  1. Friends of the Husker faithful, did you not see all the players today? Why do we care if we won by 21pts. I care that we played so many. This team needs to build depth if it is going to return to the glory that is Husker football! Rejoice! From what I have seen of Washington, it will be a beat down and we will enter conference play 4 and 0 and Texas will be our b**t**.

  2. I have Directv and called in to order the game. The guy said it costs $24. I reluctantly told him I thought it was $40 and he said it was $24. Has anyone else that has Directv got it for $24? I hope I get the game at 10;30 tomorrow.

I hope you wrote the tech's name down, I have had DirecTV for 9 years, they always thank me for my patronage and then try to charge me $5 to order the game because they never have Nebraska games available to order on their website. I went to cellphones years ago so I don't have a phone line attached. I dread calling every time, its stupid that you have to argue that they are the ones that advertise "ordering is so easy, just call or visit our website". I can't wait until we go to the Big Ten and I will not have to deal with this PPV anymore.

  3. Wow unbelievable. Can't believe this thread got legs. Cody is a QB. Why wouldn't he be a QB? He was recruited to run this style of offense. Not only that but there is some undertone that he does not fit the part. This kid is a good QB at that. Big, tough, can both run and throw very well.

I concur, I can't believe this thread got as far as it did. Cody will be a great QB, he is developing well and will see significant play time in his career. Maybe not as a starter but a contributor either way.

  4. Dear Nebraska,

I know your the new kid on the block. All bright eyed and bushy tailed, excited to play your awesome opening season in 2011. As an Ohio State fan, we're oh-so excited to come to Lincoln and give you a proper B10 welcome along with Wisconsin.

However, there is something that we need to discuss. Usually, Ohio State fans don't like to discuss their name, so I will not use their name. But they usually wear a blue and yellow uniform, and hail from a state known for popular motor vehicles, and murders than anything else.

Anyways, we care about this team dearly. We also care about who plays them every week, too. Its our hope that each game, they get destroyed like free ice cream at a Weight Watchers meeting.

Really? Sounds like a TexAs* Troll trying to stir something up. Who starts a sentence with the word "AnywayS" Obviously someone with a sub-par education, therefore, you must be from TexAs*

  5. Chris Whaley, Aaron Green, who's next. Will we be able to bring in top running backs to the program now that we are going to the Big Ten. The league is more like the old Big 8 in that they do rely on the run game more than the "spread". I don't mean to say that they don't throw the ball around, and they do more zone read, but with the SEC relying on a rush option, can we attract the talent we used too.

  6. Let me start this with the famous 82 Penn St game. On Sept. 25, 1982, Huskers quarterback Turner Gill erased a two-touchdown deficit in the fourth quarter to give his team a 24-21 lead with 1:18 left in the game.

Lions quarterback Todd Blackledge took the field, needing 65 yards. After leading the Lions inside the Huskers’ 20-yard line with 13 seconds left, Blackledge found a wide open Mike McCloskey streaking towards the sidelines. Blackledge tossed the ball in McCloskey’s direction, but the pass led McCloskey out of bounds, where he caught the ball.

That is, according to everyone except the official responsible with the call. The official ruled McCloskey caught it in bounds and stepped out at the 2-yard line with nine seconds remaining. The Lions would finish off the drive with a touchdown and a 27-24 win.

Nearly two decades after McCloskey’s greatest non-catch of his career, he admitted he was out of bounds.

The Lions (and officials) would cost the Huskers and Osborne a chance to win the national championship.

  7. Why are we even discussing this? The comments in favor of removing the signs are probably made by fans of other teams or people who haven't been to a game. Who cares. The fans did not post the signs or design them or pay to put them up. I view it as a thank you from the team and coaches for ALWAYS being there for them through the ups and downs.(sellout record) And why do we care what ESPN or some blogger kid writes. I know its summer and we are running out of ideas to talk about but really. Please put this to rest. They removed the Beat Texass from the RedOut site because of outside pressure, don't give in, we are Nebraska, be loud, be proud, bleed red!

  8. Leave our little sister (UNO for our Big Ten brothers) alone and add men's swimming

We can't add men's sports without adding equal women's sports, I doubt we add any sports at all

If we added men's hockey we could add women's hockey too, but the cost of that would be too high I would think

True but women's field hockey looks interesting...
