  1. 247 has learned he weighed in at at 250 and was just shy of 6'4 on his visit this weekend. Caught us a nice late bloomer.

Not good. Not a fan of big slow DEs. History has shown us that the best DEs in college are smaller quicker dudes. Glad to have him, but hopefully he drops a few pounds down to the 235ish range.

    Either way, welcome aboard.

Watch the kid's film. You don't know what you're talking about. Ideal DE weight is 260-270

Ya, 225-230 way too small. How many good pass rushers do you see in NFL around the 225 range? Hes tall enough to handle 255-260 with good muscle tone and keep or even improve his speed.

Yea, don't get it 74Hunter. This kid starts from a 4 point stance and hawks the ball carrier from below. From that position he might seem slow to you but I see a good DE. Starting low and coming up to the ball, all the have too do is teach him to do the same standing, gold.

  2. Any chance of Sanders coming back for more than just DB coach? Sanders can flat out coach and recruit and it seems JP flat out can't. Seems to make sense. Sanders would be a slam dunk at DB coach, so why all the other names floating around? Just throwing some stuff at the wall here.

I don't know where you heard that Sanders can recruit, but the truth is that Sanders is a terrible recruiter. We need people who can recruit and don't embarrass the university on their recruiting trips. Which of course means that Sanders should never be a Husker again.

Not sure of his recruiting ability but do you have something to say?

  3. Eric Warfield might be on the list as well. He was just on the staff as an intern and I think he could be a great recruiter with a little experience and some direction.

Not sure about this one, multiple DUI's license revoked 15 years in July. No rental car for him.

As noted before in this thread or another, he was an intern on the staff a couple years ago, so I highly doubt those past transgressions would take him out of the picture since they took him on as an intern already. But, I don't think he has enough experience at this point. I think we need a guy with some coaching and recruiting experience.

FWIW, it was revoked July 2013

  4. As mentioned on 1620, Marvin and Bo are very, very close, but Marvin is in California in a very good situation, making good money, living near beach...

Wasn't he let go from USC and is now coaching a high school?

Not because is didn't perform, but because they overhauled their entire D after a 7-6 season. He took them from 100th something to around 50 in pass D. M.Kiffen left and everyone got canned or quit.

  5.

A top-to-bottom reevaluation of allocation of duties, beginning with but not limited to Special Teams coach(ing).

A realistic assessment of the effectiveness of play calling and both offensive and defensive philosophies.

A sincere effort to eliminate the "us vs. them" mentality of the coaching staff, and by extension the players. The fans are not "them." Mere words are not enough on this front.

I don't think you will ever see this. The rift between BoLeavers and BoBelievers is too wide. You have a fan base that is split down the middle with one half screaming loudly for his head and the other, at this point, shrugging and shacking their heads. When Bo wins a conference championship they will still say "Wait for next year. The schedule was weak. I still think he's an embarrassment to the state." Its obvious 9 wins won't win back that base and if it won't, I agree with Bo, look at the body of my work. Graduation rate, GPA not just how badly we lost a game. Fundamental changes have too be made. ST needs a serious look. Again during the game I saw a punt by Georgia and no push to block it, they stood there waiting as if they knew there was not going to be a return. Until Bo makes the changes that half this fan base wants, it will always be perceived as "us against them".

  6. aside from this turning into a "see you later, Bo" thread instead of what the article said. Here's a quote,

"There were times when (media) took things maybe out of context, and people started making assumptions based on what somebody said," said Pelini, declining to cite specific examples.

The media and these boards wreaked havoc on this program this past season. What would you expect him to do? He didn't say he was absolutely going to do this. He put it out there as a test. To see what and or gauge the public and medias reaction. It obviously hit a nerve.

  7. ** I will throw this out......... Can anyone name 1-2 All-Conference (in a BSC conference) or an All-American that has transferred from Nebraska ?

    Harrison Beck...

I am sure you are right....but refresh my memory a bit.... Did he go to NC....and was he an All-Conference selection? I just don't remember seeing his name on any highlight clips on any sports station once he left.....and if even so, he would be 1 of many that have left..... Cody Green had an ok career at Tulsa, but not sure if he even started a lot his senior season...thought he may have been beaten out

** Although my question was to name 1 or 2.......so if Beck is correct..... You win Sir !

I don't think Beck was all anything. He sat behind Russell Wilson and his stats were miserable.

  8. Really? What made A&E think this guy was not a religious man. His beard? Como clothing options? The fact that its backwoods Louisiana? And finally, who cares. Whats the demographic of the show, LGBT? My oldest son watches the show just to see what the crazy uncle is going to say. I got bored of it after a short time. Like all reality shows.

  9. LOL, the guy needs to take responsibility rather than rationalize his ridiculous inaction the previous two weeks. At minimum he should've said something to Bo earlier, he obviously wasn't looking to can Bo, who obviously could've stood to hear some level of support. Bo and probably the staff/team was ragged-out by all this drama and it was obvious after the game he was ready for the axe to fall. In terms of a public statement all SE basically needed to do was have the minimal foresight to release a statement along the lines of the one release post-Iowa saying not to believe the rumor-mill and that any evaluation weren't planned til after the season. Any rumors you hear are just that, baseless, and this activity is distracting for a program trying to win games.

I don't care how you like to handle things, this was a situation that needed to be dealt with and he is getting paid a million per to do it.

And look how many people took his statement after the game and twisted it to say what they wanted. Also, I remember hearing quite often that evaluations will be after the season.

  10. A lot of you have good points but it seems to me that more than a few of you are still a little butt-hurt that Bo made that one statement about our "Fans" the fact that he was right doesn't seem to matter- if you leave before the game is complete you deserve to be called out, I think his comments were pretty mild

This sediment is hilarious hearing from a fan base that crucified Callahan for the throat slash and the "fing hillbilly" comment in Norman. Now Bo literally tells those same people to f*** off and it is ok. Oh the hypocrisy.

(This isn’t directed at the poster directly, just the fan base in general.)

Don't think this was the same situation. Callahan made the throat slash at the referee and called the Oklahoma fans hillbillies.

You hit the nail on the head. Bo needs to find a way to stop the us against the world. I can see why it is difficult with negative social media he probably spends time each week helping a player one on one deal with negative comments (some real nasty) and that is why the players support him so strongly. As they see it, it probably feels like us against them, but Bo needs to come to grips with this issue and find a positive method to deal with it. Bo needs to know it isn't his team, it is Nebraska's team.

He needs to realize that he represents more than himself as he is the face of the university and state and what he did was totally unacceptable. A little professionalism would go a long way.

Unprofessional? By calling out the zebras for not picking up a flag on a non catch-able pass or calling out the 3 OWH reports that asked the same question about his job status. Or the reporter at halftime that asked "How do you feel about those 2 interception".

  11. Bo needs to embrace the fans whether he wants to or not. Without the fans there is no football program.

I was ready for Bo to be gone but will get behind him if he shows even a little appreciation and ends the "us against them" mentality.

Seriously? Do you even read the sports or watch sports TV or come to a board and read the topics. Show a little appreciation, why. There are more negative articles, more news reports and certainly more social media (including message boards), from home state press than there are ones of support.
