Especially since it really seemed that there was at least some element of a cheap shot on Martinez that originally injured him. If that play never happens, maybe we hold on against Colorado (and maybe we don't), but we definitely beat Troy.

We should be 4-4 right now. I'm not going to sit here and say that we should have beat Purdue, but we were one first down and quarterback injury away from winning 2/3 against Colorado, Troy, and Northwestern.

But we're not. We didn't lose on a fluke. We lost on mistakes, penalties, and most notably really bad line play to six football teams. Purdue also happened to beat us handily. Therefore we might have had opportunities to win, but squandered them. Martinez was hurt, cheap shot of not. Our Quarterback room wasn't good enough of deep enough to win.  We are 2 and 6 . I feel very little sentiment for moral victories. If Nebraska reaches six (6) wins, then they deserve a bowl.

  2. I haven't marked it as anything. It's 11 on 11, there is always a chance. It's just not very likely. I'm going on 19 years of counting chickens before the eggs hatch. So now that we are finally rock bottom, I want to see tangible progress before I put stock in optomism. Even the hypothetical isn't much fun when we are in this state. Minnesota is a star t, and yes there is finally marginal progress. There is just a lot of getting ahead of ourselves out there in Huskerland.

  3. I just want to mention we have won exactly one (1) Football game and you people are talking about beating one of the better teams in the country that happened to have a bad night? Sure we can score points, and we have proven we can score a lot of points on some bad defenses. Heck, once this season we even scored enough to win. I have a few questions in light of this lofty "hypothetical" prognostication . What makes you think we are going to show up in Columbus and play the kind of DEFENSE it takes to win? Where is the consistent pressure and pass coverage going to come from that gets us to even hang in that game? Are the front three going to miracle themselves in  the back field, or are we just going to blitz the linebackers all the time and get torched on nickel and dime pickups? Finally, I sure hope don't have to rely on special teams for anything too important like a decent return or game winning fieldgoal, because I think we might be up turd creek if we do... But I sure hope my cynicism is unwarranted and that I'm wrong. I'll be happy to eat my words!

  4. That was pretty funny. It's nice to know how much Nebraska's success still gets to Iowa, even when we are rock bottom. Don't worry, the tables will turn like they always do and they'll still be b itching about how much better we are than they and dreaming about our 5-7 season in 2018.

The first, most obvious question is, who is he talking about?  Because that's a pretty overt thing to say in a presser.

Second is, how lucky are we to have a guy like Tanner Farmer who clearly seems to get it?

Third - does this guy want to coach? 'Cause he seems like the type.

You hit it on the head! What Farmer was talking about might not be why we lost, but I am convinced it's why we got humiliated!

  6. Michigan's Caliber is overstated. There has been just as much Kool Aid passed around about how great the Wolverines are supposed to be as the notion that Nebraska might knock them off. Football is a fluid sport, so the outcome is always in question. I have seen some truly s#!++y football teams knock off great teams. Nebraska at it's best is not a terrible team. Nebraska at it's best is more than capable of beating Michigan. You can talk about Michigan's talent and Nebraska's lack of talent until your blue in the face, what you think you know doesn't always play out in the field. No matter what coach speak you might want to throw out about being prepared about an opponet, I believe there is a good chance Michigan players mentally overlook Nebraska after the horrible start. At the same time I think Nebraska players will mentally play at a higher level because they are sick of losing, sick of their image getting tarnished, see an opportunity to prove themselves and aren't on the pedestal anymore to get knocked off of. Michigan is very much on that pedestal, and if there is any team who in recent history we've had there number, it's Michigan. I say we walk into the big house and knock off the Wolverines!

  7. Hey now, TIME OUT!....

My only complaint is that we let a highly pressured, slightly frazzled, and poor time managing BYU team regroup not once, BUT TWICE in the final seconds of the game.. Doesn't make me give up on the team or Riley.. It makes me frustrated.

  8. Something to think about: 1 Coach from OSU confirmed hire and out recruiting. Why would the others be only rumoured? We should probably chill for a bit.

and I don't know about you, but that one coach from OSU doesn't sound like such a bad pick up.
