss as it could have been. It hurts, no doubt, but I think we all saw this one coming.

  12. Wow, what a huge get! He's a guy I wanted from the start, even if only for his awesome name. :P

Heck of a player, can't wait to see him dominate on both fields as a Husker! Welcome Bubba!

What momentum we have going with this class, it's amazing. Let's keep the train rolling!

  13. His situation reminds me of, I hate to say it, Owa in that selling his mom on the school is just as important as selling him on the school. She seems to be very involved in this whole process, which is a good thing IMO.

The parents need to be just as comfortable with the school as the kids are.

  14. We want kids to value their education but winning football games and a national championship should make up quesitons 1-49.

I get what you're saying, but I have a hunch that his mother was the driving force behind the list moreso than he was.

  15. I have seen lots of people, not so much on this board but on HI, that are ripping this kid for asking all these questions. I think its great that he is asking all these questions, college is a huge choice for a "regular" college kid that is just going to be a "regular" student so I can see why he would want to know all this. People on other boards were scoffing at his question about the weather, are they crazy? Lots of students I know say things like "I want to go to a warm weather school" and people relocate for warmer places all the time. I know other posters, again not so much here on this board, have scoffed at the questions about describing the town and things like that, I think thats a fantastic question. How many recruiting visits do you think show off those "normal" things, like shopping malls, walmarts, movie theathers and so on. Those trips focus on the school and the sport and then parties.

I like his list and I know that some of the questions can be answered by google or whatever but I think all the questions are fair.

Agreed, I think it was a great thing for him and his mother to do.
