That's on Langsdorf. Quit calling long passing plays into the wind, bottom line.

I highly doubt Langsdorf, as moronic as he is, told Tommy to go for the home run with double coverage. That is on TA and TA alone.

    Agreed!
It's a bad play design. The DB no one to cover in his area so he fell back to cover the deep ball.

Langs has an 11 game sample size of stupid mistakes to choose from. Don't call plays that TA even has an option of flinging it deep. Simplify the game for the kid, and tell him do it with your legs if it isn't there.

I would like to think Langs has told him to stop forcing balls into coverage at some point(s) this season

This is what kills me the most. The staff said that they would look at film from spring and practice and design a game plan with what the kids can do. My a$$

That has been my complaint all year. Tommy's strength is not drop back passing. Having our defense play single high safeties and man coverage all game is not our strength. People were disappointed with the Riley hire, coped themselves into believing what the coach/players said in the off season, and now are upset with the player based on the bad play calling they are working under.

  2. I would advise most people to relax. Eichorst has given two statements this season and both have been done from a position of weakness. He is feeling the heat from his constituents. The board will have to fire both the AD and place someone in there on an interim basis who's sole purpose would be to let Riley go. A 3-9 or 4-8 record is pretty idiotic to defend and I don't see that playing well to Eichorst' bosses. In his closing statement, he asks the fans to cheer on against Michigan State. I've been told that the game this Saturday carries more weight than most will come to realize.

The only change that could occur in my opinion is an AD change. SE will not fire Riley this year. If the AD is fired, an interim AD will not fire Riley. Firing an AD and coach would be program suicide for recruiting.

  3. they cleared it up on 1620. He woulda counted towards the 70 limit, unless they get a waiver. they chose not to pursue the waiver. They needed all 70 in uniform. Do with it what you will.

Ever since it was announced that he didn't make the trip, I thought it was weird that he wouldn't travel with the team as well. Considering Riley confirmed last week that he does not sub the Oline for continuity, I don't see how Tommy couldn't get one of the 70 spots to be with the team.

  4. Unless Nebraska gets new offensive lineman, have WR that can catch consistently, and develops a running game (and sticks to it), it will not matter who is under center. Not making an excuse for Tommy as he holds the ball too long and makes poor choices, but he also run for his life throughout the game.

Hats off to the Blackshirts, we do need to catch an interception once in a while though. Two missed opportunities on that series.

Will probably need a interception for a TD. I don't see us scoring much on the offensive side of the ball.

Pretty sure this is not what you wanted, but we got to see one.

  6. Would taking down the banners inside the practice facilities help the program, hurt the program, or make no difference?

Jason Peter was on 93.7 The Ticket- a Lincoln radio station- today talking about Husker Football. (Link here: Jason Peter gives a harsh look at the state of the Huskers). They talked some about the former staff member stirring the pot with players, whom he identified as Kaz, but also discussed the program in general.

Jason was blunt, as usual, but one thing in particular he talked about piqued my curiousity:

Thats disappointing when he talks about, you know, he plays for himself, and his teammates, and the coaches, and you know, he forgot one group of people. Because without those people who wear read and white, and go out and buy everything Husker gear, do you know who you are? Youre a below average team that puts 25-32,000 fans in your stadium on a Saturday afternoon. Youre Illinois- thats who you are the team that just beat you. Thats who you are wake up and smell the coffee!

"You know, I dont know what [Husker players] think or how they envision themselves. Maybe its because, you know, down on the practice field you got the banners: Five National Championships! Thirty- however many conference championships None of those are yours, buddy. Were any of those guys out there playing? They should take em down and remind them who they actually are. Youre a sub-.500 team who the only thing you have going for yourself is that you play at Nebraska and that you have the greatest fans in the world that come out and support you every Saturday. Because if you were at Illinois, youd have 23,000 people showing up this weekend.

"I mean, thats the reality. They need some reality. And thats where I think Riley should have come in and just laid down the law. And said This is the way its going to be. But you know, you give kids an inch who, you know, have been told how great they are forever, you know, theyre going to take a yard."

Anyway, that got me thinking how easy it would be to get so immersed in the Nebraska Football history surrounding me all day every day that I might adopt that persona without ever having to actually accomplish those things myself. Not a knock on the players, just a question about motivation.

I don't fault the kids if they don't respect the fans. The former coaching staff wanted a rift between the fans and the team. Bo did not embrace the fans and made everything an us vs them situation. In my opinion taking the banners down won't hurt or help because the tradition doesn't seem to mean anything to them.

So, as hard as it is to be a Husker fan right now (I mean, come on. Within SECONDS of being what? 5-0?), at least Riley doesn't have a locker room tearing itself apart.

We are also close to being 1-4. This is how it starts. One day we say "Well at least we're not Texas!", the next day we say "Well hey at least we're not Kansas!". Personally I couldn't care less what's going on over there in Texas, or any other school for that matter. I care about what's going on with our program, and with this staff it appears we are settling for mediocrity.

+1 They have their problems, we have our own. People continue to laugh at other programs, but at least the national perception for Texas is they should be better. Not hearing much about where we are or should be nationally.

  8. Wisconsin is coming.

    Wisconsin is coming..

    Wisconsin is coming...

Lord Stark is dead. The nights watch has Jon Snow dead. Lord Baltons army has been destroyed.

What do we do when winter comes?

Would have rather had them coming off a win. Both them and us.
  9. I guess I was surprised when Mack Brown got fired but it's become thoroughly apparent just how bad of a state he left things there.

I was telling a friend that. They looked slow compared to ND, Cal, TCU, and OSU. Seems like a bunch of country club kids. How many damn FR are they playing.
