  1. While this game is a measuring stick for Nebraska, I don't know if it really is for VT. VT is supposed to be one of the top if not the top team in the ACC while Nebraska by most media outlets would probably fall to what 4th in the Big 12 behind Texas, OU, and Okie State? The real measuring stick game will probably be the Miami/OU game where Miami is supposed to be one of the top ACC teams and OU is supposed to be one of the top Big 12 teams.

That's all well and good for Miami and OU, but this is a measuring stick for us. This game is a very important game for the program as well as recruiting. NU is planning on making it a big deal for the 300 sell out. Selling 3 and 4 star recruits tradition and atmosphere is all well and goo, but we have to start showing some of the better recruits that not only can we win big against college football's bottom feeders we can compete with the big boys.

Regardless to what people say when a kid sits down and looks at the options they have available they usually go to the school for two reasons:

Where do I feel I would get the best chance to play.

Where do I feel I will have the best chance to win.

Nothing saying all but for the most part all that other stuff is just fluff.

I am interested to see how the Miami/V-Tech game next week turns out becuase after our game we will know where V-Tech as and be able to gauge how good Miami really is.

Then the Miami/OU game following weekend will give us a good gauge of the OU team we will face on November 7th

  2. Pressure is going to have to come from the interior lineman. If end can take a true contain pass rush and not get baited into taking the inside they will have a good chance. What I have noticed with our ends is when they make there inside moves they are not a t QB depth making easy for the QB to get out side the pocket. They must drive the tackle to QB depth before dipping inside.

I truly hope the line stunt are not run as much as in the last to game becuase they have been unsuccessful. Yes Crick got a sack on a stunt. But on that particular play he was supposed to be outside contain. If that is done against this O-Line and Tyrod it could be trouble.

  3. Are you sure it was the right Mark May? Like was he black and have glasses and played at Pitt? No way it was that one... That's like blasphemy for ESPN or Mark May...

Me wonders if it is politically correct to ask if a black man is black even when describing him?

I have specific information regarding instances where just such a thing has happened. But I am not at liberty to share more than this. To be fair, this type of thing is not limited to Black people. It is a phenomenon I have observed in people of many genders, races, national origins and religions.

    Knapplc,

I knew you would bite but I wasn't being serious............lol

  5. The nice thing about being a fan is no matter what anyone else believes; no one can stop another from supporting the team of their choosing in which ever way they choose to do it. You can not watch a team or wear a jersey for 15 years straight, if you decide in year 16 to be a fan your a fan and there is nothing anyone can say.

People can having pissing contest of the length of their fandom, the years they have followed, or how many game they have been to. In the grand scheme of thing it doesn't mean anything.

  6. It doesn't matter, because they already know what they're going to say after the game. If you haven't been living under a rock this past week, you'll know that all of the media is saying that this game is a measuring stick for both teams. That means that if NU wins, they're going to state that obviously VT was overrated, thus dissing VT AND backhandedly dissing NU. If NU loses--even if by a point, NU isn't yet ready to join the national conversation. Mark my words. We won't get any love either way.

I completly agree with that. It was my hope that VT came into this game undefeated. The reason being is if the would have knocked off Alabama there would be no mistaking it after a NU win. For us to get any credit it has to be a battle that we win late. If its a NU blowout win (which I know it wont be) then you will hear alot of that over rated V-Tech talk.

  7. He does look very good. Last couple of weeks people on this board have down played the speed of this Miami team. They are looking good. Florida has been able to benifit from have the other two major programs in the dumps. If they keep on this route ole Urban may not find it as easy while recruiting FL.

  8. Not great stats but he make some pays when they need it.

My thoughts exactly because if he sucks that bad and ran on us last year what does that say about last years squad.

Tyrod Stats from last years game

    Stats from last year:

    Passing:

    C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT

    9/15 171 11.4 0 0

    Running

    CAR YDS AVG TD LG

    15 87 5.8 1 30

  9. Fuzzy,

I’m sorry but the Husker Power chant doesn’t really even compare. You can’t even hear anyone near the camera it sound very distant. The best one is the second video you have posted. If you listen to the V-Tech video you can barely hear the song in the background. Not to mention Husker Power Chant doesn’t require anyone to stand up and get out of there comfort zone.

  10. Bo landed the Nebraska job as a first-time HC.

LSU was at that time thought to be one of the top two teams in college ball. They were playing incredibly well and had won a NCS. They had a super D and Bo was the DC. And Nebraska was a program on the skids. Now if we go undefeated or nearly so and end up in an NCS game and we are looked upon as the best offense in the country AND Ohio State falls apart and finihes with 5 losses, indeed Watson might get a look. Otherwise no chance.

The comparison isn't even close right now.

All very true. I was just throwing that out there for the general edification of the masses, of which I am a part.

First it's Bel Biv Devoe and now you're using Don Kingisms, what are you drinking tonight Hennessy?

    Don Kingisms

    Classic

    Knapplc you have some competition.

Was the Hennessy a reference to Kanye's drink of choice or just the most ghetto drink you could think of.

  11. Does anyone know if this move was done today or was it done to start the week? I ask becuase after film review you would think this move would have occurred. Tuesday and Wednesdays practice is usually the hardest action so my guess is that Bo and staff were not impressed with the performance of the LB's or a certain LB yesterday.

Like many have said if this move has to be for his ability to play in the box becuase its not a move for speed. Regardless of the score of our first two game the tackling between the tackles has not been good.

Only two more days of speculation and it cant pass by soon enough.

  12. If Bo leaves he leaves. But to say we know his character or what he believes is foolish. It all depends on his feeling of where this program is in comparison to whatever job offer he is eligible for. We cannot try to gauge someones heart nor how they feel. I think sometimes fans feel that the way they would react about an offer to leave their team is the exact sentiments that should be shared by the coach leading their team.

Just like you would in a job he would do whats best for him and his family.

That being said beside the recruiting base I think at this point the OSU job would be a lateral move. However, it is the major college in the state he was born, he earned his bachelors and masters there, played football there, has been and is active with the goings on of the campus. I would think he would a least think about it if he was offered.

  13. the team doesn't have mental mistakes.

Contrary to an earlier post. we were flagged by those ACC officials for these reasons:

    1. Taylor got piled on when he was on the ground.

    2. The out of bounds hit was past the warning line. he passed a couple player on the bench to make the hit.

    3. The whistle had sounded.

    4. Lastly our fiery fearless leaders unsportsmanlike penalty were warranted. Even he admit he need to be smarter than he was in that situation.

  14. I to am happy to see him come back. There has been some great defensive players come through NU. I have never seen someone with the combination of Power, Size, and Speed. The way this man moves is crazy for how big he is. I think with his skill set and versatility he will have the best NFL career for a Defensive line player out of NU.

  15. I root for Big 12 North teams to lose out of conference. I realize it weakens our conference perception, but if we win the Big 12 and go undefeated, it doesn't matter. We should still get into the MNC game.

On the flipside, if Mizzou, Colorado, etc. lose embarassingly, it hurts their chances to get top recruits and build their program, and that makes it easier for us to go undefeated. If a recruit was trying to decide between Nebraska and Colorado, where do you think he would go after these first two weeks?

If it is believed that the conference wins within the conference are meaningless you end up like the Big East. They were the only BCS conference to have no team in the top 25 to start the season. This sadly is where the Big Ten is approaching. I love my team but i don't want the conference to be looked upon as a joke.

In regards to your recruiting argument. What has been happening with Ohio State, Texas, and OU pretty much sums it up. Winning the recruiting battles ever year but losing to teams in stronger conferences when it matters. (No i'm not calling the WAC a stronger conference)

  16. I always root for the Big XII schools OOC, and North schools in conference.

Nebraska's stated goal is to win the North, then the Big XII. Who wants to own a mansion in a trailer park? Give me a tough North and a tough Big XII and let us earn the title, and we've got something. Being the winners of a weak North division doesn't appeal to me.

Amen to that. That's what I been trying to tell people after that Colorado embrassment. For us to get talk about on the same scale as an SEC the worst team in our conference must compete and win out of conference.

  17. They did run that defense a lot and when your blitzing and spying they way they did you are often leaving your corners on an island. As I have said in another post I am not sure if our corners are talented enough to stay in man the majority of the game.

Hook Route, Slants, Curl, Comeback Outs, and Flats are vulnerable in this type of defense. Miss-tackles equal big gain and touchdowns.

That being said Tyrod hasn't proven he can stand in the pocket facing a rush and deliver on a constant basis with accuracy. He is actually better when he has to move to throw.

  18. Did any of you watch the FSU vs. Miami game?? Did you notice the talent on the field compared to Nebraska?? This is our senior class that will be going down to play Miami. And they are going to make us look like pee wees.

I am a firm believer that 4.2 and 4.3 players > discipline in college football 8 out of 10 times.

How did those "talented" FSU players fair against a big power house of a team who calls themselves Jacksonville State?

That pretty much blows your theory completely out of the water!

Pretty sure we going to be playing Miami not FSU.
