Wait a doggone minute... Bill Callahan and Bo Pelini are not Scott Frost. Bill took over a good team and destroyed the program. Bo took over a terrible team and made them decent (top 40). The guy who shall not be named took over a decent program and made them bake cupcakes. Scott took over a bakery, had 30+ dough boys leave in his first year for other culinary schools, and has so far turned that bakery back into a smelter. The blacksmiths can’t replace doughnuts with iron overnight. This staff had the hardest job of all 4 coaching staffs partially named above. He’s going to need time to win a division/conference championship. What we’re seeing is an actual transformation of a team. Culture changes take time. These kids can win, they just need to believe it. A lot will change by the OSU game, including the tone of this thread.

In 2008, Nick Saban’s 2nd year at Alabama, the Tide came out flat in their second game against Tulane. Alabama won 20-6. Tulane finished 2-10 that year. Alabama has 18 returning starters. They finished 12-2. We aren’t going to finish with 12 wins, but I guarantee we’ll win at least 9 this year and have a chance to win the division. Frost took over a much worse team than Nick. We’ll look back on the first 3 years under Frost as clear building blocks to rebuilding a perineal power house.

Yup. Scott Frost will be behind the ballsiest team for years to come.

Yes, I most certainly do, sir.   The Blackshirts are:  The Husker Defenders - the first line of defense - our Marines - our leathernecks.    It is not just 'the starters' but those who are the members of the first platoon of defense.   Our defense today will consist in my opinion based on what we've seen of Frost and Chin etal is a platoon of mean, hungry, hard charging players who will go in there and fight and die trying to stop and stuff the opponent's offense and get the ball back for our offense.

In my view it is not 'just the names of those who play the first snap of the first game on defense = evidence by I believe Frost has around 14 already.   I recall Blackshirts be given out by Osborne and McBride a time or two for the punter, for example.  It is deemed a great honor to 'get' the Blackshirt as that signifies you as one of the best Husker warriors on the team.

...and 25 or so are considered our “first platoon”?

I’m lucky my eyes could see my screen to type that; if they rolled any more they would’ve gone into the Missoura.

  3. I’m interested in how they decide the defense had a good game. Under 300 yards, 14 points, or five yards per play would be a good threshold. Three turnovers. Maybe accomplish two of the goals and it’s a good game... only if they actually win.

A lot of ideas to consider.

I would prefer if we only had the Adidas and B1G patches. The red circle patch is silly too in my opinion even though we used it during successful years. It has no specific meaning. People know about Nebraska, why do we need to tell them on our uniform that we have traditionally won many games? Also, those pads were gigantic so we had a lot more real estate to work with.

This damn patch is maddeningly cumbersome. Colorado is just going with a helmet sticker. It would make a lot more sense for that, considering we already have three different shoulder dressings. Also, adidas could have put their logo back to the middle for these, it would have made it a little more bearable.

The Blackshirts emblem is cool in theory, but it just adds to the mucky muck on the shoulder pads. It looks like we’re wearing a NASCAR uniform.

I think if we're both undefeated there's a decent chance we get Gameday, which I think would make a difference.

If we’re both unbeaten, I don’t see any way FOX passes on the game. If we’re playing at 11 a.m. on FOX, there’s less than zero chance ESPN comes for Gameday.

I think the 'tall LBs' being referenced would include Bryant-Strother - he's 6'3, same as Hannah and an inch shorter than Henrich. All taller than Young and Barry, we should definitely have better size at MLB moving forward. Miller is a step that way too, I think he's 6'3 as well.

Does anyone know for sure how to pronounce his name? Co?

Holy cow! Until I read your post, I’ve just been reading Chloe. Choe makes a lot more sense!

Why would you choose to focus on that?

In my case, it wasn’t what I intentionally focused on as it popped up on my feed. It’s just what was the most apparent at first glance.

There’s the horrible font choice (that ‘O’!). But the wing is masked by the ‘t’ and ‘e’ in “committed” despite the rest of the word being masked by the player who is behind the winged photo. Never mind the wings on the left side being in front of the letters. All of this without a single element’s perspective being altered from a straight line.

    Sheesh!!!

Nice to have him on board though!!

So, Bunchy to center then, yeah?

QB “dive”, handing off to Bunch on the dropback as JD streaks wide open downfield.

    Genius.
