Due to possession of the ball being out of bounds, the kick off was considered kicked out of bounds which results in it being placed at the 35 yard line in college and I believe the 40 in the NFL.
Thanks, was not aware that was how it is ruled.

I guess he didn’t say “year one”. But he said it beforeThe season last year. I’m not sure that makes that comment any better at all.
Gosh guys let's back off him just a bit. Why just last week we had the whistle blower present 2nd hand info and Pelosi and Shiff never questioned it what the heard or read.
Okay, enough of the political garbage on this site.

It is to the point that almost all teams are going to fair catch inside the 10 or better yet take a touch-back for the kicks that enter the endzone.
I hope we continue in the near future of either downing anything in the end zone or fair catching anything inside the 10.
Reason- first kickoff last night we bring it out of the end zone, he is tackled inside the 20 and oh hell yes we also have a penalty and start at our 9 yardline!
Maybe when we get the special teams going we can try to return some but not in the near future.

Any collegiate refs on this site? I really would like an answer for why when our kickoff died at the 3 that the Illini player ran up towards the ball and layed out of bounds and then touched the ball. Why was that spotted at the 35? The kickoff was inbounds, he chose to go OB and then recover. I understand if it is spotted at the 25 but not the 35.
Still hoping I get an official ruling on this.
thanks

First asking about the Martinez pass that was ruled a fumble after the safety dropped it. They reviewed the play and gave it to Illni at the 14. Was that play not blown dead prior to Illii picking it up? Could not hear the whistles on TV of course. Announcers mentioned a whistle but never confirmed anything. An inadvertent whistle should had us replay the down, well at least that would have been the ruling years back.
Next question: the kickoff of ours that was inbounds and died at the 3. Their player went around sprawled the sideline and recovered with most of his body out of bounds. Okay, I guess you can give yourself up if you field it inside the 10. So why would they get the ball at the 35 and not the 25. This ruling seemed about as horrible as anything I have seen in years. New rule?
Lastly something that was missed was JD catching a pass and running up the sideline when the safety clearly hit him helmet to helmet on the sideline. Why was targeting not called?? Can Frost asked that they take a look? Can the booth official call down to head official and state they want to review this hit?
Been a few years since i was a referee so I know rules change a lot but trying to get up to speed with these.
thanks

As you either watch in person or on TV the crowds when home teams are NOT playing are atrocious!
Why not let folks in free or with $1 tickets? You can at least generate some folks to come watch the games.
You still get the parking fees, concessions and such.
WIth no one their you are making nothing and have to be losing money, make it a fun atomsphere. Maybe after a couple of years of this you can start raising the admission.
Helps out the bars and restaurants in North downtown as well.
Nothing worse that watching a football bowl game or baseball conference tournament with so many empty seats.

Gomes needs to work with a good hitting coach this summer. Has been good in the field and in relief, but every time he comes to the plate I cringe. dude can't hit his weight.
Thoughts I shared at the game with the wife. He is a good enough ball player to get some hits.
Whole team has had trouble hitting this season, not sure anyone who is a regular is hitting above .300.
Lots of work for the batting coach in the off-season.
Crowd was unbelievable today!!!!!!

CBS Sports' Bottom 25 puts Nebraska at #3. Their author admits this week's Bottom 25 is odd because, for the first time in their rankings' history, a team with a win is #1 (UConn), over many winless teams, including Nebraska, UTEP, Bowling Green, San Jose State. That's a lofty set of accomplices but at least Nebraska's got plenty of sure-fire wins ahead.
247Sports is listing the Ten Most Disappointing Teams of the season and so many are with first-year coaches, like Scott Frost's version of Nebraska Football.
But we'll get to see Nebraska's second half of the season and there's plenty of reason for optimism: Bethune-Cookman's on the horizon. There's always Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois, Mich State, Iowa. Plenty of easy wins for Scott Frost to start collecting. Nebraska's not going to stay #3 or #9 for long.
I quote "sure fire wins" and "plenty of easy wins" sorry I hope you right but I do worry. Please don't post this on any of our opponents sites?

I just don't like the 11 am start time for our guys! We are very slow starting and the early time may make it worse.
I am really wanting a victory in this game and hopefully the guys come thru!

Cam and Maurice look really good when they get the chance, hopefully they get more chances in the near future. Thought Frost used Washington really well tonight. Both have lots of talent!

our passing game is looking better, much improved tonight. I think if we can go to Northwestern and play error free we can win that game. I think we can win 4 games this season. Maybe a pipe dream but you gotta believe in them!

you can call holding any damn play you want! So, it seems BS that we seem to get called much more. the block in the back called on Foster was bad bad bad. The illegal block on the punt return was pure BS. I have long thought the Big 10 is going to make us be the much better team when it comes to penalties! We get screwed alot.

He officially retired! Knees like a 70 year old,. Sad

This doesn’t affect my thoughts at all. There are a few things I think I know;
1- Frost is the best guy and maybe the only guy that can get this deal turned around.
2- Correcting 15 years of culture destruction, especially these last 4 years, is not and never was going to be a quick or easy job.
3- His job is not in jeopardy, this year or next year, no matter the results, so it is a complete waste of energy to get too wound up over disappointing results before 2020.
4- We still have some serious bumps in the road to experience.
4- We’ll get there when we get there. Like Scott, I know where this thing is headed. No doubt in my mind.
All we can do as fans is to grin and bear it until things do start to take off. Hope for the best and expect the worst would still seem prudent. I plan to stay engaged and positive so I am there to witness the transformation because it will be something to see.
My thoughts exactly! I can not believe how many so called "fans" are already dissing Frost and this team. This did not happen overnight and it will not change overnight. Did many folks think this was just going to be "wave a wand" and it is fixed? We have the best man for the job now, how bout' we give him and his coaches some time for this.

The kids seem to like the Adidas apparel better than Nike or UA. Nike is struggling to keep all their schools signed. UA seems to have some s#!t for apparel. I am glad we are with Adidas and our contract is probably about where we should be in comparsion.

Enunwa is the better pro player, did not use him enough at NU
Purify was the better college WR, just throw it up and he would go get it!

florida is no longer interested in chip kelly, and its been rumored that scott frost is #1 on florida,s search....there are also other teams looking for coaches, tenneesee, old miss...proably all 3 of those schools have better chances recruitng than nu....who knows what is going to happen, but if my crystal ball is correct...frost will go to florida...its sort of bad for nu , because of the # of schools looking for coaches...riley has not been fired, but i suspect he will be...florida would probably be scott frost quickest way to a national championship..the past gators coach could not get the talent ..
As I posted on another board, supposedly Frost advisor was meeting with Florida this weekend. I think he is only getting some leverage by talking to FLorida. Frost WILL NOT go to Florida! Rumors in the past hour have Florida pursuing Dan Mullen from Miss ST. if true tells me Frost told Florida NO.

If we supposedly did not know how to tackle prior to his arrival, what has he done to correct it? How many times have we seen our corners and safeties just try to knock bigger receivers down without wrapping them up? Any ball caught in our secondary can go all the way with the style of tackling we use. Josh Kalu may be the best/worst example of this. I never see him wrap anyone up. We seem to lack so many of the obvious elements to a good defense. Hate to see the guy gone in 1 year. You can say lack of talent when he arrived but even lesser talent can learn to wrap people up when their is contact.

Just to add some insult to Husker fans the VB team loses to Northern Iowa today! Ouch

Don't understand why Ozigbo got very little time today. When he goes in and does run it he is pumped up and so is the crowd. Nope, Langs let's him run it one more time and out he goes.Wilbon does not pas block well and he just does not seem to have the "it" factor. Power running for much of the second half would have been nice. TIght End play has been poor so far this season, you gotta catch the ball. How bout keeping a RB in to help the freshman tackle in pass blocking?
Come on guys, let's get this thing turned around!
-
Finally, it appeared on a few plays late in the game Ozigbo did stay into help Gates block. I also wondered where the help was, it was pretty obvious early on Nick was not going to block him 1 on 1.

I am one of the few that think Eichorst is doing Okay. He is trying to lead all of our sports to higher ground. He has brought people on staff to help improve things. Hopefully it works out, I just despise firing anyone. Leaves a huge bruise on the program.
-
Offense- Cethan Carter, he has been injured much of this year but we have yet to use him properly. Possibly catch 6 passes and get a couple of TD's
Defense- Dedrick Young needs to find last years motivation and hopefully pick up his play in this game. Josh Kalu, think he will make some plays
Go HUSKERS!
Punting appearing to be an issue as well

The kickoffs and place kicking have been a really BIG problem this year. But, maybe I need to place the punting in that category as well. We punted last night 5 times for a 35 yard average. They punted once for 59 yards! Damn that is a 24 yard advance on us. He appears to be punting everything low and short! Most punter follow thru the kicking leg goes to head level or above. Watching Armstrong punt he has no follow thru whatsoever.
The little things get you beat and we have lots of little things on the kicking game
