  1. I would imagine that they would post it the next morning if he did decide to contact rivals staff this late. But who knows.

I think that other people have it right in saying that this announcement could come at any time.

The main person he's been in contact with at Rivals has a younger child and seems to be up at all times of the night, so you never know. I don't really expect anything tonight, but wouldn't it just be awesome to have Carnes sitting with the staff, Owa calls, commits, the staff goes nuts and Carnes says these coaches are awesome, and commits on the spot also?

    A guy can dream, right?

Or if they are like me they could sleep through a freight train hitting the house and completely miss the phone call or a baby crying.

  2. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? 33 years

Attended college from fall of 94- fall of 99. Kind of hard to not like the skers during that time period.

  3. Granted TO got his title after 20+ years with 9+ wins each season. But I also remember when we weren't competing for a national title, or got embarassed by teams in our bowl games, people wanted TO's head on a pike. It was brutal during the eighties. I love TO to death but it was brutal year after year of not winning the big one. I just hope we don't have to endure that all over again. It was hard to believe in TO's system every year only to lose it to oklahoma, colorado, miami, florida st, or UCLA. I believe in Bo's system, but 20 years before we get a title is a long time.

  4. I think you have to keep in mind with TO (not until the end of his career), we never played in conference titles like we have now today, where the winner goes on to play for a shot at a national championship. The Big 8 was different from the Big 12. We need to play and win every year in the Big 12 championship game just to have a shot at a title. Will people be mad if were not playing in the Big 12 championship game every year? While in the Big 8 all we had to do was beat oklahoma and maybe colorado every year and we were in. Just throwing that into the dicusssion.

With that said I'd still love our coaching staff if we were still a 9 or 10 win team every year. Bo and Carl are kind of hard to hate, and they know how to surround themselves with talented coaches and individuals.

  5. After WV's bowl game from the 93' season Don Nehlen was going on and on about how bad they wanted and thought they should've played NU. I bet after the Kickoff Classic Game he wished he could have taken that statement back.

  6. My opinion is that the people who are "defending" Callahan are the typical very nice Nebraska fans that we all know and love. We're a state full of nice people, and nice fans, and we have a hard time really talking ill of a person. To many it seems overly harsh to criticize the guy, so they "put the best construction on everything" surrounding him and his time here.

I can dig that. I think it's admirable. Maybe I'm just not a big enough person to do that, or maybe I'm just too wrapped up in my brand of fandom to emulate them.

I don't have any animosity towards anyone defending Callahan, but I will be realistic about who and what he was to this program.

One great thing I'll say about Callahan that I continue to appreciate is the Breast Cancer fundraising he did with Football 101. I don't know if he is the coach who made 101 a fundraiser, but I do know that it was under his regime, and Bo continues it today. I find that very admirable about Callahan.

I agree with everything you said as well. Even at times when the "ship was sinking" he approached those problems with an arrogance. Almost like his plan was going to work regardless of what the media, fans, or administration thought. Especially when he takes pot shots at the media and fans saying that the midwest in general is a bunch of rednecks, it was obvious he was not going to fit around here. I never got the feeling that he would be here long.
