  1. Joe Ganz and Todd Peterson stick out to me.

Ganz wasn’t rated too high and he did quite well. I was harping him up all the time. When he got playing time in the spring game the people in front of us started to get annoyed by how much I was yelling “atta boy, Joey!!”.

I can’t toot my own horn too much though. Tyrell Spain and Marcus Mendoza are two dudes I kept telling everyone who would listen that they were gonna light it up if they saw the field, but they didn’t.

Aaron Green is the big name for me among the highly regarded recruits who didn’t pan out. We all followed him from like his freshman season in high school and he had a pretty big following before stepping foot in a classroom.

Others off the top of my head: Curt Dukes, Paul Thurston, Jared Afalava (although he wasn’t too bad when he actually played), Cody Green, Kenny Wilson (that darned tv!), Chris Septak.

Then there’s the baseball trio of Bubba Starling, Monte Harrison, and Carl Crawford.

I’m obviously a negative Nancy since I remember a lot more busts.

I'm a bit surprised you haven't heard of it as you're obviously a fan of college football.  Do you only pay attention to Nebraska and generally shun all forms of media?  No snark intended, genuinely curious.

I follow college football a fair amount, just don't give much of a rip about Iowa unless we are competing with them.

My social media feeds are usually all politics (thanks, Facebook) or mostly Husker news sources (seriously, thank you, Twitter).

It could just be the nature of the OP to tell tales. Dick lies or dick lies......just sayin'.

Yes, it’s true. This man has no... truths.

If that’s what passes as thug-like these days, then I guess my junior high basketball team in a central Nebraska town of 650 people was composed entirely of thugs. No wonder we were able to win that tournament in Loomis!

It was largely our defense.  The offense did a few things well, but the defense kept getting them the ball in advantageous positions.  Can't forget special teams, too, as Demetrius Douglas made a nice punt return for TD.

For only the second time all year, the Gophers were hitting on all cylinders today - the Purdue game being the other time.

I think it'll be a three-way race for the division title in 2019 - Nebraska, Northwestern, and Minnesota.  How about that!

Lastly, the best WR in the B1G is Tyler Johnson and JD Spielman is #2.  It'll be fun to see how that shakes out next season.

I’d say Rondale Moore is the best footballer with a wide receiver designation. But I wouldn’t say he’s the best wide receiver.

When Pelini started the offense still cared. When Frost started he had to teach the players not to quit.

    FIFY

That 2007 defense, especially the back seven, had just as much quit in them as the 2017 defense.

I'm hoping to see improvement next year and the schedule appears to be more favorable but a lock for a preseason top 25? Not sure how that is realistic, especially losing Divine & Stanley on O and seeing the D struggle like they did most of the year. They need upgrades at more positions than you can count. Not to mention, as improved as they were, they still ended up 4-8. I'd have a hard time even thinking about ranking them top 25 preseason.

I would be more surprised if we weren’t pre-season top 25.

This is the lowest scoring game Nebraska game I’ve witnessed.

Nebraska 7 Colorado 0 back in ‘88 was the previous lowest scoring game I’ve seen.

So this wasn't the lowest scoring game you've witnessed.

  8. Personally, I think Northwestern is our rival. Not only because the games have been close, but they still claim to be NU when clearly they are NW and we are NU.

Also, the two teams  could play each year for the rites to wear an ’N’ on the helmets the next time they meet. Eff stupid corporate trophies; play for the N on your helmet.

  9. The 73-yarder certainly helps the average a little bit. Without it, he is averaging 43.6. I don't think we should ignore it, but it definitely skews the numbers a little bit.

What's wild is it could’ve been quite a bit longer, maybe even a school record. Flipping the field like that is exactly what we should want in a punter. The inconsistency though...

Either way, I'm a bit puzzled by the offer. The coaches know better than me!

  10. I voted QB3, but in retrospect, they seem pretty Tyrod Taylor-like. As a Browns fan, that disturbs me.

I’m switching to QB1. I’d like to know how many times each QB was sacked (to account for rushing yards), QB hurries, and how many fumbles; but as it stands, the turnovers concern me the most.

  11. The last few years I’ve compared him to Curtis Martin; not flashy, but he’ll get the yards you need. When he won the rushing title, Martin didn’t even have a single run of over 25 yards. Good ol’ Mr. Consistency.

Now it’s like Curtis Martin absorbed Emmitt Smith’s top gear.
