  1. I just cant beleive that with today's technology, the school cant come up with some sort of way of enforcing the privilage of student tickets. If you dont use 'em once, you get a warning. twice, and you lose em and get bumped to the bottom of the waiting list. I know the changes in policy and such that have made it difficult for the tickets to change hands compared to the past, but still, there are a lot of empty spaces at these games lately, and i'll bet there's a ton of UNL students out there who would love to fill em if only they could get a ticket. There's ways to get a grasp on this issue.

I started thinking...instead of changing the seating, just build a couple of temporary Old Country Buffet and Grandmother's Restaurants around the top of the stadium. Make sure each table has a built-in TV that shows nothing but the Lifetime Channel, a sewing machine, and scatter some crocheting needles and gigantic am/fm radio headphones on tables, and Wah-lah! Closer seats instantly become available to students.

  2. Some of the 'out-of-state/not first and foremost Husker fans' people that come to mind are Cy, killercacti and there's an A&M guy that I can't remember his handle.

Anyone remember the scene from 'The 40-year Old Virgin' when they did the speed-dating thing? Not that it would ever happen, of course, but it'd be interesting to sit down for a minute or two with Huskerboarders, and then right before you move on to the next person you reveal to each other what your Huskerboard name is. I wonder what the shocking/not shocking percentage would be.

But to (sort of) answer the question, I've tail-gated with Husker fans that I didn't know, I've sat with Husker fans at the games that I didn't know, I've sat at Husker watch sites in Texas, Colorado, California, Arizona, Florida and of course, places all over Nebraska with Husker fans that I didn't know. There's probably a good chance I've chatted with someone from here and didn't know it. But the bottom line is, I've never had a bad experience talking to a fellow Husker fan. So chances are good I'd enjoy meeting and talking to any of you.

The complete 2014 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic field was announced today. #Huskers #GBR @DiamondHeadClsc pic.twitter.com/3KolFEK05w

Any announcement on what the dates will be for the games this year? I saw your website post showing that last year it was the 22nd-25th. I'm just curious because we're planning a trip to Hawaii on the 26th, and it'd be cool to check out a Husker game to go with it.

  4. Just pretend all-out mock war between U.S. and Russia without nuclear bombs. Who's the winner?

    BTW, nuclear weapons stockpiles:

    Russia - 8500 (more mobile i.e. RT-2PM Topol trucks)

U.S. - 7700 (mostly silos and aircraft bombers)

    France - 300

    China - 250

    U.K. - 225

    Pakistan - 100 to 120

    India - 90 to 110

    Israel - 80

    N.Korea - supposedly 6 to 8

    Iran - ???

    I was surprised Pakistan inventory.

You know how many nuclear weapons Russia has, but you or your family has never heard of the Ukraine?!

Edit: My bad, you didn't say you hadn't heard of Ukraine. But kind of like huzkerbob said, it's no shock that Americans don't know where or what the Ukraine is. Wasn't it Leno or Letterman that had that segment that they asked people on the sidewalk simple questions and they were completely awful at it? I remember there was one about Nebraska, and the people that were asked not only had no idea where it was, some didn't even know it was in the U.S.

  5. What about the fact that Bo's cat had apparently been held hostage for years? And this fact was covered up by both the school and the coach? How many games did we lose because our head coach was worried out of his mind about the well-being of a feline?

    Hmmm . . .

That's not very funny. Just stop it meow.

  6. But I never could have imagined Pelini opening his practices to the media, who are literally locked out of the Hawks indoor facility until the last whistle is blown each day. Pelini opened up practice at the Gator Bowl and liked it. The rule was reporters couldn’t report on anything they saw in real time. Nobody did. What a wonderful world.

And now he’s considering this for the fall, too.

“I thought it worked out well,” Pelini said. “I do feel comfortable doing it. I changed my mind on that. I think it will be a good thing. I think it will be a win-win for both of us.”

Who is this coach, and what have you done with the other one?

    Bo's too stubborn to change....

Clearly he's trying Mavric, give the guy some credit.

Alcoholics sometimes try to change, too.

  7. Basically just another thread that turns into the usual suspects that hate Bo (unless he has a great upcoming season) vs. the usual suspects that support Bo (unless he has a bad upcoming season). There is not a chance of any offseason Huskerboard post that is going to change anyone's mind in either camp this year.

Thankfully, both basketball teams are doing pretty well, and it'll be fun to see how Erstad's team gets going on the diamond. And I'm glad for this. Because I almost cringe at going to the 'Football' subforum anymore. It just always turns in to the same crap. I understand it's my own choice to go to it. But it's my favorite Husker sport. I always hope to see something of interest on it. And once in a while I do. And then it just turns into WWIII, as usual.

  8. I think this might have been a bigger the first couple years of Bo's tenure. Now not so much, because eventually one of those jackwagons are going to say something about him losing his temper...

If Gameday actually did come to Lincoln, I wonder if ESPN would pay for a makeover on Bo. You know, since the cameras will be on him the entire time and not the game?

  9. One off-hand comment about nine wins got me thinking - we have tons of excuses for Husker Problems. They date back decades. Lately we've separated ourselves into a couple of camps (E or I), but that's just the most recent stuff. There's tons more.

So many more that we really need to organize them. We need a list, like the Rules of the Internet (NSFW), the most famous of which is probably Rule 34 (If it exists, there's pr0n of it).

Basically, you can sit around bickering about Taylor Martinez and Bo's departure to Miami or you can help with this list. Don't be a chump. Chip in.

The list so far (in no particular order - numbers are for reference only):

    Excuse 1 - It's Bill Callahan's Fault

    Excuse 2 - :01 second

Excuse 3 - We should be back in the Big XII.

Excuse 4 - Bo Pelini inherited a wrecked ship, Osborne inherited a team that had won two national championships.

Excuse 5 - The cameras always focus on Bo.

    Excuse 6 - Tape-gate.

Excuse 7 - Bill Callahan didn't wear Nebraska gear to a presser once.

Excuse 8 - Aaron Green didn't get a fair chance. Neither did Cody Green. It's not easy being Green.

    Excuse 9 - #9wins

Excuse 10 - Harvey Perlman meddles in the program too much.

Excuse 11 - Taylor Martinez is the best quarterback to ever play for Nebraska.

    Excuse 12 - It's the defense.

    Excuse 13 - Too many 11am games.

Excuse 14 - Tim Miles is better at social media than Bo.

Excuse 15 - Hire Scott Frost.

Excuse 16 - Barney Cotton is the root of all our woes.

Excuse 17 - A player said something on twitter.

Excuse 18 - We're not the greatest fans.

Excuse 19 - Shawn Eichorst doesn't support Bo.

Excuse 20 - That booster said something once.

Excuse 21 - Bo only hires his friends

    Excuse 22 - Stars don't matter.

Excuse 23 - The backups don't get enough playing time.

Excuse 24 - ESPN sucks and/or hates us.

Excuse 25 - The Media hates us.

Excuse 26 - Signing small classes hurt your rankings

Excuse 27 - Large recruiting classes have more lower-ranked players and hurts your rankings

Excuse 28 - We need to run the Option more.

Excuse 29 - We need to pass it more.

Excuse 30 - We need to run it more.

    Excuse 31 - Tim Beck!!!!!!

Excuse 32 - We don't use the Fullback anymore

Excuse 33 - Callahan killed the Walk-On program

Excuse 34 - Does Bo ever take a good picture?

Excuse 35 - We should have kept Shawn Watson

Excuse 36 - Bring back Marvin Sanders!

Excuse 37 - That Penn State player was out of bounds.

Excuse 38 - Suh got robbed of the Heisman

Excuse 39 - Tommie Frazier got robbed of the Heisman

Excuse 40 - That Florida State player fumbled at the goal line.

Excuse 41 - We play more games now

Excuse 42 - We don't have enough night games

Excuse 43 - Our schedule is too weak.

There are more. Tons and tons more. Help me out.

It's amazing how after about 4 billion '9 wins' posts and comments, I was the one to lead to the soliciting of this OP. And the funny thing was, I wasn't asking for anyone to get fired. I was just suggesting that winning fixes a lot of things that everyone on here bitches about. But even if it was 'off-hand,'I guess we'll keep beating a dead horse because that's what we're best at.

  10. #9wins was good enough for Tom Osborne.Taylor Martinez is the best quarterback to ever play for Nebraska. Harvey Perlman meddles in the program too much. Bo Pelini inherited a wrecked ship, Osborne inherited a team that had won two of the previous three national championships. The cameras always focus on Bo. Tape-gate. Bo can't recruit. Bill Callahan didn't wear Nebraska gear to a presser once. Aaron Green didn't get a fair chance. Neither did Cody Green. It's not easy being Green. Too many 11am games. Tim Miles is better at social media than Bo. Hire Scott Frost. Barney Cotton is the root of all our woes. A player said something on twitter. So much for Nebraska being the greatest fans. It's the defense. :01 second on the clock in 2009. We should be back in the Big XII.

He didn't wear any Oakland Raiders gear at pressers either.

  11. Positives

The first half contributions of the role guys. Rivers, Smith and Benny kept it close in the first half

    Negatives

    Rebounding

Which leads to second chance points

    Turnovers

Which led to points of turnovers

    Not getting to the rim

Which leads to less. free throw attempts

    Not playing within the offense

Which led to forcing real bad shots and not allowing key players to get intothe flow of the game

It sucks that your positive was also a negative. The defense was decent, but the breakdowns and the 3-pointers kept Illinois looking invincible. I know teams will have off-shooting nights, but all of the airballs and shots barely hitting the rim was a little disconcerting. I understand Nebraska isn't 'there' yet, but at one point I started thinking about when I used to play 'Mike Tyson's Punchout' on the Nintendo against 'Glass Joe.' I remember I almost had to try to let him win when I understood how easy it was to beat him. I don't know, maybe not the greatest reference in the world, but to me this was a very winnable game for NU, and we let them off the hook.
