BIGREDIOWAN - Ok fair enough you are correct you were referring to Petrino when responding to me. Discussing the possibility of hiring Petrino was my original intention for this thread (Po Belini brought up Bielema (brought up by me in different threads - which changed this thread for how I saw it.) But you were referring to Petrino...not Bielema...so I am wrong. When Bielema was brought up I changed all my posts to discuss Bielema instead of Petrino (original intent of original post). I am man enough to admit that I am wrong here because I was arguing something with you that you never disputed (like an idiot). You win this one

Googled it again...still can't find any evidence of a "Strong" having anything to do with Razorback defense in the past 10 years. BIGREDIOWAN if I offended you that much I am really, really sorry but you have not yet responded to my last inquiry...I am going to bed have a good night everyone

Uh...we did beat Texas...I watched it....the official record of what happened that game is a joke

Just read it (won't agree or disagree with your statement because I am not knowledgeable enough to do so). All I know is the dude won at least 1 big game at Arkansas (2010 vs LSU...had them in a BCS bowl game same year w/ a competitive loss). Louisville has been pretty respectable this year as well (in his 1st season there). I won't argue the character issues sounds like he has a few (I will argue whether or not it is that much different from our current situation). EDIT - I will add...in regard to post #10...I looked it up on google & failed to find any evidence of someone named "Strong" being DC at Arkansas. It said Charlie Strong was DC at CENTRAL ARKANSAS ftom 1980-1983 is that what you're referring to??? Because I googled it & couldn't find any evidence of someone named Strong being defensive coordinator at Arkansas in recent years

Paul in WI - the thing I find appealing about Bielema is that Arkansas has been competitive this year against a difficult schedule (I don't know enough about Paul Chryst to comment on him).

BIGTEDIOWAN - I wasn't trying (whatsoever) to be "cute". If you're that offended by being called "big time mod" over an internet message board I think you're a little bit too sensitive (just my opinion). EDIT - Since you mentioned it lets hear his character issues then (besides he won the B1G championship (more than Pelini ever did), then left for another job, possibly without giving the school ample warning...& in general he's an a-hole.) I won't dispute those 2 points...they've already been brought up...I've already acknowledged them. They're both petty IMO. So what other character issues are you referring to BIGREDIOWAN?

Po Belini - I already acknowledged that the guys a dick. I am not disagreeing with you there. Thank you for refuting my opinion...yes I believe Nebraska is capable of hiring a head coach who can win football games & respresent the football program in a professional manner as well...but who? My opinion - yes the guys an a-hole but I also think he could win games & represent our football team in a professional manner at the same time. I am not saying he's the only coach that could do that. I believe there are MANY coaches who would be an upgrade over the current product at this point...I threw Bielema out there because I think he would kick ass once again in the B1G. & I don't believe any of the character issues you listed are that serious in the long run (our current HC has character issues himself).

Po Belini - if you can read (and I am sure you can) I actually agreed with you. I said if you don't like Petrino due to character issues, fair enough. You are the one who brought up Bret Bielema's name in this thread so I challenged you to state your issues with him (besides leaving Wiscy after winning the conference & talking some trash about his former conference afterwards - both sound pretty minor to me. Having a coach leave us after winning a conference championship would be an upgrade at this point - care to disagree?) So lets hear it then Po Belini - what are your issues with Bielema (you brought his name up?) EDIT - read the first 15-20 posts to the thread you linked. Yeah that really proves alot

You guys are right. I was wrong. Now that I think about it I am completely fine with losing to Minnesota & Iowa every year with the addition of 2 additional losses...both likely games where we get at least 50 hung on us. Lets keep things the way they are. Seeing huskerfan92 post "dear god no" & big time mod BIGREDIOWAN post "No thanks......." is enough to convince me that the status quo is just fine. Being competitive is overrated EDIT - huskermike84's post of "nope" has even furthered my previously stated opinions ANOTHER EDIT - I also want to remind everyone that after the 2012 Wiscy embarrassment I made a few posts suggesting "Hey lets try to hire Mark Dantonio his team his pretty competitive." The posters who responded to me made more or less the same type of responses as Po Belini, huskerfan92, BIGREDIOWAN, & huskermike84. Dude is now the 2nd highest paid head coach in college football...because he won games...

Sparker - my money says that if he's winning games you'll be watching

So I take it the fact that Bret Bielema left Wisconsin after winning the B1G & then talked trash on our conference after leaving is your only issue with him? Gee, thats a great reason not to try to hire a proven competitive head football coach. I would much rather have things the way they are...I totally see your point of view EDIT - I guess my point here...I think probably alot of fans would want to have a head coach with Tom Osborne's qualities. Which is why alot would be opposed to hiring someone like Petrino (fair enough). My point...there isn't going to be another Tom Osborne. Bo Pelini conducts himself nothing like Tom Osborne did. So yeah...a guy like Bielema will not be comparable to Tom Osborne...not even close...but guess what? The dude can coach some #/^&ing football

I am convinced (at this point) that their is too much nepotism in Bo's leadership for us to be successful. Evidence - Not 1 single firing after getting embarrassed at our own stadium by Iowa - Ryker Fyfe getting pulled after scoring our first TD in the 4th quarter against Michigan State in his first try - Neither Fyfe or Stanton getting a shot against Wisconsin (not that it would have mattered that game) - last statement, same thing for Minnesota game - who wants to bet that if Bo stays, so does Beck? If Beck doesn't, Rich Fisher will probably be our next OC & he'll be Bo's next scapegoat

VA Husker Fan - after seeing my team give up last week & then lose back to back games to the Golden Gophers...any success at all sounds really appealing right now

I am guessing many would be opposed to this & I don't understand why. He took over a mediocre Arkansas team & made them one of the most competitive teams in the SEC. Louisville (a $^/* football school) has been competitive in every game this year with him running things (& he didn't inherit their star QB). Also...we're paying Bo more than he's making? So if you think we can do better than losing 31-70 & 24-59 to nonelite Wisconsin teams & back-to-back losses to the Gophers.. why not see if the man is interested? Is Petrino the kind of guy to say no to a raise?

I would get a major hard-on if we hired Petrino (#/^& why can't we we're already paying Bo more than he's making. I would guess he wouldn't turn down a raise...)
