  1. The whining about the clock conspiracy is getting sad. Nebraska fans are better than that, especially considering that they were given 1 second back on the clock in the 1994 Orangebowl.

Nebraska has 1 second put on clock in 1994 Orangebowl

Bury, I enjoy hearing your perspective and the perspective of other non-Husker fans on this board when it comes to analysis of games, players, etc. But why criticize us? You won and get to go to the National Championship. Why does our fans' heartache (and conspiracy theories that go along with it), really bother you enough to post a whole topic about it?

You choose to join and post on another team's website. Another team that is fresh off a very upsetting and close game. There are a ton of people on this forum that have congratulated you, wished you luck, encouraged others to root for your team in the NC, and have expressed the "clock issue" is utter nonsense. Why is whatever point you're trying to make so important? You already won. Just leave it alone and bask in your glory.

This was only meant for people still whining about it. No disrespect meant for all others. On some TEXAS boards, we have a few so-called NU fans that are posting non-stop about the conspiracy. Most good teams have been on both sides of these games, weird officiating calls, etc. The Huskers will be a force if they can get some offense.

  2. all of husker nation. i call for us to all boycott the game. the bcs picked it and we all need to send a message.

please stand with me husker nation

All I can say is that ou blames everything on the refs and never really look at the entire game and the mistakes and missed opportunities. This boycott reminds me of that mentality. I've always thought NU fans were the opposite of this and are classy as well as give props to the other teams. NU deserved to be in that game, they proved it and considering they had no offense, they almost pulled it off. They played a near perfect game and if it wasn't for the 2 mistakes in the final TEXAS possession (kickoff and horse collar), you'd have won the game. The 1 second thing was not a conspiracy. If you listen to National sportsradio shows (Rome, etc) - they are all saying that there was a second left. It sucks - I know - it happened to us last year at TT. NU should walk with their heads high - I feel NU is back and I will be rooting for you in your bowl game.

  3. The Texas loss will without a doubt sting for quite a while. This game however to me was a huge statement game by the staff and players. Look what this team in their second year of a complete overhaul has done. Before the season had begun, just about all fans had figured that we were going to lose against Oklahoma and to Texas (or Oklahoma again) IF we had gotten to the Big12 championship game. Not only does this team know that they can play against the upper echelon of teams. They know that they can also beat them. Say what you will about Oklahoma and the Bradford and Gresham injuries. Texas seemed to have their 4 year starter in on Saturday and he did not look so good against us. I only see Nebraska as a whole getting better with this coaching staff in place in the future. If I were Texas, I would be pretty nervous about facing Nebraska in the future.

As a TEXAS fan, I completely agree with you. I was thinking at the end of the game, that if NU can somehow figure out an offense, they should be very good in the coming years.

I feel for you guys. That was a tough loss. Last year when we lost to TT on the very last second, it took a long time to get over. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm over it. You guys played great and deserved a spot in that game. Good luck in the future, just don't get too good.

  4. Mr. Bury, thanks for your classy comments, well appreciated, it was a hell of a game. One honest question tho pertaining to this being "your" year. After witnessing this tonight, do you think your team really, and thnk before you answer, has what it takes to beat a "PHYSICAL" team in Bama that DOES have an offense?

Texas was seriously exposed tonight, and so was the rest of the Big 12 as it has turned into a conference of pretty boy offense, lack of defense, high scoring pu&&y football, and with an offense as bad as ours, it's proof the Bo is bringing real man football back to the Big 12.

If Texas gets the nod for the Champ game, they have my support, I'm just afraid it might be ugly.

Who knows. That's why we play the games. I've never been one to boast about how we were going to destroy anyone. Bama looks great and balanced. TEXAS didn't look so great. I expect TEXAS's D to do very well. The offense needs to play better however. As for my comments about it being "our" year, I meant no offense - just sometimes it seems like it's one team's year if you believe in that kind of thing. As for the refs. I really disagree. sooners love to blame the refs for everything - It's not usually the NU way. I don't believe that there were any blatant blown calls, but if you do, then here's an old addage for you to chew on. Losers blame bad calls, Winners overcome them. I'm not saying that NU are losers, but blaming the refs won't get you far.

  5. How freaking awesome is this? The media picks Texas to win, a ton of College Football Fans want Nebraska to win. I hope all the Cornhuskers know how many people they have pulling for time in this one.

Yeah, probably about the same that realize now that TEXAS should've played for the NC last year instead of ou. ou embarrassed the Big12. If you get to the big dance the way ou did, then you have to win - there is no other option. They failed and it brought down the credibility of the entire conference. I'm sorry to have to tell you NU fans, but if NU wins, then the whole conference will be considered weak. NU lost to iowa state, remember. TEXAS has to win to bring back some bit of respect back to the conference.

  6. Somehow I doubt texass cares if Pierre or alfonzo or lee are fully healthy ...

Not cool. I have often said that NU has the classiest fans. However, your statement lacks class. I don't wish injuries on any of these kids.

    ~v~

    A. I don't see where this person said they hope that you or any other Texas fans wish injuries on players.

    B. If that was what this person was implying what has your fan base done collectively to make Nebraska fans think any differently?

    C. Nebraska fans are for the most part classy but honesty is a virtue I personally value a great deal. I have personally witnessed extremely bad behavior and call into question the integrity of Texas fans as a whole. There is also a very arrogant way in which most Texas fans carry themselves so forgive us if we might question weather Texas fans have the best interest of our players in mind. I'm sure there are many good natured Longhorn fans who love college football and understand that it's young kids playing ball out there who's families are watching in the stand. It's just not the impression I get from your fanbase overall. Thats honesty!

Well that makes 2 of you that lack class. I'm sure all NU fans want you 2 to represent them. Too bad you can't rise to the level of most NU fans, but instead you stoop to the same level of behavior as you are claiming is exhibited by others. Pathetic.

  8. I'm obviously not trying to start a rumor, and ill apologize if its false, but its being reported on Austin radio.

I heard the same thing on ESPNAUSTIN.com this morning. The reporter couldn't give the name of the "significant" offensive player and wasn't sure if it would be announced today or at game time. It will hurt, but we are very deep at WR. It always sucks to lose one of your best players especially with so much riding on the game. I can tell you this, if he can play, he will. Jordan Shipley is a MAN! I hope if he is hurt, he gets healthy for the bowl season. He helped get us here, he deserves to be part of the end of this great run.

  9. I say we just put a guy on UT recievers and hold them every play. When the refs throw a flag, just say, well they do it to our DL, I thought it was legal now.

Great Post and Great idea. I think you should pass this on to the NU football coaches. It will surely guarantee a win for NU.

  10. Big 12 powers that be will serve up 13-0 Longhorns to BCS Title game

BY ANDY PURVIS | Huskers Gameday Correspondent

Take the title for what it is worth.

Honestly, I don’t know why we are bothering to play the Big 12 title game next Saturday night.

The outcome is a foregone conclusion, regardless of what sort of chance Nebraska may or may not actually have on the playing field when they face the Longhorns.

    What makes me say this?

Reference an earlier article of mine, “Big 12 Office: Offensive linemen holding is ignored by Big 12 referees.”

The University of Texas with its big money, deep pocket donors runs and owns the Big 12 conference and when they don’t get their way or something doesn’t work out, like the 2008 BCS title game, they whine like a small child.

This is the sort of spoiled child behavior that we can trace all the way back to before the inception of the Big 12 conference.

When it came to policy making, establishing rules and guidelines for the conference, if the University of Texas didn’t get their way on every vote, they threatened to take their ball (all the TV viewers and dollars) and leave.

Remind me. What team needed a conference to join and who are they to dictate or make demands?

Tom Osborne was right about these people.

So, how does this relate to the outcome of the Big 12 title game?

    Back to last year.

Remember how upset and angry the University of Texas and its fans were over missing the BCS title game in 2008?

Well, the Big 12 office will be all too happy to acquiesce to the Longhorns and serve up an undefeated Big 12 team to the BCS title game.

And it’s not just about getting Texas back to the BCS Title game. This is about the Big 12 wanting to keep the conferences highest profile university with the golden boy quarterback in the national spotlight.

It’s about keeping the University of Texas in the national championship picture and Colt McCoy in the Heisman race.

It’s about the money that goes into the Big 12 coffers and the prestige of having its most high-profile team competing for the national championship.

How can the Big 12 office get this accomplished within the normal constraints of a supposedly fair football game?

Well, back to my earlier article.

You think the holding that you have witnessed Big 12 referees ignore for many years in offensive lines like Texas is something?

    You haven’t seen nothing yet.

With the University of Texas having a shot at the BCS title game being led by a quarterback in the midst of a tight Heisman Trophy race.

    Just watch.

The Texas offensive line will be able to wrangle, strangle, and go WWE on the Nebraska defensive line all night long without penalty.

Oh, and if a Nebraska defender does happen to make contact with Golden Boy, out will come a personal foul flag.

Golden Boy McCoy and his Heisman race will be protected by the Big 12 office and its team of officials. They won’t let a big, bad Cornhusker defensive line get in the way of McCoy, his Heisman, or the University of Texas getting to the BCS Title game.

What was a one step rule after the quarterback throws the ball, will suddenly be enforced to the degree that the Nebraska defense can hardly touch McCoy without drawing a personal foul flag for roughing the passer.

Those type of penalties are so big because they extend drives with 15 yards and a first down. They are usually back breakers. There will be a time or two, or more, when McCoy is hit in what looks like a legal manner or barely touched, and out will come a flag.

I have seen it numerous times this year and Nebraska wasn’t playing an undefeated team and Heisman candidate quarterback.

It will happen. Count on it, and don’t count on a Nebraska victory.

^^^I think it is very pessimistic, but it does raise some serious questions. I guarantee there will be at least 2 unwarranted flags thrown on late hits on McCoy. And our DLINE has been held all year, and I don't see that getting any better on Saturday.

I still think if we can put together a game plan like we had against VTECH this year and TECH last year that we have a shot. Obviously we would need to finish unlike we did in those two games. We are due for a big upset like this one could be.

Hypocrisy is pervasive in this article. The article, itself, takes a whining, "it's not fair," attitude. I'm a Longhorn fan and can honestly say that most Longhorn fans greatly respect Nebraska and their fans. Your fans have the most class in the conference - noone else is even close. That being said, this article does not represent what my experience has been with regard to Nebraska fans.

Holding is allowed to some degree in the conference from what I've seen and TEXAS is not the protected team in the conference. If they were, they would have called the numerous calls in the TT - TEXAS game last year; one of which injured Orakpo (considered one of the top defensive players in CF) and he didn't play the 2nd half of the the game. If TEXAS was protected, they would have made the calls, I would have spent a lot less time screaming at the TV and TEXAS would have played for the NC. As for Mack's lobbying, whining, or whatever you want to call it at the end of last year, I ask everyone to honestly ask themselves if they would have done the same thing for their team. It is the obligation of the coach to try and get his team in the NC if he has the chance. Our coach lobbied for it; ou ran up the scores in games at the end of the year by leaving their starters in even when other teams had removed theirs. We each took a path, it just so happens that stoops' strategy swayed the BCS voters more.

I expect that Nebraska will give us a good game and it would hurt bad to lose. But, if this unfortunate event were to occur, then Nebraska would be the one team in the conference that I'd give props to. Have a great game, but not too good.
