  1. But my favorite quote from the interview was when he was talking about how he does not like the current recruiting process with "commitments" that are non-binding. He said to understand what a commitment means you need to think about breakfast - "the chicken makes a contribution, but the pig makes a commitment." Classic.

I hope Bo uses this. It reminds me of his "point the thumb not the finger" and other "no bulls---" catch phrases and philosophies.

  2. I hate to break it to ya, but Jeremy Crabtree changed his prediction from NU to UCLA this morning on Rivals.

There are now 2 analysts saying Owa is UCLA and 3 saying he is NU... there was originally 1 UCLA and 4 NU... things seem to be leaning towards UCLA in these final days.

Ug...I just heard about this too. I just want to get this over with already. Come on N, Owa.

  3. knapplc - how about this?

Here's how it'll go down. OO will blow by the fat Tackle lined up in front of him, throw a swim move on the RB held in to protect, and flatten the QB Brion Carnes before he's finished his seven-step drop.

    <_<

  4. ^^Yeah he did not sound confident about David coming here.

Yeah...sometimes I think these recruiting guys are biased towards telling the good news to the 'home team' guys they are talking to. If that bias normally exists...it didn't a few minutes ago.

  5. the BIGGEST quote of the article from rivals said something along the lines, directly from Owa's mouth...

"LOCATION IS NO LONGER A FACTOR IN MY DECISION..."

    That's good news.

What else is there that could hurt/help Nebraska's chances? Academics? I might give the nudge to UCLA for overall academic prestige, but NU has the specific program he wants. Not sure about OSU academically.

All three are putting together some stacked defensive classes. Whether he fears competition or not, neither school shows a major advantage there.

It seems as if NU has had significantly more recent success than the other two, especially on the defensive side of the ball. In fact, I'd say that NU appears to be more "up and coming" than the other two as well, as far as how competitive they will be during Owa's tenure.

Coaches? I'm biased, but the Brothers Pelini are something special, and have turned a terrible defense into an amazing one very quickly and with a lot of the same 2007 kids. I can't wait to see how they look with Pelini's recruits.

I could go on, but the choice is obvious to us, isn't it?

  6. We still have a shot at Carnes, albeit probably a small one, but it's still a shot.

The :koolaid2: in me says there is still an extremely small chance...("I don't believe it until I see it on Rivals!")...but I am in the stage now where I am burning all the mix tapes I made for him and scratching his face out on all of our pictures. In fact, tonight I might text Simek with a "how YOU doin?" (Not really, NCAA).

If Owa isn't N, however, that's a different story. I'll be standing beneath his bedroom window with a boom box over my head in the middle of the night.

  7. The thing about that is, I don't think the insiders mind if they reach a consensus on a big high profile recruit like this, then all get it wrong. Then it's a "Decision Day Stunner" and it's big news and something to be talked about.

It's the random gems that come from left field they probably relish being right on more.

Yeah, you make a great point. They don't mind that at all, because then it's like "no one saw that coming?!"

The expectations are getting too high....we all thought Carnes was N a few days ago and that didn't even pan out. I don't like surprises!

  8. True on the alphabetical list, but you'd think if he did commit they'd have him listed as one. I guess we'll see what happens.

Yeah - that's the strange part about all this. Did Carnes lose his phone or something? Just get it over with and announce your decision so we can get back to the Owa thread!

  9. For what it's worth, Rivals says on Carnes' profile that he is not committed anywhere, but has Nebraska (high) and WKU (high). NU is listed first.

I might be wrong, but I think for each "level" of interest (High/Med/Low/None) they are listed alphabetically. Note the "Lows" and "Nones" for Carnes are alphabetical as well.

Hey, no matter what, good luck to the kid. The fact that it is much closer, he has personal ties to WKU and there is the possibility of being a starter right away make his choice understandable. Either way, he'll be in Memorial in Sept., and if he's a Hilltopper...he's gonna get Crick-Rolled.

  10. *** :sarcasm ALERT *** (just in case)

Folks, I think I've received a sign that Owa will be N.

My school just updated their email server, and when I logged in, this was the new address for my inbox:

    post-7093-126480779876.jpg

I check email as compulsively as I check the Owa thread, so if that's not a sign that Owa's N then I don't know what is.

  11. but the t-shirts will still cost you

FACT: If we would've had Owa shirts at the time of his visit, and people wore them to the game, he would have committed by now.

    Or filed a restraining order.

    Edits: I type too fast

  12. :rant

I have ONE CLASS A WEEK this semester, and it is on Wednesday from 1 to 3:30 pm. It is a discussion-based class with 6 other people in it. There is no way I'll be able to watch Owa's decision live, and the soonest I will get to know is probably when class is over. After all I've devoted to post-7093-126469324785.gif Watch 2009-2010 I won't even get to see the ending live! :steam :steam :steam

  13. Time to get my double post on, since I am awake and alert.

Since just about every Nebraska recruiting story is now about "The Big 3" that are left, and essentially all three are usually mentioned in the same sentence now, do you think either Owa or Cooper are following what the other is doing? In sort of a "if he's N, I'm N" type of a thing?

One would assume they know about each other, and they probably know that if they both end up N, our defensive class will be extremely stacked. It'd be nice if they contacted each other and said "hey you wanna be a part of something awesome?"

Oh well, one can hope... :koolaid2:

  14. (per rivals)According to Fajardo, rated No. 35 at his position by Rivals.com, the Cornhuskers are close to landing a commitment from another quarterback which means there won't be room for him.

"I don't think that's going to go through anymore," Fajardo said of his Nebraska trip. "They're close to signing that other kid. I told (the Nebraska coaches) I have other options and I don't want to be waiting and hoping."

Does this mean that he and the coaches think Cranes (j/k) is essentially N??

Or is Fajardo just seeing that he's the second option and he's getting out while he still has some time to check other places out (and he's assuming Carnes is N just because we've been recruiting Carnes the hardest?)
