  1. It took TO 6 years to beat OU, Callahan just needs to find his groove and then I think people may look back at this time of questioning and laugh about it.

since he has averaged 5 losses a year, callahan hasn't turned anything around yet.

I guess you're perception of turning things around and the program picking up momentum don't match.

The Big 12 isn't quite as inept as the Big 8 was back then, either, so whats the point. Osborne had teams that would go 9-3, lose to OU, the good team they played in nonconference and then the bowl game. After he beat OU in 78, things turned around for him. Similar to what I am suggesting. Once Callahan gets that first big win, it will come easier after that. If it doesn't happen in the next season, then perhaps it might not, who knows.

i'm not saying that he a good coach or a bad coach but with the exception of nebraska fans and callahan's "old friends" the national perception of him is that he lacks coaching ability. people look at how he took the raiders from a superbowl to the worst team in the league, they look at how we have struggled since he has been here, and they question his calls in games like ou, usc, and auburn.

i'm sorry i quoted the wrong writer.

osborne never lost 4,5, or 6 games in a season and gave up wins like callahan did to usc and ou. by returning the majority of a 10 win team in 2004, we were not "in shambles" like cu is.

  3. Not to mention Tierre Green who will be playing the same position two years in a row for the first time in his career! Our back seven can rival anyone in the country!

the best player in our defensive backfield has 2 bad knees and 1 career int.

    not really awe-inspiring.

  4. Johnny Rodgers was on after Darlington (posted by sweetkorn ) Johnny says the players need to do more, the allumni, everyone needs to work together to bring back the unity. Maybe they need more funds for programs to hold things together.

Perrault asked him (Rogers) which golf tournament he played at.

Johnny said he played at the Callahan tournament. He wished more of the old players would have been there. He says to take pride in Nebraska and support the programs.

Now asking Johnny about Steve Pederson....What needs to be done to unite the fans.

    Johnny said win.

He said it isn't Pederson's job to bring them together. It should be the former players and allums responsibility to come together. He said Callahan has always welcomed him back to visit. As far as he knows he's always welcomed players back.

After Rogers hung up, Perrault says Johnny is wrong in his opinion. Too bad he (Perrault) didn't say that to his face or even when he had him on the phone. What a coward

Wow, a former player with significant clout supports Callahan and cites the good treatment he has had from him. Unbelievable.

of course the treat johnny good, he raises tons of money for the athletic department, and he has nothing better to do.

  5. Sweet move by the coaching staff having Lucky in late in a meaningless scrimmage to possibly get lost for the year. As thin as we are at RB that is a stupid move.

i agree. if we lose lucky maybe they will move one of the 37 scholarship wide receivers to tailback.

  6. Never said I didn't believe you, just figured with your hatred of well, just about everything Husker that you'd have it documented somehow. In a dark, dank basement somewhere.

Yup, the old "reality" arguement. You got me nailed bud, good job. :thumbs I guess reality is being two faced like your boy Kevin.

i'm not sure where you got most of your post but i know that i'm as much of a husker fan as any normal native nebraskan. seriously, being as fascinated with these 16-24 year old boys as a lot of you are is ice cream man/priest creepy.

put away the dungeons and dragons and get a life.

  7. per "unsportsmanlike conduct" prior to last season callahan was voted the most overrated coach in the conference in an anonymous poll by big 12 sportwriters.

You got that on tape I bet, huh?

nope. don't need to. if you don't believe me, call the show yourself and ask them. or shoot them an email.

but you wouldn't want to do that cause it's true and you don't want your bubble to burst.

reality sucks sometimes. join us there.

  8. Correct me if Im wrong but Stoopes has gotten to the big game several times.....how often has he won them? Out of curiousity what is his bowl game record? Not saying Callahan is necessarily better but I would hold off on crowning Stoopes a "god" until he can win the big game (something Callahan can't do either)

stoops has won the big one and he owns callahan. he has a ring and multiple big 12 titles. callahan can't hold his lunchbox.

  9. this is just one guy's opinion. per "unsportsmanlike conduct" prior to last season callahan was voted the most overrated coach in the conference in an anonymous poll by big 12 sportwriters.

prince has done so much more with so much less and mangino has owned callahan and cosgrove so this guy is dead wrong.

  10. does it mean that NU is seen as not really being very promising by the best recruits?

pretty much. look at how alot of the players have been treated. is it any wonder why they stone us or leave nu early?

we were sold a bill of goods ever since pederson got the job and most of us bought it. now we are paying the debt. kinda like the national debt.

    giantguesswho.jpg

wow pretty sweet input from a mod. what are you like 12 or something?

  11. All I can say is...wow. Leave it up to some of the "best college football fans" to focus solely on 2 recruits and forget the other 27 that are pretty darn good.

yep pretty darn good, but not florida or usc good. like the best college football fans who let the sun rise and set in a kids' asses like freeman and beck but turn their back on him when he makes a life changing decision.

  12. Dave, you are right on..... Don't read into this garbage too much....it is recruiting, that is it...... I absolutely love to follow the entire process, but all it is, is a big guessing game.....none of these kids have shown any abilty to perform at the next level YET...

I am not sure that there is a major difference between #8 - # 20..... As far as # of *****,,,, meaningless... if you look at the 4-5 star guys that we had from 2 years ago....a bunch of ego maniacs who are no longer with us, and didn't perform on our team......all hype and nothing else...

I am a firm believer that a group of hard working 3 star guys will get more done in the long run....and, these 3 star guys are not already looking at "how quick" can I jump to the NFL.....these guys will probably be 4-5 year players...

Everyone, relax......respect the staff's hard work....be thankful for the great athletes we got....and don't dwell on the few that decomitted........Top 15 classes are awesome........

Now I would like a Top 15 finish from the team. :clap

apparently you don't believe pederson's garbage he spewed about recruiting then?
