His brother playing for the Browns ... ya, that's it.  :-)

I realize this is in jest, but David Njoku really came on at the end of the season (as most Browns did). Once he got over the drops, he's turning into a great tight end. If Charles is in the same mold, sign me up!

    Ditto.

It's a comment on the human condition. We can have what we want, but we never know when we have it, because we are always searching for it.

  3. While I don't think he's funny, I don't think he's crazy either. He's just going for the football version of Domingo Ayala.

Problem is you can't force Domingo’s style of humor; it's God-given.

People always say this, and they say basketball can be good for footwork. Fact is, just b/c hes a wrestler or basketball player, even if they are good at them, doesnt mean he will be a good olineman. If that was the case, there would be a lot of good olineman walking around everywhere. We've gotten a few linemen over the last few years that were good wrestlers or bball players and we havent had an even slightly good lineman for awhile.

Imagine what our players would be like if they weren’t multi-sport athletes!

Brief update this morning. Apparently the mortgage firm his mom works for has a branch in Lincoln so he made it sound like she could move to Lincoln and have a job. He was also asked if he was a Sun Devil fan growing up. His response: "growing up they had Todd Graham, so I didn't really like the program that much."

He did not secretly sign with a school in December.

So that’s why Ms. Suckstorf has been tweeting so much about him. Sounds like she was there to recruit Mama too.

Creepy that Nate Clouse chooses to use a nickname Javin's dad has for him.

Edit: Apparently, it is just his nickname. Thanks, Dilly Dilly.

Had it actually been just his dad’s nickname, that would be creepy indeed. If anyone calls me “Tiger” or “Brogsie Baby”, my skin will crawl.

I think it means that they think Nebraska is the 19th best team right now. Which we could be, but there's no way to actually know that or even believe it that makes any sense. There's nothing to support such an idea. Where we end up at the end of the season is a completely different thing, because that factors in progress and momentum and a body of work. This factors in blind hypothetical potential.

Or it means something completely ambiguous and arbitrary and inconsistent and is really meaningless for anything other than driving clicks and ad conversion rates.

Likewise, there’s no way to know Nebraska isn’t the 19th best team in the country heading into week one.

I’ve always took it as magazines and other publications’ polls are where they’ll end up; AP and Coaches poll are where they think they are heading into week one.

The timing of the CFP rankings makes the most sense. Why take a shot in the dark when you can just wait to see the teams play? Of course they could figure out how to actually vote logically, but that’s an entirely different matter.

His measurements came in as 5-10 165 which is a lot different from what was originally said as 6’2 180. Thinking he will be a CB in college instead of safety. Huffman is thinking it’s between us and ASU. Still set to announce Jan 19.

I really dont know where this kid will end up, but if he comes in as a CB for us that will be huge for that rotation.

Four inches off?! Heck, if people can pull it off, I’m gonna start claiming an extra four inches too.

I wasn't considering just the games against other P5 teams last year at this time so the 2017 percentiles below are calculated with respect to bowl and playoff games as well (because that snapshot in time wasn't available via cfbstats.com).  That's not the most disappointing thing I discovered for that site, though.  I was hoping to do a comparison of NU stats for November only but you can't use two filters (so those stats would include the SEC cupcake games played the weekend before last).  Why should anything having to do with college football be perfect, though, aside from the 1995 squad's championship run?

    PASSING DEFENSE

completions per game: 24th in 2018 versus 65th in 2017

    percentage: 76th versus 14th

touchdowns per game: 61st versus 47th

    rating: 72nd versus 18th

Avg. percentile ratings for this category: 55 (2018) to 39 (2017)

Lastly, I calculated the average percentile rating for all the stats in all nine categories above.  The 2018 result was 50 to 2017's 34.  Average stats means the team has shown progress even if the record doesn't show it.  GBR!

Im hella tired so maybe my brain isn’t functioning well enough, but how is 50th better than 34th?

EDIT: I didn’t see it was percentile. Never mind!!

I agree 100% that Frost is better than Les and that Nebraska is way better off than Kansas but Les used to be able to recruit. Just don’t want him being Wilson from Tim The Tool Man looking over our fence nosing into our targets seeing what we’re up to.

Nebraska without frazier would have still been a top 5 team.  Osu without George would have had 3 more losses.  George had better stats.  I think the heisman should be about the most valuable player and I think you could argue George was that guy that year.

Except the Heisman isn’t for the most valuable player; it’s for the most outstanding player.

I'm on my phone, I have no control over what my phone does!  I also agree that you could make an argue for both, it seems like people on this board thinks there was a huge gap between the two.  I'm still saying 1a and 1b.

Well, I guess we’re lucky your phone went to HuskerBoard and not Eleven Warriors.

Suh should have won the heisman that year but I feel like there's too much kool aid drinking with Frazier.  George had 2400 total yards compared to Frazier's 1976 total yards.  Are you saying Frazier should have won it because he was on the most dominant team(the best team in college football history I might add).

1,976 total yards without playing in the second half of most games.

I remember buying NCAA Football 2002 and wondering why they had a LB as the kick returner. Dude was an athlete, too bad he couldn't keep everything else together.

For this class, I really like Myles Farmer and Jackson Hannah. Farmer just hits people, and Hannah might be a stretch to say 'not highly regarded,' but he is only a 3 star and I think he'll dramatically outperform the regular 3 star expectations.

Any time I would house a kickoff (which was like every other time) against my brother, I would just yell ”Randy Stella is a Stella playa!” Fun times.
