  1. I was looking at next year and i only count 5 games that we should win. The rest are losses and tossups.

Im all for predictions but that statement just doesnt sit riggt with me. Please explain what are the garaunteed losses.

i'm not guaranteeing any losses just that we have no consistency with our team and how it plays. It makes it harder to say we will win this game.

    Fresno St.- toss up

Miami - loss or toss up

    Michigan St - loss

    Northwestern - toss up

    Wisconsin - loss

    Minnesota -toss up

    Iowa - toss up

Also given the fact we play down to the other team also doesn't help. But those teams i have listed i can't sit there and say we will win confidently enough until we start proving it on the field.

  2. I convinced myself last year we would lose no more than 3 games. Iowa really hurt to attend. But here I am again thinking there is no way we lose 4 in 2014. I think we can beat Miami for sure. Out of MSU and Wiscy we lose one win one. Revenge against Minnysoda. Continuance of breaking purplecat hearts. Pummel the rest the OOC cans. Beat up Purdue pretty badly. Hell we should throttle Illinois too. Iowa wont see us coming, plus they always have bare cupboards by years end. I see at most two losses but if we tighten up 11-1.

Fresno State, Miami, Iowa, MSU, and Wisconsin are all possible if not probable losses.

    lololololololol....

what' so funny about that? were you laughing after we almost lost to Wyoming and Northwestern or how bout Minnesota and Iowa losses?

Every team knows they can't take Northwestern for granted, and while Minnesota is a poor loss they're not the Minnesota everyone knew for the past decade. Wyoming is what it is, we didn't lose. We had a young team and an injured QB.

The only reason we lost to Minnesota cause Bo kept Taylor in the game. He should've been replaced when he wasn't right and was detrimental to the team. Wyoming we almost lost. We had a huge lead and then bam Taylor throws an interception and we are now sweating out Wyoming who we had down and out. Yes Northwestern can't take for granted but it was a hailmary that saved us and only get's executed 1-5% of the time. Taylor playing hurt was on Bo and the fact we had backups with no experience or little is also on Bo. i'm tired of the excuses, let's just say we lost and i'm fine with that.

  4. If Bo is successful in winning a league title this season and a "higher" profile gig comes calling does he answer the call? Meanwhile should Nebraska finish 8-5 or worse does he even have a shred of hope for being retained?

If Bo can start closing the gap on the losses against high profile schools he has a chance to be here. We are all waiting for him to turn the corner the question is: can he?

I think he already has. Only blowout we had this past season was UCLA.

well our schedule was weak as far as playing the good teams unlike our first two years. UCLA was the only team OOC and MSU the one good one in conference. 1 year of just getting blown out once on a weak schedule and then we lose to teams we haven't lost in while balances it out. If we had to play Wisconsin and Ohio St and those games were close i might agree. Hell even if Michigan was good before they started their slide downhill would be another good win.

You just can't ever be happy can you?

yes i can be happy. But there was no meat on our schedule last year. It's about the same as this coming up year too. New division sucks. Besides Wisconsin who else is in our division that would be considered stable and not have an up and down year? Take a look at the other division. Ohio St, Michigan, Michigan St, and when they get off sanctions Penn St. That's four solid teams. Hell if Rutgers does good that makes it five deep just in that division. Looking at the past soft schedules haven't helped us in getting a conference championship.

  7. If we finish 3rd in the west, I predict it will be Bo's last season at NU. This would probably mean another 4 loss season (or 3 L at the best). Year 7 and this is the best we can expect! :dunno Bo proclaimed that he came here 'to win championships'. :restore2 And later after the Arizona win that "Nebraska is Back" .

We can't be nationally relevant as 3rd in a division unless you are playing the spoiler role.

Personally, I'd like to think our talent level is better than this. I think the QB situation will be better than expected, RB and receivers are tops in Big 10 and the D has improved. But, I don't see what is happening wt the other teams and perhaps the sports writer based his view on how the other big 10 teams are improving.

If we finish this low, it is time for a fresh start as I don't see it getting better - this schedule is still relatively week - even though we travel to IOWA(oh, no when did traveling to Iowa make one fearful :ahhhhhhhh except possibly in the Hayden Fry years).

If we end up 3rd or even 2nd we have deep systematic issues that can't be addressed outside of major changes. Just my humble opinion.

If we don't see a more consistent offense this year and we keep our OC then we have a HC that really doesn't know what he is doing. We got away from the run too much. We need to run more like in 09 when we were pounding it and wearing down the defense line. there is no reason why we start off running only to end the drive with a 3 and out on passing.

  8. I don't like the Big Ten West, 11 am games, lack of night games, being paired with Iowa or the general lack of respect for the conference.

I do like the Big Ten Network, nice fans at away games (until I visit Wisconsin), big city tourism, and........Chicago pizza.

We wouldn't have so many 11 am games if we took care of business.

  9. This would be interesting but I doubt if I ever would spend $99 on it unless there would be some specific reason as to why I actually need to know this.

My father went on ancestry.com and it claimed I'm actually a descendant of Pocahontas. I have always wondered the accuracy of that web site so it would then be interesting to know if I actually have some American Indian blood in me. Heck, maybe I can get some free cheese.

To me $99 dollars is quite low. now the results would have to be in combination of what you know about your ancestor history. some people are curious to where they came from. ever watch the show "who do you think you are?"

  10. Where they came from or what ethnic group they are? Kind of confused by that because there's a large difference.

...and how do they come up with that? Do they survey tons of people across Europe/Africa/Asia? It's not as if they're going to be representative of a particular place. Populations move and intermingle a ton.

sure that happens but there are markers that are unique to a group of people. even if you are mixed a lot those markers are still present. It's been awhile but i know that some years back israel didn't a genetic test and found that a certain marker was only present in jews so they could identify who had jewish ancestry or not.

  11. While i don't agree with the law, i don't think a lot of people is ready to accept gays. I think laws that get passed and forces a society to change that it's not ready does more harm than good. while race relations have improved they have gotten worse also.

  12. has anyone on here done this?

It costs $99 and takes about 6-8 weeks to get results. it matches markers found in you and gives you an idea where your ancestors came from. Now i know that you already have to have an idea of where your ancestors came from and you have to already having some idea of where you came from. just wondering if anyone on here has done this and was the results what you expected?

  13. Why is everyone so afraid of Northwestern? The thing that really has hurt Nebraska against them the last 3 years is gone. Cain Colter has used up his eligibility. They will be a decent FB team that needs to be taken seriously, but if they are taken seriously they should be a win.

The turnover's and penalties are not gone yet-that we know of. So yes, we're still understandably afraid of Northwestern.

It has been without question, the tightest, most heart-stopping, edge-of-your-seat, gut wrenching series since joining the Big 10.

I wouldn't say we are afraid of NW we just shouldn't take them lightly.

  14. but he should have at the very least told his parents before he told the world.

Have you read that his parents didn't know? Because his entire football team in college knew.

he told his team in college and his parents just guessed but his dad learned after he came out publicly.

"Sam revealed to his Missouri teammates he is gay last August, but he didn't disclose his sexual orientation to his parents until last week. He said Sunday in interviews with ESPN's "Outside The Lines" and The New York Times that he is gay."

  15. That's because their trying to get an average player drafted higher by making it out to be that if he isn't drafted where they'd like, that it's because of his sexual orientation.

That's kind of a chickensh#t way to look at it, Allen.

From all indications, Sam is a helluva player. No one is talking about where they'd "like" Sam to be drafted. He already had everyone's attention and had already been assigned his draft prediction. Haven't heard the suggestion beyond yours that his coming out would actually RAISE his draft position.

It's a pretty big sports story. Sam made a difficult choice. Missouri had to get out ahead of it. So did the NFL. Everyone handled it well.

Still, I'm impressed we got to 38 posts without a snippy retort.

I wasn't being snippy, just remember from multiple people that he wasn't projected very highly in the first place. And if you don't believe people could try and take advantage of certain situations to better themselves, idk what to tell you. I commend the man for coming out. But just like Manti Teo', I think there's a shot (not necessarily saying it was for sure the reason) that he could have done it to attempt to get his name out there more. I do also believe he just doesn't want to hide the fact that he's gay anymore. I just get suspicious when stuff like the happens just before draft day.

but he should have at the very least told his parents before he told the world. also the nfl locker rooms are different than college. I didn't know who he was before the announcement and if he fails in the nfl i hope he doesn't use being gay as an excuse rather than he just failed.

I couldn't list many of the players projected to go in the 3rd thru 6th rounds of the draft myself, which is where Sam was slated before he came out.

He was a first team All-American and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year before he came out, too.

Sam have to prove himself all over again on the NFL field. I'm sure nobody knows that better than Sam.

Maybe he does maybe he doesn't. honestly coming out before the draft probably wasn't smart. I'm sure there will be some teams that will hold it against him.

  17. No, I read it and nowhere did you state you were joking. Nothing even insinuated it being a joke...

"ps. I hope that is broken soon." is that today's new lingo for joking?

why would i write that if i was serious about losing 4 games a season becoming nebraska football? Of course i want Bo to do better but it's ok to criticize Bo for not doing better specially when we know he can do better. i don't blindly drink the kool-aid like so many posters here and then complain that we got beat badly and how shocked they were.

Sure its ok to criticize Bo, but not in every f'ing thread you post in. This had NOTHING to do with losses or Bo, but you sure have turned it into just that. I am done with this conversation, because we all know how it will end...

like i said it was just a joke and now you got all butthurt about it.

  19. Im really looking forward to the Gophers trip to Lincoln this year. Cant wait for us to right that wrrong.

The Minnesota game was baffling how does a coach not see that a hurt qb is hurting the team? One thing i am glad is that Taylor won't be here anymore so Bo can play him no matter what. But after the Minnesota game he finally realized if he didn't give other people a chance to play and get some reps he would be screwed next year. It's a shame Taylor got hurt his freshman year and Bo completely mismanaged him after that. He could've led us to a BCS game.

  20. I think you are wrong on that AZraider. The team voted him off, can not remember the running back we had, brain dead, but same deal. He was a poison for that team, and I truly think he was for ours. Never have been a fan. I have no problem with the EA thing. These kids put it all on the line and on any given day it is over, where as we pay coaches millions of dollars with no physical damage likely. I am not saying they don't get money out of it, but no where on the level the NCAA and Universities do with it. When Jimme can make 2K a seat for a game, someone needs to get something out of it, it seems to me.

But I wonder how successful this new program will be. Going to be hard filling a conf championship game, a playoff game and NC game.

Now that I looked back at it, what happened was Keller was named the starter by Koetter (what a joke of a coach he was for ASU), and Rudy Carpenter "allegedly" threatened to quit the team. Several players in the ASU leadership council went to Koetter and told him they disagreed with the decision. At the time, Carpenter was a sophomore, Keller was a senior, and Koetter changed his mind and benched Keller. That led to him leaving for the Huskers. What a mess!

Aside from the team and transfer, it sounds like a Crouch type deal.

yeah and that always bothered me about Crouch. just cry and quit because you didn't get what you wanted. seems kinda anti-husker. now about keller i don't blame the coach if there are so many other players that didn't want keller as starter over carpenter not much he could do. kinda what we heard about taylor this past season and some players didn't want taylor starting.
