  1. Very timely. Otherwise it would have been taking place in an alternate universe. ;)

Actually I didn't like the fact that most of the people at the party weren't wearing red.

I stopped wearing red because it put us on a two game losing streak. I didn't wear red last week and look what happened...

...you guys are welcome by the way.

I like to think it's because I bought a new Husker hat. The one I was wearing I had bought during the Calliban era, so I figured it was time for a new one. Plus, I went as Bo for Halloween, so I had to get his coaches hat.

  2. pinkout FTW! Any word on it yet?

I sent an email to TO's assistant, Anne Hackbart, but she did not reply to me today. We'll see.

I see this as a very big longshot as far as any UNL involvement. It's very very last-minute for them.

We could do this next year, though. I would be happy to spearhead an email and message board campaign. Anything I can do to help here.

    Any response yet?

  3. Not that this helps at all but in 2007 I had a sign for the Kansas State game that was:

    GiVe

    Every

    HuskeR

    Something

    Useful

    Santa

And then had BO written with candy cane stripes and a Santa hat on. I guess Santa delivered.

I think the Crick-rolled is a pretty good one.

  4. I have a friend who absolutely loves the gators. he once got upset because their woman's gymnastics team lost. He says he believes he loves them because gators were his favorite animal as a kid and that started it. whatever, at least it is legitimate; although, a fortunate pick. and annoying as a husker football fan and bluejay basketball fan.

    Man that drives me nuts.

Anyway, my wife has a friend who's a complete Texas fan. Her baby has a Texas crib and mobile, and his nursery is painted burnt orange. It's sickening. She always posts on her Facebook that she's sick of hearing about the Huskers. I told her to move then.

Why does that drive you nuts, your attitude drives me nuts. I was born and raised in Omaha and I would be a Creighton football fan if they had a team, they don’t. I do not see an issue with being a huskers football fan and bluejay basketball fan; they are different teams in different sports. It’s not like being a duke basketball fan and tarheel basketball fan.. I guess if I am a fan of the home team basketball team, I can't be a fan of a college football team. It's more like an Omahan being a Cubs fan and a Chiefs fan; which I imagine you would find acceptable.

I wasn't meaning you personally, just in general. I live in Central Nebraska, so it drives me nuts when someone from here is a Husker football fan, but as soon as football season is over, you wouldn't know they were a Husker fan, because they hop on the Creighton train. It just seems like bandwagon jumping to me. Growing up in Omaha makes it more acceptable. I was just saying it drove me nuts. Not that you need my approval anyway.

With his speed he could be ball hawking, Josh Bullocks-esque.

  9. After watching the football follies video on YouTube from the Iowa State game, how can you blame anybody other than the players that fumbled? I mean, other than the 2 errant throws, Zac Lee apparently played well. I live in Florida so I didn't get a chance to see the game as it is out of my 'area' but after watching those follies, if we don't fumble, we win that game 35-9 at least. I know Zac Lee isn't the best QB and we often question Watson's play calling but not even the almighty Tim Tebow could have won that game for us against Iowa St with those types of turnovers.

i thought the same thing after watching the video and, like you, did not get to watch the game live. maybe if the game is watched in its enitrety, then his ineptitude that people are talking about on the board would be obvious, but most of those turnovers looked to be other players' faults.

No, I watched the game and I agree with you two. I thought Lee played pretty well actually. Every time he made a check, the play went for good yardage so it seemed to me that he was in a nice groove managing the Offense. The turnovers were the story of the game, plain and simple IMO. People talk about the Offense having issues, but I didn't see it really. I saw an offense that on most days puts up 42+ points, but turned over the ball nearly every single drive.

He averaged less than 7 yards per attempt, and if you take away the Niles Paul fumble debacle, it was less than 5. That does not scream good yardage.

  10. I would have to say that SEC officials are the biggest joke in sports right up there with NBA refs. For example on the Alabama's blocked field goal of Tennesee's, Terrence Cody took off his helmet even though the play was still live, he should have been flagged for unsportsmanlike and the Vols should have had the chance for another kick, just another clear example of the SEC making sure that there will be an SEC team in the BCS game this year.

The SEC has addressed this. The flag should have been thrown. But since that penalty is treated as a dead ball foul, it's assessed after the result of the play. The game can't end on a defensive penalty, but since Tennessee already kicked and missed, Alabama had assumed possession. Therefore it was an "offensive" penalty. Game over.

Ahhh, I gotcha, my mistake, ty for the correction.

    No problemo.

but Knapp, I am in the mood to make him look like an idiot. It will make me feel better and shouldn't be that difficult.

Whenever you're ready, lets do this.

In all honesty, I don't have a favorite team, but I do root for whoever is playing the Huskers.

Cy the Cyclone said it best a week or so ago before the ISU/NU game. Nebraska fans CONTINUOUSLY over-estimate themselves, their football program, their coach, etc. etc. while under-estimating their opponent and believing (REALLY BELIEVING) that its football team is a nationally relevant team. It's not. Be realistic.

The best example is the office pool here at work every Saturday. I was the ONLY one who picked Nebraska to lose. Every other brain-washed Husker lover in my office picked Nebraska...and picked them by 2-3 touchdowns.

All I'm here for is to help ground some people and pull them back down to earth. With the upcoming schedule and Nebraska's undoubtedly promising future, I'll be here for awhile.

You know, this post really tells us you have a real team. Nobody gets into football enough to go to a football based board and post without having a rooting interest. And most don't say they root for whoever a certain team plays, unless they root for that team's rival. Case in point. I am a Jets fan (hiring Billy C. made rethink that, but I'll admit he's a good assistant). The two teams I root for are the Jets, and whoever's playing the Patriots.

Missouri fan, no doubt. You're just too chicken sh-- to say it, because you know if you admit it, then you'll realize you look like a dumba--, since your team hasn't won since September.

So did you pick us to lose to Mizzou, FAU, ULL, and Arkansas State too?

  14. Where are we coming up with this Jim Grobe allegation? Link please.

    2. Nebraska: Bo Pelini, C-. The depth of failure in the Bill Callahan era: an abominable showing on the field, fear of change off it. You don't settle for Pelini because he spent one year in Lincoln and knows "the Nebraska way." When Jim Grobe says he wants to hire his own staff, you say "whatever you want" and close the deal.

Really? This is "evidence" that we offered Jim Grobe? That article is so full of FAIL it's pathetic. This guy is clearly tossing spaghetti at the wall, hoping something will stick.

    :yeah

  15. To be honest, Saturday was the first well officiated game I've seen all season (out of all games, not just Nebraska games). The only questionable call I saw was on the ping pong ball interception, it appeared the Iowa State defender's knee was down when he got ahold of the ball. Even that though was bang bang, and not entirely conclusive. Of course the rest of the season it's been ridiculously bad.

I'm pretty sure you can catch a ball while down (unless you went out of bounds), you just can't advance the ball (for obvious reasons). That was just excellent heads-up play.

But yeah, I saw some bad officiating this weekend all around (USC game, anyone? That horrible face mask that tore the receiver's helmet off right in front of the official?). It's strange how there have been so many hyper-reactive calls there have been (Suh's hand coming down on the top of the QB's helmet) and how many dangerous/reckless moves have been overlooked (Robinson, I think, being tackled by his headgear). And, no, not just against the huskers, but all teams (our players have 'gotten away' with a lot, too).

Maybe this isn't due so much to officiating but how many angles there are and how much detail there is in modern broadcasting. We see a lot more than we used to and with greater clarity (and I was able to rewind to the non-replayed helmet tackle of Robinson during the next commercial to watch it a couple of times to see that it really looked like he was grabbed by the back of his helmet or earhole and pulled down... he didn't wrap his head up, he grabbed his helmet). A few years ago, that wouldn't have been so easy to see, wider angle views, maybe no camera at that vantage point, and HD all factor into what we're seeing.

So maybe there aren't more fish, the holes in our netting have just gotten a lot smaller.

I know that. He advanced the ball 16 yards after catching it...

  16. This is NOT a great defense. It has one great PLAYER.

Beyond Suh, Nebraska is average at best in most positions on defense. Don't forget that other than Iowa State throwing the long pass immediately after the faked punt, they didn't take ONE, NOT ONE shot downfield on Saturday.

The Cyclones ran zone read after zone read and tried to sit on the ball after half time. Texas Tech played a similar second half the week before.

As soon as Oklahoma and Kansas roll up 30+ on Nebraska all of you "Blackshirt" clowns and "Throw Da Bones" idiots will be singing a different tune about this "great" defense.

I'm sure you think it'll get better, but the last time I checked, Suh is a senior and at this point, the 2009 season is a lost cause because the Nebraska offense is beyond pathetic.

Keep up the false hope, Husker Nation. It'll be a DECADE before you're relevant again.

And who, pray tell, do you root for, to think that Nebraska doesn't have a great defense? Some bandwagon team? Not likely. The angst you have in your posts sounds more like a Colorado or Mizzou fan. Haha. How are their defenses holding up? Hell Mizzou gave up 27 points to arguably the worst offense Nebraska has had in over 40 years.

Lee is not the primary problem, especially Saturday. We turned the ball over 8 friggin' times...no team wins when you do that.

I wish everyone would get off his a$$, because it is getting old. If you think Lee is the problem with this team, then you aren't listening or watching the games.

Same thing goes with Watson. All you Watson haters need to wake up. We moved the ball Saturday, got into the red zone, so we must have been doing something right to get there. If you want to fire Watson, then start coming up with names to replace him - people that are available, or that would even want to come here with our reputation of turning over coaches lately. I think you will end up with a blank piece of paper when you go to make that list. Get off these people's butts and either start supporting the team like a good fan would do, or find something else to do on Saturday until the bandwagon is going in the direction you approve of, because with all this crybaby crap, you are showing that you are nothing more than bandwagon fans that don't pay attention to what is really causing the problems, but would rather just serve up someone's head on a platter.

This calling individuals out (especially players) has got to stop. It is the not classy at all, and does not represent this team well at all. If I were a recruit, I would seriously wonder about the fans that are doing this on a board that is supposed to be supportive of Nebraska Football. I am not saying you need to be a homer, or can't point out what you think might be contributing to the problems, but don't be trying to serve up someones head - it is totally classless!

Get over it already - IT IS JUST A GAME!!!

BTW - My offer stands. If any of you season ticket holders can't stand to watch right now, I will take those tickets off your hands and give them to someone that would really appreciate going to the game. And they won't be the type of people that sit on their butts the whole game, or boo the home team. They will be REAL fans. If your going to bother showing up, at least be willing to enjoy yourselves - you are probably getting a break from your otherwise miserable lives. dedhoarse

You must be listening to the games, because when I watch the games I see Lee afraid to make a play, always going to his checkdown receiver, who is always within 5 yards of the LOS, usually behind it. I see QB who doesn't step up into the pocket. I see open receivers who he routinely fails to see, at least I hope he doesn't see them, because if he's not throwing it to them after seeing them, then that's worse. I see almost every pass he has past 5 yards being high or behind his receiver. I've said it before, I'm a more accurate passer beyond 5 yards, and I haven't played QB since 4th grade recess. I see a QB who doesn't have command of his offense, who doesn't provide the fire when needed. He lacks moxie, and that "it" factor. There's more to playing QB than completing swing passes all the time. Anyone who watches Lee and thinks he's a good QB, well I really question their football knowledge. He may be the best QB we have for Watson's dink and dunk crap, but that's because Watson has taken all the gunslinger out of him. It seems Cody has some of that in him. He may force some throws and have some interceptions, but I'm much more willing to put up with a QB who is trying to make plays and doesn't as opposed to a QB who doesn't even try to make plays and just checks down to his RB. I wonder if everyone supporting Lee was on Keller's side in 2007, because we all know how that turned out. This seems like an almost identical situation. I just hope it doesn't take an injury for Cody to see the field, because I don't want Lee to be injured.
