  1. The kid is a gamer on the field. Maybe some of you should have checked out his record performance last night on NET. This kid doesn't have ideal or size but he does have it. You know that thing that you can't pinpont but know the kid is special. Does this translate into great success as a Husker, who knows? But the smoothness of how this kid operates on the field will be something to build and potentially succeed on.

You know who else wasn't eye popping size and speedwise or had every local D1 team knocking his door down? Danny Woodhead. Not saying Tyson will be playing on Sundays, but too many say this or that about someone they have never seen play and assume things about the kid because of his attributes.

    Valid point.

  2. I don't follow HS football in Nebraska much anymore but I just looked at his stuff on Rivals..

If he's so good why does he have no other D1 offers (usually KSU or Iowa State or someone at least throws an offer to the top walkon prospects)

Also, if he fits the offense so well, does he run faster than Rival's reported 4.7 speed? I don't consider 4.7 speed fast for a spread option QB.

I'm not knocking the kid, his record and those stats are very impressive... but it does seem a little concerning.

McKewon touched on it in his article, but Tyson's height & size kept many schools away. Heck, he didn't even get an offer from Solich or NW MO St.. Dobson may have a big project on his hands, but time will tell.

  3. Is this official? I would not be surprised at all. All those thinking our QB depth was so good this year, should now revisit those thoughts. It is as of now, dangerously thin. I can only think of two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, am I missing anyone?

Best of luck to Cody. I hope he makes the most of his year off, and gets a chance to start elsewhere. It didn't work out here and it's too bad, but things like that happen all the time. Hope he lands in a good system.

Besides a pair of walk on's, you would be correct. Wonder if Jamal Turner gets moved back to QB now.

  4. Per Joe Schad on Twitter:

Nebraska QB Cody Green has requested his release an is exploring transfer options

Lack of experience now is going to be huge at QB. It's going to be up to Taylor to mature and develop this summer.

  5. I think it would be cool to get an extended version of the "Introduce Yourself" thread going, to learn a little more about each other, but on a more "non-Husker" basis. You never know how much you might have in common with someone else, or even when we might be able to help each other out with our various areas of expertise. Networking is a powerful thing. :cheers

I'll get one started, and others please feel free to start some other topics in this forum you think would be interesting to learn about your fellow Huskerboard Nmates. Or if you have suggestions for other questions to add to this list, post em up and I'll add em.

  6. IIRC every team has to be on BTN twice each season. Do you guys have a start time/channel for the Northwestern game yet? That's prime for an 11 a.m. start on BTN.

You are correct that every team has to be on the BTN at least twice and has been mentioned in this thread, one of those telecast's must be a conference game.

Interesting nugget about the TV selection process, twice throughout the season, the BTN can pick their games ahead of ESPN/ESPN 2 (the selection order is normally ABC, ESPN/ESPN2, & BTN). With that said, i'm sure the BTN is loving the posibility of leap froging ESPN/ESPN 2 & have one of Nebraska's marquee matchups with Michigan, Michigan St. or Penn St on BTN. Some people might think of the BTN as a "secondary channel", but it's a major cash cow for the conference and is in over 80 million homes across the country.

Just like the Big 12, TV info for most October & November games (other than for previously announced Oct. night games) are announced on a 6-12 day window, but in late May, you are probably right that Nebraska's game with Northwestern has a BTN telecast written all over it.

I wouldn't have any problem with all of our games being on the BTN. Like you said, the channel is in more than 80 million homes.

Neither would I. I like the BTN's presentation and with Gus Johnson calling two football games and the lead announcer for basketball on the BTN, it's all good.

  7. The biggest downside is that if we lose, i'll be pissed and won't care as much about the rest of the games that day. If we lost a night game, I just go to bed, and am done with it.

Agreed, it makes watching the games the rest of the day more difficult.

  9. Thanks for the replies everyone. Really appreciate the information. Looks like it is an option either way. Now the question is whether to stay with Dish Network or switch to Direct TV. I think I might actually save a little money with Direct TV ($36.99 a month for first 12 months versus $47.99 a month for first 12 months) and would probably get more channels. Question is how much the cancellation fee is for Direct TV (it is $17.95 per month for remaining months with Dish Network).

If you signed a contract to be with Dish Network for a minimum amount of time, most new subscribers have a minimum service time (normally 2 or 3 years), you'll have to pay an early termination fee to get out of your Dish Network subscription. Just pony up the $7.00 a month for the sports pack.

  10. Unless something happened to Zac in practice then its kind of hard to believe. There are always reporters at practice, something wouldve come out by now. I do remember seeing him hit his hand on a Mizzou defenders helmet on a throw but he stayed in the rest of the game. :dunno

IIRC, the media only get to see the first 10 or 15 minutes of practice, basically warmups, before having to leave.

  11. Where are you getting the info that Nebraska won't be on ESPN? Coverage maps don't come out until Wednesday generally, and I don't see anything in that email that tells.

It'll be on ABC, ESPN3.com and ESPN GamePlan. As mentioned earlier, Gerogia Tech/Clemson will be the reverse mirror game on ESPN for those having the Iowa game on ABC.

Just discovered that for those in Northeast Nebraska, the Husker game this Saturday will be on digital channel 9.2.

    http://www.kcautv.co....asp?S=13344477

ABC/ESPN has approved our request to present the Iowa vs. Wisconsin game on KCAU-TV (Channel 9.1) and the Nebraska vs. Oklahoma State game on Accuweather9 (Channel 9.2) this Saturday, 10/23 at 2:30pm. The coverage of both games starts at 2:00pm with the network pre-game show on the respective channels. Without this arrangement the Nebraska vs Oklahoma State game would not have been available in the Siouxland market. For advance planning purposes, both the Iowa vs. Michigan State game and the Nebraska vs. Missouri games will be presented on ABC in the 2:30pm (CT) window on 10/30 on a reverse mirror arrangement much like last weekend's (10/16) games. As you might expect, the Iowa game will be carried on KCAU-TV (Channel 9.1).
  12. I'm around the Sioux City area and when the Iowa game was on ABC my wife switched it to ESPN since they were going to cover the Nebraska/Texas game and it said that the game wasn't provided in our region so she had to tape it on ESPNU which wasn't presented in HD and I found that BS and mind blowing.

BTW I have Dish Network. Is the a Dish Network problem?

No, it's not. Next time Nebraska plays in the reverse mirror like this past Saturday, check one of the ESPN alternates. I have DirecTV and the Nebraska game was on channel 210 or 211, not the primary ESPN channel, which is 209. The powers to be do a poor job communicating that for those with Dish Network or DirecTV that the reverse mirror game is often on one of the alternate channels.

EDIT: 209 is ESPN2, ESPN is 206...my bad.

What is RTV5? Is that another ABC affiliate in Central Iowa?

RTV5 is a digital subchannel of the ABC affiliate in Central Iowa. RTV5 carries programming from the Retro TV Network

  13. The Nebraska game Saturday WILL NOT be part of the reverse mirror, Georgia Tech/Clemson will be the reverse mirror game for those getting the Iowa game on local ABC. The only way in Central Iowa Saturday to watch the Husker game will be on Mediacom digital channel 245 or the old fashioned way via rabbit ears. This was the case last year when Nebraska/Kansas & Iowa/tOSU were on ABC at the same time. It's not HD, but better than having to pay to get ESPN GamePlan for the day.

My guess is that when the coverage maps are released Wednesday is that only those in the Big 12 footprint will have the Husker game on ABC. Iowa/Wisconsin will be the primary game and GT/Clemson will be on ABC in the SE part of the country.

FWIW, I just checked the website for the Sioux City ABC station and their program guide for Saturday shows the game TBA. My guess would be that since the Big 10 game, as part of the Big 10's contract with ABC/ESPN, is guaranteed to be part of the reverse mirror is that the Nebraska game will be on ABC & Iowa on ESPN, but that's just a guess. We'll find out Wednesday.

Here's the text of the email that I received this afternoon from WOI-TV(I sent an e-mail yesterday morning asking what their plans were).

Good news: ABC/ESPN has approved our request to present the Iowa vs. Wisconsin game on ABC5 and the Nebraska vs. Oklahoma State game on RTV5 this Saturday (10/23). The Iowa coverage starts at 1:30pm with a "local" pre-game special from Iowa City; the Nebraska coverage starts at 2:00pm with the network pre-game show.

Just so you know, both the Iowa vs. Michigan State game and the Nebraska vs. Missouri games will be carried in the 2:30pm (CT) window on 10/30 on a reverse mirror arrangement much like last weekend's (10/16) games. As you might expect, the Iowa game will be carried on ABC5 at 2:30pm following a pre-game special at 1:30pm.

    Thanks for your inquiry.

    Ray Cole,

    President ABC5/RTV5

  14. offer a head coaching job to watson. That way he can reunited with his boy, Cosgrove! Come on Minnesota, you can do it!

It's possible that whoever is hired COULD retain one or two coaches from the previous staff, but it's more than likely that Cosgrove will be gone next year. I haven't watched enough Gopher football to know if defense was the problem or not. Only reason why Watson & Gilmore were retained was that offense wasn't the problem.

  15. As those in Central Iowa know, both Iowa & Nebraska are on ABC at the same time and unlike last week, the Nebraska game WON'T be in the reverse mirror. This afternoon, I received e-mail confirmation from WOI that they have received permission from ABC to televise the Husker game against Oklahoma St. will be on digital subchannel 5.2

  16. Howdy all!! I am a life time Longhorn in Austin TX. I thought I'd stop by here to say howdy and good luck in your future endeavors. All my interactions with Huskerfan have been positive, and hope to have a positive experience here.

As a lifetime fan/alumni I know what you all are going through today. I have run th entire gamut with the 'Horns, and that really is what makes the game special.

Good luck next week, and Hook 'em high like an eagle soars.

Congrats on the win and good luck the rest of the way.

  17. It would appear that right now, the game next Saturday WILL NOT be part of the reverse mirror.

The ABC schedule for next Saturday:

Georgia Tech @ Clemson 2:30 on ABC or ESPN

Nebraska @ Okie St. 2:30 on ABC, ESPN GamePlan and probably ESPN3.com

Wisconsin @ Iowa 2:30 on ABC or ESPN

My best guess is that the Big 12 footprint (except most of Iowa) will have the Nebraska game and that's about it for ABC coverage. Wisconsin/Iowa will be the primary game on ABC and the SE will have the GT/Clemson game.

In NE Nebraska, I think that Nebraska will be on ABC and the Iowa game on ESPN. I think Central Iowa will have the Nebraska game on a digital subchannel as this was the case last year for NU/Kansas and Iowa/tOSU.

  18. What possible reason can they have for showing the Iowa/Michigan game as the primary game on ABC up there in North-East Nebraska? That's bizarre.

If lived in that part of the state I would be peeved! :steam

NE Nebraska and the rest of the Big 10 footprint will be able to watch the Husker game on ESPN.

  19. I'd better get the Nebraska game. ABC here says Arkansas and whoever they are playing and the ESPN schedule says TX/NE or IA/MI.

    Better be the NE/TX game!! !! !!

The Arkansas game is on CBS. Nebraska/Texas and Michigan/Iowa are the only 2:30 games scheduled for ABC.
