Did you read Banker's part of the story? He said that's not how it happened. And Diaco wasn't even here when it supposedly happened, so it's not like he's a first-hand witness. To me, it feels more like Diaco trying to deflect blame away from himself and Riley.
That would contradict Benning's side of the story then if true.

Man it seems like people are missing the bigger story here. Our coaches were being forced by people above HCMR on how and what to coach, even though the coaches themselves hadn't bought into it. The chain of command was in complete disarray. How can we expect the players to buy in to philosophy when our own coaches were against it?

Living smack in the middle of gator country, he'll get 6 games, at best, before people get mad. I work with 75% Gator fans, and a bunch of them wanted Mac out halfway through year one.
To be fair, you could go through these boards 2 years ago and people would say the same about RIley

A friend of mine, who is well connected said we are getting Matt Campbell. I don’t know who he is connected to, but hinted at Mike Riley being hired before it was announced. I’m really hoping for Scott Frost, but would be happy with HCMC. Thoughts?
Is there a way to tag people after posts like this to just ignore everything they say in future threads?

The dude hired Chip Kelly and Mike Leach. I approve
From what I have heard he didn't actually make the Chip Kelly hire. Not 100% on this though.

Nebraska fans refuse to learn from their past hype train derailments. Scott Frost is not the one and only option for Nebraska, and as you build it up as the only option that will make you happy you are setting yourself for disappointment.
Let the process play out, and pump the brakes on this "Frost is the next TO" stuff. It just makes us look bad.

If we lose to Rutgers, we are looking at the worst season since 1957, when we went 1-9. Not only will Riley be fired, he will be locked out of he stadium once the clock ticks 00:00.

Yes, I know parody has sunk in -- so many programs can and are successful these days. We didn't keep up.
True, it sucks to watch everybody build and innovate and we keep plummeting into complete irrelevance. Really hopping a new staff and turn things around.

Goodness, watching the 1st NU scoring drive just brought back memories on how we had the most effective most difficult to defend against offense. What a machine and a thing of beauty to watch.
I'm not saying that the power run game can't make a comeback but TG, it's a different time man. I just had a post about this but we had the secret sauce when it come to strength and conditioning for a very long time. It let us transform farm boys into juggernaughts for a long time, and it was so above and beyond what everybody else was doing, it led to a ton of success. Now that science, health and tech has transformed sports, you can't expect us to just turn to the run and have it be as successful as it was in the 90's.

I don't really care about Nebraska ties anymore. Things had changed since the 90's. Our strength and conditioning in the 90's and earlier were so above and beyond the rest of the country we could take Nebraska farm boys and turn them into blocking powerhouses. It's different now. Nebraska ties would be a small cherry no top. I want a proven coach, and I want to shell out an insane amount of money for him. I want a proven winner. I know people LOVE to think about Frost, but we need consistency and a proven record. Scott hasn't had a chance to prove those things yet, not because he is incapable, but because he hasn't had enough time.
I feel so much better today.

Do you really think that after nearly 15 years of knee jerk reactions by the athletic department AND the BOR's, that fans are going to continue to donate and spend $? There is an end to the gravy train.
You keep saying we have a history of knee jerk reactions but if you look at the top 25 programs they average about 2.5 coaches in the last 7 years. Most programs don't have the same coach for 20 years like Nebraska pre - 1997. This is the new college football landscape. Need to be quick to adapt and prove results if you want to survive.

it pretty much was-I don't know if we would have scored but it would have prevented their score. Probably. A complete brain fart.
Brain fart? They hiked the ball before he got set. That's not his fault. Shouldn't have called a play with lots of motion in the first place. The blame is on Lee and Langsdorf.

I didn't listen to the post game presser, but I'm assuming nobody asked coach "they were gashing you with the screens all night, why did you continue to play so far off the ball?"
Not looking forward to next week. Anybody that says we kept it vanilla on defense to mask our game plan for the Ducks, needs to take off the red tinted glasses because we almost pissed this game away.
I love Riley, but I also don't want to hang on to a losing coach for too long because he's a nice guy.

Any reason we haven't gotten an LoT yet?

Folks that have no nuance in their thinking see this and are offended for our troops. The identity of this country, the flag and our anthem extends far beyond our troops. True Patriots aren't afraid to express their dissatisfaction instead of blind loyalty. So whatever reason these players did this, it's well within their right, and it doesn't make them any less patriotic.

Word is that Power Mizzou is reporting that they are no longer visiting Missouri.

There were three names on SE's list. Riley was one of them and Frost was not. This was the first and only offer to go out for a HC. He got the man he wanted, people need to start dealing with this.

I have a hunch that Riley, 61, isn't coming alone. Frost may be our next hire as OC. I say this because it just feels like TO had his 2 cents in this decision (final). Riley. Frost. Orgeron.
Maybe making a "dream-staff" at some lengths.
Riley gets introduced during the Creighton game Sunday, and he doesn't come alone. "Let me introduce you to my OC, former Husker Scott Frost.
A guy can hope.
Frost isn't coming guys, I'm sorry but its the truth. I LOVE that we have a legit shot at coach O though. Yes please!

Can i just end the speculation in this thread before it gets silly and say, Scott Frost will not be coming to Nebraska in any way during this coaching change.

Hey guys, a few friends and I started a pretty chill sports podcast where we just chat about any interesting sporting stuff that happened over the week. Our plan is to have guests on pretty much every show from now on. We have Ron Kellogg, Houston Alexander and a few others lined up for future episodes. Just thought I would leave this here if anybody needed something to listen to at work. Here is a link to the website to listen.

Dont know how official this website is but this is the way I have always said it
Dear Lord, the battles we go through life,
We ask for a chance that's fair
A chance to equal our stride,
A chance to do or dare
If we should win, let it be by the code,
Faith and Honor held high
If we should lose, we'll stand by the road,
And cheer as the winners go by
Day by Day, we get better and better!
Til' we can't be beat...
WONT BE BEAT!
This is how the team currently says it, except they say stripes.

Here's what I will say about the O-line. Honestly, I can handle our guys going head to head against a great D-Line and losing the battles. Physically, their D-line was just flat out better than ours.
Here is what bothers me though... Watching Lewis, Sterup, etc get blown off the ball, and getting the edge over and over was causing AA and TA to get repeatedly hammered. Over and over again, they would just slowly walk back to the huddle. If it was my O-line, those guys would be running over to TA or AA after every play to pick them up. These guys were not mentally in this game. No mental toughness at all. Their lack of support of TA and AA im sure really messed with their mental game as well. Not only is your O-line getting you blasted, but they aren't even rushing over to scape you off the ground after.
This has to change.

I think we learned that we have been simply stretched too thin to compete with big time programs with this many injuries.

Diaco sounding off against Rugby Tackling
in Husker Football

I think it's less of a commentary on the current state of our Defense/Team and more on how out of whack the management was from the top. If true, an AD that micromanages so much as to dictate what style of tackling our coaches implement is insane.
