  1. I don't understand how anyone, Knapplc, can act like Lee isn't part of the problem. People say others have a stiffy for Green, at least there's the hope of change there. Having a stiffy for Lee makes zero sense. I just wonder how many games you've watched if you think that Lee is playing well enough to silence doubts about his play. He makes poor decisions, throws poorly on the run and/or further than 5 yards, has poor pocket presence, and routinely fails to take open running lanes when nothing is open (or he refuses to hit an open tight end). I can understand sticking up for a guy, but saying he isn't the problem at all is ridiculous. I'm sorry but I must have been dreaming when I saw Cody Green come in and have better command of the offense last week. Errant throws included, he couldn't have made this game worse. Our offense is lethargic and needs a spark. He seemed to provide that last week, since you know Lee produced 0 TDs in 3 quarters and Green produced 1 in 1 quarter. If the coaches ever decide to give Green a chance when it actually means something, I'll be glad to tell you "We told you so."

  2. I think Bo already said this week that he doesn't care what fans think of him.

Which is ridiculous. The fans write his paycheck. I'm sure if fans stopped going to games and he got fired, he would care.

In no way am I condoning not going to games. I'm just saying that's a piss poor attitude to have.

  3. So when Green comes in and his WRs drop balls or let passes bounce off their hands, is that going to be Green's fault?

Lee is NOT the problem. He may not be the solution, but he isn't why our offense sucked today.

Did I say that? I'm not saying it's his fault for the drops, but he sure doesn't help his receivers by throwing it behind them most of the time. And if Watson is going to be calling the stupid zone reads, why not put in Green and add a running threat. From what we've seen, Green has better pocket presence, and better running ability. That in and of itself would be reason enough for me to have Green play. Lee is a big part of the problem. If you can't see that, I'm sorry, but don't try to say he isn't a problem, when it's clearly evident he has issues.

  4. Yeah if you consider all but one pass beyond five yards being off target and setting his receivers up to get their heads taken off as playing well. I love ya Bo, but you gotta admit when you're making the wrong decision. There is absolutely NO REASON Cody Green shouldn't have played in this game. Zac Lee isn't the only problem, but he is a big one. EVERY PASS THAT GOES PAST 5 YARDS IS OFF TARGET! I think everyone in Nebraska knows who that resembles. Sam Keller. I'm of the opinion that Niles Paul should be riding the bench, and Roy Helu shouldn't even be playing because he's obviously not well. It just irritates the hell out of me that Bo and Shawn just think "oh we should stay the course". If they're satisfied with scoring one touchdown a game, if that, then they don't have the desire and fire to succeed like I thought. Is it any coincidence that our two most pitiful units, Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers, are coached by Shawn Watson and Ted Gilmore, both ex-Colorado coaches, and both the only coaches left from Callahan's staff? Of course if the Wide Receivers actually had passes that were on target they'd be a little easier to catch. And the Zone Read that Watson calls is the most ridiculous thing. It's like he thinks Cody Green is actually playing, because it's obvious Zac Lee isn't going to keep it and get more than 2 yards. If Cody Green were playing, how much worse could it get. He may have turnovers, but we're already doing that, so there's no change. He can make plays with his feet, and knows how to step up in the pocket, and fire passes downfield. Zac Lee averaged 6.7 yards per attempt, which is pitiful considering he had a 72 yard pass. Take that out and he averaged 4.9 yards per attempt. 4.9!!!!!!!! When you constantly have to reach behind you to catch a ball, that's on the quarterback. Sure the receivers should catch a few of them, but it'd be nice if more than one was on target. I'm a more accurate passer and I haven't played quarterback since 4th grade recess!

  5. It seems to me that Lee stares down his receivers too. I was still behind Lee after the Mizzou game because of the weather. But now, I think I'm switching to the Green bandwagon. Sure, he almost had a few balls picked off, but he just needs more experience. Lee has had 5 games. He still seems so nervous in there. He has happy feet and dances around and can't find a receiver and just seems like his head isn't there. He reminds me way too much of Mr. Keller, and we know how that turned out. Green seems much more poised and probably will have better success with some experience.

    Ding, ding, ding, ding.

I've been thinking this all year. His playing style, his attitude with the media, pretty much everything about him reminds me of Sam Keller. We all remember what happened when our backup came in for Keller right? Who knows, at least with Green we're working towards something. With Lee it seems we're just sitting still.

  6. I think we're being a bit too harsh. While I thought the performance was pretty horrendous, I don't think calling for the staff's heads is the right call. If you ask me where the most concerns lie, its right here:

WAY too many mistakes. These are player mistakes, not coaches. While I understand the discipline is often a direct reflection of the staff, the coaches aren't the one's playing. It's hard for me to say this because I personally believe its a coaches RESPONSIBILITY to take all the blame whether its warranted or not. In this case, I have to stand up for them a bit before they get stoned to death.

What the heck? We had 2 turnovers. The fumble and Cody Green's interception.

  7. WOW.

Maybe Suh will see this and motivate him. T Tech doesn't want to see an angry Suh.

or maybe Suh's brother will accidentally crash his car and then take it to the school and make it look like Texas Tech players did it. They can cover it with Anti-Husker graffiti and have it say 'From Potts and Sheffield'

    :clap

    Aloha Mr. Hand.

  8. is a stud WR. I think lee will mature into a competent QB, but he really needs a consistent target. I would really like to see the staff focus on a WR in recruiting and go all out after him. have a coach at every game..... whatever needs to be done(within the rules) to get him here

How about developing the ones we already have?

Don't give up on this season already.

oh i'm not by any means. but when you are recruiting you try to improve your team, and right now that is what the team is lacking

Yeah..I didn't really think you were..It's just that new recruits won't get here soon enough to help out this year's team...

We do need to recruit WR's with really big hands, though.

    I've got a 10.25" wingspan :hellloooo

I remember an assistant coach coming back from a coaching clinic telling us that the best way to improve catching ability was to develop finger strength..and the way they were thinking of doing that was to have you grab a full page of a newspaper by the corner..one in each hand with your thumb and index finger...Then wad each up as fast as you can each page in a separate hand..repeat until you've gone through the Sunday paper...hurts, but it gave me "Popeye forearms" and I've never dropped a pass..(almost).

Holy crap you have short arms.

  9. game is finally here and no more silly comparisons to whatever. may it be a clean game won decisively, can't say what will happen.

NU has lost 14 of 15 to ranked opponents and hasn't been good in road games for years but all that is not relevant to these two young teams. Best team should win.

Will pt out that lee didn't play well in only competitive game and has not had to mount a comeback money drive whereas Gabbart has and been a beast in 3rd and 4th quarters. Now who plays better in their first divional rivalry game will determine, most likely, the outcome.

Hope the weather holds off more for the fans than the players, they will line up and play irregardless.

Don't fret dudes, what will be will be.

    :bang

  10. How about the guy who randomly runs around giving high 5's to everyone in the Bar despite the fact that he doesn't know any of them?

Wait, that was me. Sorry. But in my defense that Field Goal was 57 yards out and I have been told it was pretty important.............................................I'll just go to my room now.

I think that's perfectly fine. Hell at the stadium my wife and I were hugging eachother and people around us we didn't even know. (Except for the CU fan who just sat there like someone killed his puppy.)

  11. There are two people I know that drive me crazy when they do this. When Nebraska may not be moving the ball as well as they would like they'll say "Jesus, we should've kept Callahan". My dad said that a lot last year, but this year he's coming around.

Also my college roommate, who until then (2006) didn't watch football because he's from Guatemala, will say things if Zac Lee comes out that Cody Green can't be good because he's black, and black guys aren't good quarterbacks. So then I have to tell him that the best college quarterback of all-time, Tommie Frazier, was black. So then he goes and every time Zac Lee throws an incompletion, he texts me that we need to put Cody Green in, because he's better. It's kind of aggravating.

Either that, or when I watch games with my in-laws, they turn the sound off and listen to the radio, because the "tv announcers are biased". I don't have a problem with that, except that there's a tape delay on the tv, so you hear everything before you see it.

  12. I'd certainly be more aware of breasts in general, if girls went to the game topless! The players or fans wearing pink would be ok with me. I'm for it!

I'm a female Husker fan and think your reply is classless.

    :yeah

On the classless part, not being a female.

  13. Front: I though I saw Suh get a puddy tat.

Back: He did! Suh did get a puddy tat.

Nah, that's a shirt that should be saved for K-State.

cut him some slack. He can use it for both, we are in a recession... ;)

    Haha, now there's some thinkin'.
