  1. I want to get excited about this kid, I really, REALLY do because he looks like a fantastic talent. But it's so hard knowing that all it takes is for LSU to whiff on their top prospects for us to lose his commitment if we do end up getting it.

Agreed, but check out the posts above.

But they were too full for Debo last year too for a while, then things changed. With our luck, a couple guys go pro early, a couple get kicked off the team for different reasons, one or two move to DE and bulk up, and all of a sudden "Hey Darian, so it turns out we do want-" "YESSSS".

I know you guys know your stuff, so I'm not arguing those facts above, because it does look like there's a good shot at him for us, but man it would kill to lose him like we lost Debo. I still can't decide if I want to see Debo flourish or not down there lol.

  2. What is that, now 5 guys that are "I will visit School X, School Y and School Z this fall, then make a decision"

Two weeks later. "I'm committed to School A" after an unofficial.

I have no issue with the commitment, just don't be lining up all your visits publicly if you aren't going to take them. It screams of overreacting to a visit and a high probability of later wavering on said commitment.

  3. The thing I see that could help us out with Su'a and USC is that there are 2 or 3 other safeties that are interested in USC also...Max Redfield, Taahan(sp) Goodman and Priest Willis. All 3 are exceptional players and hopefully USC can only take 1 or 2 of them. I know that they would probably take all 4 and make room, but would the kids be up for it.

USC has 10 less schollies this year.

This is true, but even if they have 1,2,or 3 safties committed already you make room for someone like Cravens. Unfortunately one of the other safties may get told to look elsewhere, greyshirt, or that there commit is well received and will be accepted only if they don't get other prospects they want more.

Or they can just force someone already there out.

  4. Defensive back is #1 in my book. Especially safeties.

TE is also very important this year.

DE is another spot we need to fill out this year.

A big quality LB class is expected, and needed.

Other than those specific needs, as always:

Get your primo DT each year, maybe two this year.

Fill up the OL depth like we have been doing (a great job of lately BTW).

Get your QB for the class.

Get an RB or two this year. Same for WR.

  5. “I’m looking for people who have the belief of winning a national championship, not just a conference championship,” Barrett said. “I play football to win it all. If you’re not talking about winning a national championship, we’re not on the same page.”

“I want to be labeled as a quarterback, straight and simple,” Barrett said. “When guys are open, I’ll throw the ball. When the defense does a good job of covering our guys, I’ll run the ball. I’ve been talking to some of the coaches, and I don’t want to have any labels. I just want them to see I’m a quarterback.”

Guy certainly doesn't lack confidence. I like that in a QB. With that offer list, I'd say he's LSU's.

Going to be visiting Ohio State this next week.

PLEASE commit to them. That just makes Malik's decision so much easier for him

  6. Good for him if true. Even aside from the fact that we need him, this is a major personal milestone for him. Put his head down, focused on something , and appears to have gotten it done. Didn't take the easy way, didn't make excuses, and didn't quit.

That's the kind of attitude that makes me REALLY exited about him (Braylon Heard too). I bet these two make a significant mark in the backfield in their time here.

  7. We are going after a ton of LB's. I know we need the depth there but are some of these recruits looked at for other positions?

Better question... how do a lot of these LB's have an offer already and Chans Cox doesn't? Just because he's a legacy recruit doesn't mean you can slow play him and piss him off.

Same for Banderas (and Minter). Pick the low-hanging fruit first.

Yeah, but you have to assume that the coaches are telling those guys, "When you get here, we'll have an offer waiting for you". I'd think that if you know can sit down in front of the kid and his parents this spring, and lay the offer out on the table in writing, in person, that has a lot more impact than over the phone or through the mail.

Most, if not all of our offers are to kids who won't be here until next fall (if ever) for an OV, so we need to offer to show that that we are serious about wanting them here. Guys like Cox and Banderas, we do want them just as much, but we KNOW they are coming here for JR day, so let's make it a production.

  8. He's got a sibling who is sick, and always said he wants to stay closer to home, wouldn't shock me at all if he did stay home. Wherever he goes, I hope he does well. From everything I've seen on him, seems to be a good kid and level headed. (Even if is does end up a Tiger).

  9. Sounds like he told the schools his choice tonight but will wait to make it public.

Is that good or bad? Come on, just a tiny hint?

I would but I don't understand postage very well.

To me this is a hint that he is gone? Maybe im reading too much into it, but you asked for a hint and he gave you postage meaning sending something away...idk haha

I think it was a reference to the Curry thread where someone dropped a hint that he silently committed to the coaches using postage as one of the clues. But I may be way off too.

  10. Road Grader is the term I best use to describe this kid. Just flattens whatever is in front of him.

Love the effort getting down field on a couple runs away from his side, really love the want to bury a kid even if the run is well past them.

  11. No update to share, other than everytime I open this site I am split between excitement and dread when I see it posted to.

You'd think the fact that he hasn't accepted the LSU offer already is a good sign for us if anything. I know that if I was committed to say Michigan, and Nebraska offered me a committable offer, they'd have it accepted immeadiately.

Makes me wonder if A) the LSU offer is committable, and B) They got back to him in time to pull him away from us, C) He is 100% committed and sticking to it. We have gotten him here on a visit, so maybe he is ready to come in and try to play right away for us.

Definitely hope we can keep this kid, looks like a future star, but wish him the best either way.
