  1. So I got asked by a friend today what has Nebraska done in the pros, so of course I talk about Craig, then Wistrom, Shields, Thomas, fryar, Bob brown, and Guy Chamberlain. But it got me thinking, who were the most successful Huskers in the NFL. So my question 4 y'all is who would ur top 5 b and y?

    Fixed.

I'd have to agree with Craig and Green being up there. I didn't get to experience a lot of the older guys, but Shields, Fryar, Neil Smith, Rathman and Wistrom are names that I'd have no arguments against either.

  2. I hope he stays with football. If that 4.36 40 he ran is true he could be a QB for the ages...

Congrats on landing Starling from a Buckeye fan. Looks like he had a pretty good offer sheet(incl. ALA and ND). What type of offense has Nebraska been running since Bo took over. Is there any one game I should watch to get a sense of the type of offensive identity we should be expecting from the Huskers in 2011 and 2012?

I'd say watch the Arizona game from last year. That's what Shawn Watson has been wanting to do, but with injuries and whatnot last year he and Bo held the reins a little bit. What with rest and players getting healthy, they could let loose more in the bowl game, so that one should be indicative of where our offense is heading.

  3. it may survive but it will be bumped down to non BCS status very quickly with the alignment listed above.

    North Division

    Kansas

    Kansas State

    Iowa State

    Missouri

    Northwest Missouri State

    Pittsburg State

    South Division

    Baylor

    West Texas A&M

    Abilene Christian

    Sam Houston State

    Stephen F. Austin

    Wayland Baptist

The big east has survived on the backs of its tradition rich programs ( West Virginia, Pitt) and those who filled the void (Cincinnati, Rutgers, and south Florida).

In the realignment there are no really storied programs there with national titles in football.

I give this conference a 20-30% chance of survival and that is a a very positive assessment.

Considering over half those schools are FCS I'm gonna say that's highly unlikely and you missed the sarcasm.

  4. I heard somewhere that he was actually flurting with the idea to RS next year and then kick in 2011.

You're just saying that so I don't look crazy.

I actually remember reading that somewhere too. Not sure where though.

  5. I never listen to the football games on the radio, unless I absolutely have to. But I'll miss him.

I hope he'll still be doing the baseball games.

I used to listen to the radio while watching the game on tv, but Janet and Justin f'd that all up for us dedhoarse .

its a lil more effort than one should have to go through to do so, but with my DVR i can stop the game as needed to make the radio broadcast sync up. There seems to be just as big of cushion on the radio side, they just time it out differently with breaks and stuff. It seems to work good enough for me, and I rarely listen to the TV broadcasts.

    :bang:bang:bang:bang:bang:bang

WHY HAVE I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS!!!??? Thanks for the post!

I'm not quite sure how that would work since the radio is already ahead of the tv, slowing down the tv would just make it worse.

  6. I couldn't stand the guy if we're being honest here. He's a husker through and through, but I'd find myself getting very annoyed while watching him on Big Red Wrap Up. He's routinely mess up someone's name or say something that wasn't true, and what he was talking about, was common sense stuff that anyone would know.

Thanks for your service Mr. Fiala.

Man I can't agree with you more. It drove me nuts whenever they'd have a guest on there and he would interrupt them to add his little anecdote that served no purpose other than for him to bring up his playing days. While I respect him as a former Husker, as an analyst/host he was far from great.

  7. More like Leach to Oregon State IMO

Nice call...that would likely happen if Riley leaves for USC. Mike Leach would surely love to compete against the Oregon Nike Ducks...Oregon is known as where all the fast offensive skill players go to spread it out on offense...Leach would certainly draw some players away with potentially an even higher powered offense.

Being an Oregon State fan, I'd hate it if they lost Mike Riley. Of course, I've always liked Mike Leach's personality, so I could live with it if he was hired. I like Riley a lot better though.

  8. I wore the same shirt for every game since the Missouri game in 1997, and in 2007 before the USC game, I met Stewart Mandel and he said you can definitely tell I've wore it a lot. But after that season I decided it was time to retire the shirt and got a new one. Then after the Iowa State game this year I realized I still had the same game day hat as I did in 2007, so I went and bought a new one. Voila, we were winning again. I also have to wear my black and red K-swiss shoes on game days. I tried wearing my Husker slippers during the Texas and Colorado games, and we lost and gave up the most yards all season, so I went back to the shoes. Also every game that I went to another couple's house to watch the game this year we lost. So I told my wife, there's no way in hell we're going to watch a game there next year.

  9. You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. That music is annoying and terrible. There's tons of great hip hop songs to choose from. Why choose the terrible kind?

    :rollin:rollin:rollin

    great hip hop?

    Oxymoron?

    Like Jumbo Shrimp?

    Naval Intelligence?

I Still remember when some of my lamer friends thought Disco was "Neat".

May you all live long enough to be really really embarrassed by your tastes in music.

This video needs some Powerman 5000!

    ...

    Great Depression

    free trade

    peacekeeper missile

    sweet tart

    crash landing

    now then

    butt head

    sweet sorrow

    student teacher

    silent scream

    taped live

    alone together

    good grief

    tight slacks

    living dead

    near miss

    light tanks

    old news

    hot chilli

    criminal justice

    peace force

Wait Wait Wait -- I hope this guy is being sarcastic because he said Powerman 5000.... they weren't even a 1 hit wonder! They were a band akin to slipknot -- all visuals no substance.

That's quite possibly the funniest quote I've ever heard if it was stated as fact....

HAHAHAHA POWERMAN 5000! We'd need a second song to mix, so who should that be -- Rob Zombie?

Of course Rob Zombie. Reunite the brothers.

As for oxymorons how could you forget Microsoft Works?

  10. I know Lee did awful against Texas.

I still say Green does worse. With Green, you may as well just never pass right now. I know Lee is just not cutting it in games, but Green is far from ready, and it's not because he hasn't been given time to play, it's because he hasn't been given time to redshirt and develop that area of his game. And that's nobody's fault, really, except for maybe the coaches who rushed Spano back.

Green can and will be a great QB, but he doesn't give us the shot now.

You put Green in against that Texas D all game, and his final state line is 1-of-7, 2 picks, 5 yards. Because we don't bother asking him to throw more than that. Not a knock on Green, but a year ago he was running vanilla offenses against Texas high schools. He'll get it in time.

Yeah, I know it's bad guys...but it can always be worse.

I will add one thing though, if Lee has lost the team and they won't play for him like they will play for Green, that's when you have no choice but to go with the youngster. Leadership is a lot. But that's something we have a very limited read on, as fans.

I think it was Menelik Holt, but I'm not for sure, that was a member of a facebook group titled "Cody Green is Our Quarterback" or something along those lines.

  11. It's all about the points. You gave up 12 points to us, more than Oklahoma or Iowa State gave up, and we played both at home. In your home turf, with home-field advantage, you should have been able to hold an offense this inept to three or six points. We scored only five points less against you than we scored against K-State and only three points less than we scored against VT.

Well, to be fair, the Texas O spotted you 6 points. Your first two field goals had nothing to do with your O.

Technically it did, because we didn't give the ball back before kicking the field goal, like we did after the blocked punt. It's an accomplishment for our offense to keep the ball long enough to kick a field goal.

  12. If Suh scores a TD or when he sacks McCoy, will he strike the Heisman pose? I don't think he will (not his style) but I would love it!

I disagree. If he were to score a TD, I think he would do it. Don't you remember his celebration after the INT for a TD last year against CU? Dude was pumped up. Not sure if he'll get in the endzone, but man that would be awesome!

IIRC, he regretted doing that later. I'd say there's a 0.01% chance he'd do it.
