I agree but I think our run game (blocking/line play) is going to have to improve greatly (like they have not shown yet) and MSU run D is going to have to be a little off. This looks to be one of those games where our passing is going to have to open up the run game instead of the other way around.

The cool thing is that we have the passing game that can do this, and throw in Adrian's ability to scramble, we may pull this off.  FYI- I would rather have a strong running game.  :)

  2. If you would have told me after the Illinois game, that I would be changing my mind on Martinez coming back next year, I would have said your f#&%ing crazy, he needs to be gone.  But here we are, and I want him to come back next year.  :)

  3. Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Rhamir Johnson on his play against Oklahoma!  I thought he had some potential, but he seemed to run timed at times.  He proved me wrong, well done sir.  I still think that Gabe (sucks he got hurt), has the most upside, but excited to see how Rhamir progresses the rest of the season. Regarding the rest of the RB's, going to have to see, odd Stepp didn't get a snap.

  4. Like many of you I don't see how we win this game, not saying there is not a chance, but I don't see it.  I will say this though, within the last 10 plus years, hell maybe longer, we have had to endure that possibility of getting 60-70 points rolled up on us by elite teams.  With that being said, this is probably the first time in a long time that I feel our defense is strong enough to keep us in the game.

These guys need a legit Randy Gregory type pass rusher (or two) to be competitive playing anyone with a pulse

It's pretty amazing how we never even get on one of these type of players final list, let alone get one to commit.  Athletic Defensive Ends are pretty much a unicorn in Nebraska, which blows.   I know we have beat this subject into the ground on the board, but for some reason I decided to say it again.  :)

Makes sense that they would feel that way and use that for motivation.  I always found it interesting and depressing watching us play the likes of Northern Illinois and South Alabama and seeing that they have multiple players that look more athletic than our starters.  Especially at Defensive End and Wide Receiver.

I'd like to see more Yant even if it is situational. In the little we've seen him he appears to the hardest runner and hardest to bring down.

He is, but his plays where very basic, and if he comes in and misses a block his a$$ will be back on the bench.  With that said, he is a big boy.

I'm first looking at whether Frost makes Stepp the starting back. He is in my opinion better than the rest of the pack.

If we trample them in our base rushing game and play error-free, it will probably make me feel much more confident about making a bowl game.

But have to just pause there and comment on how said it is in Frost's fourth year to have any sense of not feeling good about making a bowl game. Oy...

I agree, Irvin physically looks the part but Stepp is performing better.  Usually you can see running back talent right when he gets the ball, and I understand that the line has been spotty, but none of these backs are standing out to me.  I hope someone proves me wrong.

  9. I quickly watched this game on youtube.  ULM is pretty bad, but Kentucky appears to have some good skill talent.  I would say better than Nebraskas, but its pretty early.  Wandale fits in nicely, they were able to use him when needed and he delivered.  I would of thought he would have been used exactly the same here this year, but last year was such a s#!t show its hard to blame him for not wanting to go back home.  Tourac is a nice player and I am glad to have him, but Wandale in space is just special.

    Because everyone else sucked

Kinda, but there where plenty of times when other receivers where wide freekn open.  It was obviously a combination of bad QB play, average running backs and inconsistent line play, but WanDale got his touches, which was good and bad.

I went back and watched games again from last year...Wandale will be missed. Too bad he couldn't hang on to another year where he would have fit in better with the taller WRs and TEs. Less focus on him.

It sucks that he left, but I wont miss the fact that he seemed the only one that was thrown to 90% of the time.

I thought Washington and Mills looked like a very Nebraska-worthy rushing attack. Even if they were getting yards on flare passes, it felt like part of the running game and a genuinely dangerous Frost offense.

But when your quarterbacks become more effective runners than passers, the RBs don't get the touches -- and neither do the wide-receivers.

I still think Nebraska will be a better rushing team when the quarterback is a better passer. I miss having a featured running back.

I so agree with you on this, excluding Martinez's freshman year.  It appeared he was going to be the rare QB who can do both well, and then of course his sophomore year happened.

I wouldn't have that attitude about 4 stars when the school has an attitude about players with less stars. My son is looking at going to USD on basketball scholarship, but would have been interested in going to Nebraska as a walk on. Can't have it both ways.

I wish your son the best of luck, but I don't understand what your statement has to do with what I wrote.

  14. Am I the only one that just doesn't give a s#!t anymore on what a 4 start demands are and if we get them or not?  I mean I want him to come to NU, but I am just so jaded on what we seem to have to do/promise to get some of these guys. Its easy for Alabama and Clemson types to navigate these water, because they have 50 plus four stars sitting there competing.  Ok, I am done b!^@hing now.  :)

    Let me add to that

O is "give me the damn ball", but only to showcase how my skill will translate to the NFL and dont let me get hit to many times.
